I need an electric kettle for my office.

Ideally it would be on the smaller side (~1 L capacity), have temperature control, be <$40, and available on amazon.com

What should I get?

Literally any of them
It's a goddamn heater element in a jug

My office of a few hundred got 2 hamilton beech 1.7L stainless units. After 6 months of use they were still working just great. I bought one and its still chuggin along.

There are much nicer models like an all glass kettle, temp minder, and temp keeper over time, but fuck it. Turn it on, heat water, done. You want the average office drone to put water in, and turn it on. Don't let Brenda in accounting set the heater to 199 degrees because thats her favorite number when you want the water at 212.

is an 8'' inch frying pan useless?

so i'm in college and have limited room. i have a good all-clad 3-Quart Saute Pan and was looking for one more pan of high quality and wanted to do most of the cooking between the two pants. wanted to try Mauviel and they have an 8inch pan for sale, but is an 8inch pan useless?

Would prefer the 10inch pan but it's not on sale and cost a bit more retail anyways, to where it's 3x the 8inch sale price

Get a cheapo nonstick since you already have a saute
>>
>>8261524

Does anyone else ever do or watch livestreams of people cooking?

Just wanna remind everyone to take advantage of their local 7-11 today and get a free coffee after downloading the app. You can get any size and their flavored coffees are actually starbucks tier in taste (which doesn't mean much but its free)

If nothing else good comes out of today, at least you can say you got a tall caramel macchiato at the expense of a cashiers sanity only

You have to brine your chicken if you want the flavor to penetrate into the meat.

Questions That Don't Deserve Their Own Thread

For people who cook a large meal and eat it over several days like me:

What is the best way to store the food after you make it?

Dividing it into several tupperware containers and sticking them in the fridge seems like the best thing to do to me, but I find it very hard to get tupperware perfectly clean after using it. I can always seem to smell the previous meal in the tupperware no matter how hard I clean it.

Also I don't want to microwave the tupperware food because of muh vitamins, but if I'm just emptying it into a pot to reheat that way, I could have just left it in the pot in the first place, reheating it every day. But then that seems unhygienic.

tl;dr - How do you store and reheat meals when you cook in bulk?

Use glass containers.
Keep on a plate or bowl with saran wrap or tinfoil on top.
Things like soup or chili I will keep in the pot.

Reheating in the microwave doesn't kill your nutrients, that's broscience.

>living on campus
Pleb. I'm off campus master race. Actually cheaper to live off campus but my question still stands.

Where should I start? I looked the the thread about favorite youtubers, Food Wishes and Emmy seemed good. Found Brothers Green Eats and they seem very college oriented, and a little amusing in the "DUDE WEED LMAO" way, but their reliance on the foreman grill is triggering my autism.

Like I said, moderate cooking skills already. If it takes an hour or less I can usually do it without issue. Exception to baking. I do okay with baking but I can't seem to crack the code on making excellent cookies.

For context I'm a college student (assuming you didn't figure that out from reading) looking to improve my cooking skills.

Better than eating saltines plain, but as a snack I prefer to eat them with cheese and a nice drink. This snowflake stuff looks kind of dumb but it might be nice for a party platter.

i ate an indian snack, forget the name but it was basically rice krispies with some ritz broken into it plus a side dish of min fried juliennes made with chick pea flour and 3 sauces: green chill one, red hot one and tamarinid sweet one. will try to make some at home.

I'm going to an event in Atlanta near the cumberland mall this week for an event and I wanted to know if there were any good places to eat around there. Liek those places that you always see on the food network or those youtube shows where the go places and eat at these mom and pop places.

Not really going to find anything like that around Cumberland Mall. The area is pretty suburban with a huge sprawling mall and the new Braves stadium across the highway being built.

If you had some time to drive I could suggest some stuff. Atlanta is a driving city and without a car you're pretty limited

pasta salad, not the creamy kind but the vinaigrette kind

pork loin & apples in a cream based sauce, I can't find the recipe I used

Fellow college student here.

Ramen. Not even kidding. Brown some meat and toss that in or any of a million different things I've seen suggested on /ck/. Perfect for a quick meal. Plus since they're only like 25 cents, if you fuck it up so bad it's inedible, then you didn't lose much money on it.

I like baked chicken also. Pretty easy to do, takes 20 min or less. Leftovers can make a nice chicken sandwich for lunch the next day or chopped up for a variety of dishes. While it's baking you should have enough time to make or finish up a side dish or dishes.

I love pasta of all sorts so I make a lot of pasta dishes. My favorite for simplicity is goulash. Pretty quick and easy to make. Will probably take you some practice to get the timing down so you can finish browning the meat and cooking the pasta at the same time.

Beef stew is my favorite bar none however. I make a big pot once a month.

What kind of cookware do you have?
