Vancouverfag here too. Nothing really has gone wrong in the restaurant scene in my opinion. A lot of Asian/Middle Eastern/Greek/Italian and not enough South American/Eastern European in my opinion but overall it's whatever same as any other major multi cultural city.

This. Ausfag that lived in Van here. The restaurant scene there is great. Just a bit pricey and the asian food is only occasionally authentic. No decent sushi anywhere to be found there though. Gastown restaurants overrated, best food is usually on Davie or outside of downtown.
