I'm a NEET, used to work as a pc technician, but got fired for a stupid reason (not related to work at all).

The only jobs I have managed to get are $15-$25 an hour doing data entry but with AD, Amazon web services, QuickBooks or Excel.

I quit all of the jobs because I did not like putting up with 1 hour commutes each way, the work environment (would finish the job in 10 minutes, and look busy the rest of time).

I don't want to work in IT, but that is 100% of my experience even though I never had any interest in it.

I have a bad driving record, so I can't work in the trades for another 2 years.

My family has around 10 million, and I currently have 500k + but I am living with my father, who says "I need to get a job",

It just feels so depressing to go to work for $100 a day, when I will often make $5,000 on a good stock market day.

He say's it's not about the money, but building skills and learning how to talk to people, but I have worked about 6 years and I never learned anything useful except excel.

I have applied for jobs I am genuinely interested in like apartment management, but I never get a single response.

What are some jobs that don't involve driving that I can learn a useful skill, and aren't in a retail environment?

Pic related is my dream job.

What kind of business?
The only kind of businesses that I think "Wow, I want to own and do that every day!" are heavy equipment operation like bulldozers, cranes, pumpers, backhoes...

All other businesses seem like professional licensed service, or retail.

you can pay smaller companies that do this for you online for individuals.

If you don't want to pay someone then you check public records to see if they have a history with the state or city courts.

Why are stocks at an all-time high again? Is there anything fundamentally underlying that signals a strong economy?

How is the situation now different from say 2006? Is the Greece thing solved yet?

There are two thoughts people are considering.

Earnings are decent and have been for a while. The economy has some decent numbers that have continued to show solid fundamentals. Companies are improving their bottom lines and there are few actual short term crisis in view. The closest crisis are, budget (USA) results of European breakup, Student debt, Trump policy debts. All of these are fairly long term problems besides US funding which is always there anyhow.

2nd thought is trump policies will have a massive impact on earnings if he actually pushes it out for this year so people are redirecting money in order to profit from that change. Money is rushing out of weaker areas (bonds and some sectors) and into US investments that will benefit. Don't forget that the entire world can participate in this, so foreign investors also are buying up the same areas.
>>
>>1810847
yeah bonds have been a shitty vehicle for years now, which seems to increase stocks prices even more. Maybe if interest rates are going to increase again bonds will become more viable and release some of the pressure on stock prices.

What really does surprise me is why fincancial institutions across the world are so hesitant about increasing interest rates. If the economy is doing so well, why not slowly start increasing? Or is the economy doing well solely because the money press is still running at full speed?
>>
>>1810868
higher interest rates slows down loans a considerable amount so they try to keep pace with inflation so that it doesn't rise too quickly.

As for individual companies like banks on why they don't raise interest rates, they are much slower at doing so, because they don't want to pay out more unless they are being undercut by competition and are losing business.

I am tempted to say always but that would not be true because I would not say it's an urge, it's just that I consider the opportunity to do so anytime I can.

Also, it depends on your definition of fucking someone over. Inflating a price or not disclosing information you're not legally forced to is perfectly ok in my book.

Has anyone on /biz/ switched from a career they don't like to a completely different industry they actually enjoy? If so, how did you do it?

Did you have to start from the bottom and work your way up in the new industry or were you able to find a lateral position?

>>1810436
Sure did.

Worked in leadership/MGT roles in hospitality for 5-6 years, mainly hotels. Hated it.

Ended up asking a friend to get me an entry level public sector job, worked my ass off, and back in similar MGT role in less than a year.

Now I love what I do.

I'm considering dropping out of my third year in pharmacy school to study comp sci if that counts.
I'd be able to get the bs in probs 3-2.5 years.
I dunno gonna study C+ over this semester and decide.

How do I stop being set up to fail at work /biz/? Even though I work hard people just don't like being around me as if I give off some bad vibe. Its why my managers set up impossible tasks that no one else can do and then end up firing me when I obviously fail. Could it be how I look which is causing this?s I have a monobrow, one squinted eye and have a perpetually blocked nose (congrats you guessed right that I am a khv!). Should I consider plastic surgery?

>>
>>1810418
you don't need plastic surgery for a monobrow, just pluck the middle hairs out lol
>>
>>1810418

if it happened with several managers, the problem is coming from you. Also, I don't think your analysis of the situation is correct; several different managers would not all adopt the same strategy to deal with you and ultimately fire you.

I think you probably are interpreting your work as bullying, maybe you're just not good at what you do ?

Any "leaders" here? I'd like to know the best form of coaching or study to get into a leadership role, please tell me what you did to get where you are

You need to have experience. Learn by doing. It takes a while, but it's worth it.

Don't be afraid to experiment and try out different methods of leading. You'll know you are successful when others start asking you for guidance or begin calling you their mentor. I learned this initially through assuming a leadership role in a student organization in university. Now I take on many of those same qualities when dealing with clients. They come to ME for expert guidance. It's a nice feeling.
>>
You don't have to be a leader to get put in a leadership position, you just have to do things that convince your boss that you're a leader.
>>
>>1810347
I kind of adopted a "fake it til you make it" strategy.

I realized that it's not just that people don't -want- to pick up the slack, it's that oftentimes they legitimately don't know how to express any original ideas or give themselves direction. They're basically just waiting for someone to come along and tell them how things are.

It started in college with group projects. People didn't really want to organize or do the work, so I decided to start assigning roles and responsibilities, and everyone just kind of rolled over and was okay with it.

So then I graduated, all the while looking for a job, but got no bites. Nobody wanted to hire me (or even interview me!). I studied graphic design at a local community college. An associate's degree doesn't look all that great on a resume, especially considering one of the region's best 4-year design schools is based in the same city as my college.

Then I decided to apply the sort of thinking I had in college to real life. I realized that I didn't need to be hired into some job, and I didn't need to go around acting like some fresh-out-of-school greenhorn designer. I could just tell people what I wanted, and they'd probably give it to me.

I re-branded myself, presented myself professionally, made up some dummy projects to put on my portfolio website, read up on pricing, invoicing, and some business stuff, and just went around networking local businesses whose branding I thought was ugly.

And it worked. I am constantly working on projects for different clients, my business is steadily growing, and I am looking to open another (mostly unrelated) business within a few months. Honestly, I am continuously surprised how much it works. You can just tell people you are one way and they'll believe it. I don't think I'm too much of a leader, to be honest, but my clients certainly do, and I think it's partly due to the fact I present myself as being authoritative, despite only having a few years' experience.
