What's the best cereal for making Rice Krispies Treats (or as every cooking show calls them: rice cereal marshmallow squares) besides Rice Krispies?
I made some using Christmas Crunch they other day and those turned out nice.
Fruity Pebbles and only Fruity Pebbles, the best breakfast cereal
>>8314705
When making Rice Krispie Treats I find that Rice Krispies are rather appropriate.

Use cinnamon toast crunch.
Yo /ck/, I noticed you guys don't have a sticky or a general. Where can I learn some basic ass shit? I'm a university student and my food is edible, but only just. I made a cake for my housemates once and they threw it in the neighbour's yard. Hook me up with some links or PDFs or something.
I'll post a few food pics in return.

Wanna cook a chicken today.
Never used brine before - is it better to use a wet brine or dry brine?
Realistically I have about 8 hours till I'll need to cook the chicken.
I only have experience with wet brines but if you have that time frame to cook the bird you should go with a dry brine. Wet brined chicken really benefits from at least a day and a half of air drying in the fridge so the skin gets taut.
Isn't dry bringing just ... salting?
Why is it called dry brining?
It doesn't even make sense. Brining being the verb of the noun brine, which refers to salty water.
Why not just call it salting?
>>8314135
It doesn't make a lot of sense, but that's what it's called.
Didn't see one of these
Questions that don't deserve their own thread?

Servo (Gas Station to Burgers) or Maccas. Just about all Maccas are 24 hours now.
Even a lot of vegas restaurants aren't open that late anon. Unless you mean like fast casual stuff like Robertos or Dennys(which I think are open 24/7 everywhere anyway)
>>8313730
>everything closed

Hello ck. I'm new to cooking, have only been doing it for about 6 months as a hobby and currently working as a cook at a bar. I want to get better at it but I don't know where to start. Half the dishes on here, i've never heard about. How did you all learn to do it? Do you just watch a lot of cooking channel? How can I improve?
>I want to learn how to cook
First thing's first: stay away from /ck/

Just make things you want to eat.
Think of something you've always wanted to try, and then go out and buy the ingredients, make it for yourself.
Challenge yourself to construct full meals around a particular item.
The grander objective is to naturally expose yourself over time to all the basic techniques.
While doing so, be sure you understand WHY you do everything you do. Know what each step in a recipe actually contributes and accomplishes.
Before long, you will notice the underlying similarities between most things.
This is the path to developing intuitive understanding.
I want to filter the shit from the bottom of a bunch of jugs of apple cider, but none of the things I've tried are working.
first I just tried pouring it through a coffee filter in a funnel, but it was barely dripping through. then I tried forcing it through a filter by putting one at the end of a plastic syringe, but pushing the plunger just compressed the air inside. then I thought I could tape two bottles together with a filter between them and let it drip in the refridgerator overnight, but instead of dripping into the bottom bottle it just leaked out of the tape.
did I buy some kind of apple impermeable filters? what else can I try?

Cheesecloth
Shaking your cider before pouring a glass.
Titrate. Let it sit out for a while. Then carefully pour off the seperated top from the sediment at the bottom.

Well /ck/? Whats is the consensus regarding this glorious dining establishment? For me, it has always served as the old stand by. A place you can always fall back on when you don't know where else to go. When I was younger and still living with my parents, it would always be a treat when they would take me here. This is the restaurant that I have the finest memories from, whether it be from some of my childhood birthday parties, casual drinks and meals with friends, enjoyable lunches with my mom, lonely late night dinners after work or while traveling, or the first date with my current girl friend. Why is this place so reliable? How do the absolute mad men do it?
Long Island Iced teas for fucking days. Thats about it though
>>8312210
idk, man. I've only been a few times in my life, but the food was terribad each time. Not a place I'd risk again.
>>8312253

How do you make your spaghetti, /ck/?
>>8311979
Pasta is pretty easy to make with a bit of practice. However it's cheap enough so just get store bought.
>>8311989
Any recommended recipes or additives to the sauce? All I do is put some oregano, basil, and a little soy sauce (cringe maybe) in with the marinara sauce.
>>8311979
Dude, it's the most simple thing ever. Boil noodles and then pour in a can of ragu.....jesus this board is retarded and has no idea how to cook
Why can't anybody beat him /ck/?

>The man just understands flavors
>>8311375
I watched four episodes last night and every single time Bobby BTFO his competition, one of the dishes was creme puffs, the lady said she has made thousands and then Bobby admits he hasn't made them since school, and still wins. Embarrassing!
I could beat him, he looks like a pansy I just need a few beers in my system
