Anybody here ever eat at F.H. Riley's in the HEART of Huntington Village 400 NY ave?
Fuck off, Opie
I was there 2 week ago actually with a buddy that lives in the area I was visiting.
I had gotten a burger (medium) with bacon and egg came with fries, she gotten the fish and chips. And we gotten a few beers while waiting on the food and catching up.
It took about the standard time to get the food. The hamburger was not great on first bite, in fact it actually tasted bad like it was spoiled meat, it even had a bad smell to it. My buddy mentioned that the fish was overcooked the breading was very hard and greasy. She requested the food get made again, I opted to not get mine ordered again, no way I'm touching that. She gets the order again, and the exact same thing greasy while being overcooked, we talking about very hard, like it, been cooking as soon as he placed the order and slapped on the plate 35 min later, So, we requested that we will leave since the food is not coming out correctly. Manager herd of the situation and tried to make us pay for the meal that was not eaten. I informed the manager that, no food was eaten since we both had an issue with our meals and she requested to have her meal redone. We will only pay for the services rendered which was the beers. He checked with the waitress and cook and confirmed that the food was sent back and was not eaten a second time. He also asked if the waitress was tipped by us? I informed him that would be under the discretion of the customers if your employer gotten a tip, the food was none edible but you are worried if we tipped? Then try to charge me for food that was not eaten. Here is the money for the beer, have a nice day, and we went somewhere else to eat.
>TL;DR
>The food was shit, the manager was a jew shit, the cooks is shit, the waitress was a bro, would not recommend eating there.

Is it a pasta or something ? The level of autism is fucking high.
What are some essential books about cooking? Ones that focus on the theory of it, not the bullshit that you find on the Amazon bestseller list.

"Modern cuisine" from Nathan Myhrvold

That's the gold standard for sure. Other good ones are:
On food and cooking by McGee
Anything by Ferran Adria
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Larousse_Gastronomique
Really good read if you're looking to change how you think about cooking rather than learn specific recipes. They're there for sure, but it gives a really good understanding of cooking in general. It's about classical french cooking, but the techniques and stuff carry over to other styles of food.

QUE LASTIMA
So I Was just at the grocery trying to find something to make tomorrow morning and I saw a dry rubbed pork loin filet, sauteed mushroom and bacon flavor, grabbed that to give it a try. Any idea what I should do with it? My only idea is to just cook it up in a frying pan and have it with a baked potato at the moment. I'm going to need to make it early in the morning and have some for breakfast so something on the fast side would be best.

I literally will dump a can of beans into the crock pot, alonv with a quick squeeze of cheap bottled BBQ sauce, set one of those bad boys on top of the beans, turn it on low and just walk away for a few hours.
Maybe a half hour before I'm ready to eat I'll toss a cut in half ear of corn or two in there.
Oh my bad dude forgot the breakfast part.
Just oven roast that shit the night before and in the morning, cut a slice off, throw it in the pan to crisp a bit, crack an egg on top, then put the lid on your pan, turn the stove to low and go take your morning shit. Egg will be done by the time your done.

>>8268862
caesar, but I haven't had one with the egg
don't go to spotos steak joint, they make you pay $12 for a salad and then make you make it yourself. they gave me a plate with a head of romaine lettuce, a bowl of croutons, a bowl of cheese, and a bowl of dressing. Just put it right in front of me.
if you freeze persimmons for like 6 hours and then unfreeze them they instantly ripen
unripe ones taste like shit and feel like you're eating sand and they take forever to ripen so try that out if you ever get one
they're in season right now
they taste kinda like pumpkins except sweeter
never heard that tip before but i love persimmons
they fuck with my mouth
>they take forever to ripen
idk why no onilne resources I checked mentioned this, lol.
I bought one two weeks ago on impulse just to try it and it just now barely starting to go soft. Was beginning to wonder if I got some defective one or something lol.

I do enjoy sardines but when I'm drunk I've cut myself trying to open the tin (some of those fuckers are tough) and then spilled the fish into the sink trying to drain out excess oil
I usually don't post here, but my wife's coming over this weekend and she wants me to cook for her and her daughter. I don't keep food in the fridge, and I literally don't know how to cook.
What's the last piss-easy (less than 10 minutes to make) recipe you were satisfied with. I need to satisfy my wife and her daughter.
This bait is beyond stale. It's ancient. It's antediluvian.

How would one make this
>>8268669
by buying the ingredients and cooking them accordingly, then assembling them in the prescribed fashion
Just look up Banh Mi recipes.
What can I do with limburger cheese, /ck/? I've already ate it on a hamburger and made a rye bread onion sandwich with it.
>>8268597
Pair it with a tart apple and eat with water crackers so you enjoy the full taste of the cheese.
Also would be tasty in a spinach salad with a balsamic vinegar dressing.
Strong cheeses need equally strong companions. Tart fruit or vinegary pickled things are good companions.
how jelly are you?

>>8268441
Fine dining? No. Perfectly fine, low priced burgers? Yes.
Sup /ck/, I'm interested in baking but I have almost no fucking experience with it.
Main reason I want to bake is just so I can have my house warm up for a while making food.
I was thinking of doing simple shit like cookies, but I'm not sure if I should go straight to making them from scratch, or get pre-made dough and add on to it.
And if I do it from scratch, does anyone have good recipes that are easy?
Worried that what I find online won't be satisfactory.

Premade would be an alright way to start if you've never used an oven before. Shortbread and butter cookies are good for your first recipe. Good recipes for brownies and chocolate chip cookies can be hard to find though.
