I was at the grocery store last night and they had an amazing deal on these croissants covered in doughnut glaze that taste exactly like you'd expect them to and you get 8 of for $2 and anyway, I grabbed 5 boxes and as I was checking out the cashier said "Going to a party, huh?" and I was like "haha yeah" but the party was just me eating 5 boxes of glazed covered croissants alone

It's the very first thing that goes into the wok/pan. You stir-fry the paste briefly until it gets aromatic, then you add the other ingredients from there.

I used to enjoy it as a kid in the late 90's, so I went there for nostalgia's sake a couple years ago.
I piled up my plate with pizza, sat down, took one bite, and fucking did a 360 back out the door.
You know something's up when the price is barely any more than it was 15+ years ago. They're cutting those costs by skimping on ingredients.

Yeah, that's usually how it works. If someone brings something to a party, it's considered a contribution. There's nothing wrong with taking it home at the end of the night, but you're essentially doing a walk of shame out the front door.
But you know your friends better than we do. You could always inquire. If everyone was drunk, they could have forgotten it and had intended to take it home with them. If that's the case, they might appreciate you breaking the ice.
