ITT we design a bullet proof mask that actually works well
Ill start with a shape
only issue i can think of is poor downward vision
would do well at deflecting bullets from the lower portion of your head

Just use a helmet that cover all the head with a vr headset inside and some cameras on it and on the gun.
>>
>>1114744
obviously no design will be perfect at preventing a hit but that might do an ok job at protecting the lower jaw without fucking your vision too bad
anything angular above the top half would completely fuck your vision up

Hello /diy/, so i was having this idea to start grooming my beard from 0 by myself, but I have no idea how to do it; have you got any good tip on how to start beard grooming in a not too much time-money wasting way? Also feel free to say your opinion if i should start giving it a form or cut it and wait it to grow more

Den digits.

In gold chains nigga, why do you think niggas wear gold chains? They don't rust whiteys banks

Cash is literally the worst and losing 3% of it's value a year if it's sitting around.

Unless you're holding it for well over a decade, that gold chain is worth a lot less than you paid for it.

Hello /diy/

Does anyone here know how to make a digital piano, or know any sites which show you how to build one. I am trying to make custom piano with custom keys and pitches, so I really just need to know the basics.

Thank you.
11 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
Well the physical build would boil down to buttons actuated by levers and springs. It would get expensive, time consuming and tedious quickly. What do you mean custom keys? Just a custom layout?
>>
>>1116320
No like it uses a tunning that is different from equal temperament, and I meant electric keyboard. Like a synth ect.
Since its a prototype it doesn't really need to look like a keyboard it can just be buttons. I need it to write the theory.

How many buttons/keys?

Greetings, /diy/.

I have the problem.
Screws holding this door hinge just fell off.
Even if I screw them back in, they fall off almost immediately.
I think the wood this door frame made of is quite low-quality (cheap home, damn it).

What are my options here ?

1. fill the holes with something?
2. drill new holes in the hinge?
3. something else?

What would you recommend?

checking the catalog for 'door' first, be an idea.

>>>1115375

fill holes and redo as per above, same principle, even though hinge and not door - those screws look mightily underproportioned for a door hinge as well, IMO.

Greetings /diy/

I'm currently in the process of disassemblieng a convection oven with a faulty fan.
Upon removing the backplate i discovered that some of the insulation in the top of the oven is a bot charred/burnt. Is this normal or is the oven completely fucked?

Looks like the seals for the elements have perished somewhat. The insulation on these tends to get fucked from past experience.

Is there any advantage to using sleep mode vs a power switch on a microcontroller? Other than a power switch would save a little energy

I've seen most people go with sleep mode, is there a good reason for this? Maybe you don't want to cut power in the middle of running a program.

I'm going to build a simple MDF lantern with RGB light effects and was looking at my options. If I was going to use a boost converter I thought the power switch might be a better option because of inefficiency of the converter and it may have some rippling / not work at low current draws. But I'm going with 3 AAs anyway

the obvious answer is that waking up can be much much faster than powering up. if you need it to act instantaneously, you use sleep.
>>
>>1115939

uC use so little energy it's probably not even worth putting the switch on.
>>
>>1115939

the real point of a sleep mode is so you can have an interrupt that wakes it up

Any simple ideas how to dull or coat this metal edges?

I got a case for my e-reader, and the litlte bend sheetmetal that keeps the magnetic flap closed is kinda sharp on the edges and I could see it easily scratching up other things in my bag. Very simple it seems, I just can't think of anything that could fix it.

I want to move the peg into the hole below it.

Hi diy, i was wondering: how do people get high power projects to work at home?
Im thinking of building an induction heater, and from what I can tell it is fairly straightforward. Except that I keep running into YT vids where people are pulling 15+kW in their garage, and I have no idea how they do that.

I know basic electricity, but Im not very familiar with house wiring. As far as I can tell, house circuits are limited to about 1.5 kW, and if one has, say, 4 such circuits in the house, that would be 6 kW tops.
Also, is there a way for the common man to access 240V single phase AC?
8 posts and 2 images submitted.
>>
>>1115396

In the US you get 240 between two phases, as long as you don't earth anything you can treat the phase to phase voltage as single phase 240V.
>>
>>1115396
The line that runs to your house is 240v. It's a trivially easy job to have an electrician run a 240v outlet to someplace in your garage or something.

99% if you live in America your washer and dryer have 240v like 30-50 amp outlets. It's not hard to even do this yourself with a little research.

Have fun melting shit and paying that electric blll.

Thanks anons.
So 10kW should be feasible...

Hey /diy/

I want to connect a pc with VGA/DVI/HDMI to a crt production monitor with only composite BNC input and Y/C S-Video input... like pic

Can't figure out how...

What is this for op your time machine? It clearly works otherwise you wouldn't be in 2016 you would still be in 1999.
Anyway what you might be able to do is as follows if memory serves correctly...
Svideo has an intensity and a colour, while vga has three separate intensities for each colour. What you can do is connect the output of the green channel from the vga to the intensity (gamma? NOT Chroma anyway) input of the svideo. But you might need some passive components, resistors or something? And its only going to be black and white too I'm pretty sure.
I think that's all you can do without an active converter. Happy to be proven wrong

>>
>>1115285
Id agree with with >>1115299 in that you cant, not without an active converter, disagree its even worth attempting SVideo from a VGA channel without it tho, aint gonna be useful, if at all visible. Comp/SVideo, are both analog formats, as were the cameras in them there good ole days.

If your monitor had RGB BNC in or whatever, its a possibity, but, as it stands, you need either a video card that output SVideo (better quality than Comp) - old capture/TV cards, 'TV-IN usb boxes' or similar - ebay, etc. - or, as said, a signal converter, or run it through a TV tuner box thats got a DVI in, and composite/S-Video out, w/e.

So I've just moved in to a place without any type of curtain. In the morning the sunshine comes straight to my room without any kind of filter.

I was thinking of the cheapest way to put some curtains there, nothing too fancy. Are hook and loop fasteners the best idea?

Curtains are $12 on amazon, the rod that holds them up is $3.

But this is /diy/ so you're probably looking for something cheaper, like using a thumb tack and your moms underwear
