Pickle thread!
Does anyone make their own pickles? I am about to start experimenting with jalapenos, garlic, carrots, bell pepper, cucumbers.
All the recipes I read call for sugar, but I prefer a vinegar salty pickle. Can I just leave out the sugar or is it necessary for some reason
>>8502973
When I do dills I don't use sugar. Just depends on what 'flavour profile' you're looking for.
>>8502973
You can leave it out. It's just used to tone down the harsh acidity of the vinegar.
Consider trying a few jars using natural fermentation with a 5% saline brine. Since my hot sauce came out so well this year, next year I'm going to do all my pickles that way.

i didn't even know people did this, this is fascinating as shit

What are some super autistic food related things you or other people you know do?
I had a ceo of a company I worked for that hated the smell of food so much he stripped the kitchen of his house and turned it into another living room. He moved the kitchen to his garage so he can avoid the smell.

My mother won't eat seafood or fish unless it's battered/breaded and deep fried.

local store puts the stuff that isn't selling well in pound bags for a discount periodically and I grabbed boars head chicken only to later realize it was the board head "teriyaki chicken"
I mean it tastes alright, but what the fuck do you use it for? It's very teriyaki, and that doesn't go well with cheese or other sandwich things
Like teriyaki and mayo don't work, teriyaki and mustard don't work, I can't put sandwich slices in a stir fry
>boars head
Nasty, flyover garbage
so i have a cheap walmart deep fryer that i got not too long ago, i'm using refined coconut oil and so far it works great
my question is about changing the oil, it only has ~3 or so liter capacity
do i have to replace all the oil once in a while or can i just keep adding new stuff as the level goes down?
i put it through a strainer to get the crumbs out once in a while but i haven't noticed the oil turning rancid and it seems to stay nice as i replenish it
>i haven't noticed the oil turning rancid and it seems to stay nice
then it's fine. your nose is the best measuring device.

It gets toxic and more and more unhealthy. Frying breaks down oil and increases those trans fats that so many people think dangerous to your health.
I would chuck it after 3 uses, and or two weeks, whichever is sooner.

this sounds made up
Everyday, post what food you make in this topic.
You first.
Fuck it ill start. First time making pie. Fuck store bought shit

Mine looks better though. Still did a good job. What is the filling of your pie?
>pic related is cherry
Robbie Burns Day is coming up on Wednesday so what do you plan on drinking to celebrate /ck/?
Pic related is what I'll be feasting on.
A true Scotsman's drink.
This is my liquor cabinet. I need to get some girly shit in case I ever manage to get a girl over. That homemade apple pie would probably work, actually, a kid would drink that shit. No alcohol taste whatsoever. The stuff in the olive jar is 90% alcohol with some sort of sweet flavoring. No alcohol taste at all.
Do you get all flats, all drums or mixed?
never thought to ask so I just get mixed. I have a great technique for the flats though so I'd go all flats if I could.
I used to work at a place that made a ton of hot wings every day, and I can stick a whole flat in my mouth and pull off the meat in one chunk... but I still prefer the drum for that big hunk of delicious white meat.
If I have the option, I would get drums.
I do mixed, but prefer flats to drums
would you eat this pizza?
needs da crushed red
I'm honestly a bit perturbed by the distinct lack of anchovies.

Hey /ck/, I think I might be depressed and I'm almost angry. But I'm already out in town. What's a good drink to have when you're sad?
>>8503913

A teacher struggled with knowing how to teach her kindergarten students to get along. It was so bad that she decided to let her class play a game. The children were instructed to bring to class the next day a plastic bag containing potatoes. Each potato was to be given the name of a person that the child did not like, so the number of potatoes each child carried in his sack varied and reflected the number and names of his enemies. Some had two potatoes, some three, while some others had up to five potatoes.

I bought some bison meat and I'm going to make some bison burgers.
Except I'm fucking retarded and don't know how to cook bison burgers. Is there any real difference from beef I need to be aware of? How do you think I should spice it? My dad always used to just put powdered ranch and maggi in when he made them.
Pic related, a bison nuzzling its young before I eat it.
