How could one modify a vaporizer so that it shoots smoke out when the button is pushed? Think something like an aerosol spray can, only for a purely theatrical effect.
>>1112613
Cut out the sensor and wire a small button in.
>>1112613
>for a purely theatrical effect
You're the faggot trying to become Batman, aren't you?
>>1112613
I have put a ballon on the end and let it blow through the whole thing.
Ok I don't see a general question thread so here
General questions that don't need their own thread.
And ill start off.
A fuse blew in some audio equipment from the late 70's early 80's and family ordered some fuses for it, however the fuses, while the same volt and amp, are half the size, before i do something stupid, will these work and how would i go about installing them.
>>1112605
>before i do something stupid
theyd (theoretically, if somewhat impractically) 'work' - however..
unless you are going to change the fuse fitting as well, just go and order the correct size, digikey/rs components or similar if dfficult to find elsewhwere . otherwise, you really are just going to do something stupid. Like fill in the gaps with balls of tinfoil or some shit - just, get the right size, its better, honestly.
>>1112605
It's the same as
>This shoe looks like mine, but I wear a size 10, and it's a size 13
So it won't fit? Hmm...
>>1112605
>before i do something stupid,
You ordered the wrong sized fuses already you fucktard, the only not stupid thing to do now is order the right size fuses. Try using something to measure them before buying the wrong size again.
Hi lads
So I need to build a shower base out of cement and bricks and then finish it with tiles. Something like pic related
So I would like those of you who have any experience in doing it to share any tips and ask you if I should be worried about having problems with the permeability of the cement a few years from now?
They make waterproof mortar/grout and stuff for the tiles, and there's probably some kind of paint you could cover the cement with that would waterproof it.
>>1112534
You can get a product from Schluter, a membrane that you adhere to the concrete, then tile over top of that...works fairly well in fact...
>>1112547
This. Use shower membrane designed for the job. Most large hardware stores stock it.
can someone please tell me what the fucks goin on here so i can understand this setup
>>1112510
tell your boss you're unqualified for this shit
Recomend taking it down and rebuild it, draw it up when you tear it down and post it here.
Why do microwave ovens use microwaves? Since E=hf, wouldn't higher energy wavelengths, even visible light, heat your food more better?
>>1112506
>visible light
They can't penetrate into the food as much as microwaves do. They also heat in a different manner than microwaves.
The device you are looking for is,
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Halogen_oven
>>1112506
>more better
more better indeed
>>1112513
I suppose that makes since, but still, why microwaves? Are they the perfect balance of penetrability for food, so that higher wavelengths would pass through the food?
And nah that halogen shit just heats the air around the food like a regular oven.
a good friend of mine bought me pic related a few weeks ago, because he overheard me saying that I like solid wood desk (as opposed to those air filled shite)
long story short, even though Im thankful for the gift, every time i try to write something on the desk, the desk 'wobbles' back and forth rhythmically with my strokes
I tried pressing the desk against a wall do kinda eliminate that effect, but neither the desk nor the wall is perfectly even so it doesnt really work
am I retarded and this is easy to fix or do I just have to suck it up?
>>1112492
just tighten the screws
or shim some paper under the short leg
>>1112493
>just tighten the screws
screws are tight as fuck
>or shim some paper under the short leg
thats what im trying to explain: it doesnt wobble at one corner (implying that there is a short leg) it just wobbles back and forth
pic kinda related
>>1112492
Get some brackets and screw it to the wall.
It simply doesn't have sufficient rigidity and weight to be solid otherwise.
Hey me and y two friends are building quadcopter, We built it, set up the flight control desk, calibrated esc etc.. , But when we try to fly it, it is really unpredictable. It rotates and has trouble hovering. We already tried different flight control setting, but that doesnt sees to help. What do you think could be problem ? we are building that quadcopter on FC hobbyking 2.1 5, Glad for any advice
>>1112480
>>1112486
We are building i in quadcopter-X and i already checked if the motors are CW and CCW. But thanks for you advice.
>>1112480
You need to balance the props, and suspend the controller in a way to reduce the remaining vibrations.
Hey /diy/
I have a large server psu I'm using to power a project.
The outputs are 42v, 12v, 5v, and 3.3v at 1300W total. Its pretty much ideal for my project since 5v powers my controllers and 3.3v is handy for my sensors. I have actuators between 12-36v too.
My problem is that I dont know what kind of connector this is. Its 21 pins which is kinda abnormal. I'm going to pop this thing open later, but in the meantime do any of you know anything about this connector? Have any of you messed with using computer PSUs to charge or power your projects?
>>1112448
What type of server is it from?
specs.
no jumper trips necessary, has a switch on the front. kinda heavy.
thinking about getting another to charge big lithium battery packs since it works with 110/220.
>>1112449
I'm not sure, its a cisco sony aps162 redundant psu
so my shower is shit. what is the cheapest plain white panel material called in australia?
I'm replacing the taps and shower head. but there is some fucky plumbing going on around the house as well with some crazy Dr. Seuss setups under the house with an old rusted out water heater still connected to the hot water supply and electricity. Oh and the water pressure is so shit that it sucks air into the tap if i flush the toilet and try to use the sink at the same time. so im going to be just running a new main water pipe and connecting to the existing branches in a way that makes sense.
I'd like to remove one of the wall panels that covers the breeches and replace the fittings in the shower. the panels are old and the surface has deteriorated to the point where I cant just wipe off shower scum and mold, the surface is too rough and it adheres. so I'd like to just rip out the shower walls and install some new basic PVC panels. only bunnings and mitre10 only want to sell me fancy as fuck wild super fun time crazy expensive CUSTOM SHOWER WALL PANELS with shitty dumb textures for about 500$/panel. i just need basic white plastic and material suppliers are too stupid to know what that is unless you can quote a specific brand name. like if you say water proof bathroom panel they dont understand unless you say blueboard/greenboard etc.
>>1112363
ok well one place said they can supply plain white sheet for 120$/panel. so itll cost about 400$ with all the sealing stuff just to replace some panels. so fuck that. is there an epoxy paint that I can use instead to cover it?
Villaboard? Gyprock? what do they call cement board in ausland?
Everything's

So I've been looking around for custom fit car covers but they are hellava expensive. So i started looking into making my own.
Problem is i can't find anything solid on how to go about making one or even what they are made of.
I'm guessing some kind of polyster.
I'll obviously need something that is slightly weather resistant as well as dust resistant.
Anyone ever go about creating one of these.
>Pic very related although it doesnt have to be that great
another
I just use a canvas tarp from harbor freight with bungee cords
>>1112330
Do you have a picture of what that ends up looking like?
hi guys, i thought i'd ask diy for help since im sure someone here has moved big things off a truck. im trying to buy a coin-op merry-go-round. the person said it was ~300-400lbs and 65"x60". they can load it on the truck via forklift, but i have no idea how to get it off.
any tricks/tips? some stuff i have: moving dolly, furniture dolly, an engine lift, steel truck ramps. thanks
Buy some heavy duty furniture rollers and load it on top of them.
Build an a frame out of scrap lumber. A couple of two by fours with two or three two by four cross pieces will work.
Tie a piece of stout rope to it, drive off, lower it down.
Boom.
>>1112331
how much risk for it to BOOM and fall off ...i think it made of fiberglass
Rent a trailer as they are much lower to the ground. That way you don't have to deal with truck height.
Please help me identify this metal. I'm interested in procuring some for...reasons.
Info:
This is the chime from an old mechanical clock.
It's not plated; it does appear to be some kind of golden bronze all the way through.
It doesn't make sparks at all.
It seems pretty hard, at least for what I would assume to be some kind of brass/bronze. Nowhere near glass hard, but a file doesn't seem to grab as much as with mild steel.
If you must know, I'm interested in making a small carillon, and my experiments with spring steel/music wire aren't going well. Sounds pretty garbo no matter what I do with it. This chime sounds amazing in comparison. If anyone can give me any kind of lead as to what it's made out of, or at least something close, I could use the help.
>>1112319
who knows
my first guess would have been anodized aluminum, but if the file doesn't dig in it might be some kind of alloy steel
maybe a better area of research would be to look up the grade of steel used for a Glockenspiel.
bronze might also be nice
>>1112319
It's some alloy of brass.
What are your guys opinion on ghost guns
also home made suppressors
images are not mine
>>1112294
Nothing wrong with them.
Hey /diy/ I'm in a pinch here and I wanted to see how you guys would handle it.
I had a friend call me today, he works at a water treatment plant, and he wanted to know if he could use RMC to run cables to a few computers/motor control panels etc. Given the methane and ammonia floating around I was hesitant to give him the go ahead. What would you recommend?
Already checked NEC and NFPA, neither explicitly mention waste water plants, so don't bother leafing though the indexes.
>>1112248
schedule 80 PVC conduit.
>>1112248
Galvanized or PVC are probably the best choice. Also send him my condolences cause "water treatment plant" is usually code for "hundred thousand gallons of human shit plant"
>>1112248
Pvc coated rmc
I was searching around for a tutorial on how to make your own paint far my motorcycle and couldn't find anything.
Is making paint for metals a state secret?
I'm interested in the process of making the paint itself IE substances how to mix..
>>1112212
taking built not bought a little far don't you think?
but if you mean Paint, Reducer, and Hardener, ect. just google body shop supply in your town
Pigment and the chemical levels are company secrets generally.
>>1112218
maybe but still at this point leaving the project alone im weirded out with the secrecy
