How profitable is it to become a video editor?

This is what i want to do as a career and im already attending an art college for it. Im just worried that there's not much of a demand for this kind of stuff. Im trying to do all the stuff you see like vfx, 3d modeling, production, filming, etc. Only thing that i can think of to do is to edit others and create YouTube videos.

>Video editor in this day and age

You need to know it all, filming, 3d effects, 3d modeling, photoshop, lightning, photography to land a decent job if you dont have big contacts.
>>
>>1810585
Good thing i know how to do a few of those things already. Im gonna have to learn some more about the other stuff but i can definitely do it. I dont have big contacts in the slightest so imma have to go try hard, that's why i said i can do people's youtube videos or make some of my own.

While you're studying, try to catch freelance gigs, you'll learn way more from that expirience than on your shitty degree

How much earning potential does a 2 year degree really give?

What kind of jobs are accessible with a 2 year that aren't accessible with a high school diploma?

Are they worth it at all?

You can be a dishwasher/busboy. If you didnt have the degree they would demand 8 years experience + certifications. This fucking "economy"
>>
>>1810093
If it's not for some kind of trade or apprenticeship it's a waste of your fucking time and you should just get a four year degree.
>>
It really depends. Some degrees, especially ones that supplement industries that don't always require degrees, like IT and trade jobs are very useful, especially if they provide something else alongside the degree to supplement your resume, like an internship. Not all are useful though, there's a lot of useless ones, like majoring in Brewing or Criminal Justice with an associates.

Engineer career help please

/adv/ was a bust. I'm looking into transitioning my degree into Electrical Engineering. From what I read,

after that, I need to pass the FE so that I can be licensed as a Professional Engineer. From there, I can

start an PLLC and try to get contracts.

Is that a viable career path? I never really thought about a life long career, if I had to be honest, I

simply want to have an income to start building capital and then take that and start up threads about any

other venture and research how to make those work etc and get into business that way. Electrical

Engineering seems to just provide an Engineer degree which opens up alot of employment opportunities to

start capital.

Does anyone have any advice on how I can start moving forward? Should I continue the degree path and get

the degree for the safety of having it? My father has always suggested I take on AutoCAD courses and try

being an operator to pay for the classes, while also working with the electrical engineers and learn

theory on the job.

I don't know what to do, I'm just lost.

The FE is nice on a resume. No one will look at you with under a 3.0, once you get in the door somewhere you have more options and time to figure things out.

You don't need the FE and you don't need to become a PE, though they won't hurt. You might even want to avoid it for legal reasons, as you and your stamp take on the responsibility.

An engineering degree is a great gateway anywhere. Engineers are respected and sought after in almost every field. I've been through two successful tech startups and we all had varying engineering degrees. Finding something you enjoy doing is more important than the money, and personality and passion will take you where you want to go.

Get through school with above a 3.0 and never stop learning.

My path was an ME degree straight to the gap for 8.50 an hour. Then to data entry, SQL, a buyout, unemployed elite athlete and a tech startup to buyout to chief security officer.

Alright, thanks
>Get through school with above a 3.0 and never stop learning.
I guess that's all I can do at this stage, I was feeling paralyzed after imagining all the options/LACK of options.

>My path was an ME degree straight to the gap for 8.50 an hour. Then to data entry, SQL, a buyout, unemployed elite athlete and a tech startup to buyout to chief security officer.
You have a colorful story! That's what I want, honestly. I was worried engineering would get me drawing plans for architects and MEs the rest of my life. If anything, I just want it as a start. I would love nothing more than to one day tell someone about my time in five different industries. That's your story, the story of my grandfather, and my father.

I could just be a weirdo, my sister tells me that, but the unemployement horror stories are making me and everyone I know anxious about doing, well, anything.
>>
What is the course load like for an EE degree? I am almost 30 and thinking of going back to school (I never finished)....most of my AA credits will not transfer, so I would be at least 33 or 34 by the time I finish.

I have my own business but I do not want to do this for very much longer. I could work part time and earn enough to pay expenses while doing online school. I haven't taken a math class in 10 years......

What should I invest my money in over the internet? I need strip club money.

Most fortunes come from some form of criminal activity, government sponsored violence, corruption, war profiteering, monopolistic activity protected by violence, or trading in various forms of human misery. Bold innovation and sweeping industrial change are far more the exception than the rule. Let's face it /biz/, most of you don't have it in you to cut throats, and those of you who do already know that it's a competitive game of backstabbing all the way up.

Why do you think that you have a shot?

I'm not interested in acquiring billions, just a tidy couple million. That barely qualifies as a fortune over the lifetime of an average American white or asian male, though I will probably amass it around age thirty before retiring to live off of savings and dividends.
I deal in vanilla equities, a field that most institutions have turned over to automatons because they deem it too simple to rig. I have an IQ of 152, and I spend hours daily reading both qualitative and quantitative information to produce predictive models that are marginally more accurate than those created by amateurs or by computer programs of contemporary sophistication. I pocket that margin.
I don't like to trade in misery (though I don't mind trading in stupidity). That will cost me a lot of money, but I will still have more than enough left over to live quite comfortably.

The Intelligent Investor by Ben Graham. It's ostensibly about buy and hold investing, but if you can apply it to trading you'll do well.
Don't buy things that don't have long-term value, even if you intend on selling them immediately.

/biz/, I want to import some expensive items from the US, and sell them in my country.

There is huge markup on these items here, and I can undercut and sell for still a decent margin (have already proven this true).

The problem is, the company has a very strict policy on internet sales with their distributors, so it is very difficult to buy online, and I haven't been able to convince any distributors to ignore their contract and ship to me secretly. Fair enough.

What I need is a contact in the US, that can buy me these goods, and ship them onward to me (with a small margin for themselves.) Easy.

Problem is - i don't know anyone. The items are also ~$1k each so too risky to just trust a random /biz/ person.

Is there any way to make this work without having to trust some complete stranger with thousands of dollars?

The only way I know it Letters of Credit, but will not work in this situation. Any advice appreciated.

whats the item out of curiosity. and you could always just test someone by just having them purchase 1 at a time and build trust on from that I mean 1k is and isn't a lot of money just depends who you deal with

I've been buying gumball and other quarter machines from estate sales and auctions pretty much whenever I can get them at what I think to be a good price (>$50). Been at it for a few years now.

I've got a total of Eleven right now and every one of them is badass and pretty old. I was wondering if anyone had any insight into the quarter machine business?

I found a guy on reddit that claims to have 40 machines at 20 different businesses and turns a profit month to month.

My gimmick would be that all the machines are older and cleanly restored.

Is this feasible? I wouldn't mind buying another dozen or two on ebay and trying to get them into local businesses. I'm just worried about how to ask store owners, and what kind of fee's or 15% should I expect to pay?

I dunno bro, I have the gumball business is in its death throes. All vending business is now either snacks or some fancy shit where the vending machine gives you a blowjob or cooks a 5-star steak on the spot.

>get an extra week of vacation given to me last year
>HR is in charge of loading each employee's allotment of vacation days into the system
>they forget to give me my extra week
>I'm busy with work and real life and forget about the extra week of vacation
>going through my old emails
>wait a minute, they owe me an extra week of vacation from last year
>talk to HR about getting that extra week this year or just paying me an extra week's worth of salary
>too bad so sad, anon. It's 100% your fault for not noticing the error by year end even though we in HR uploaded the wrong amount of vacation days

I'm pretty pissed off. My coworkers and bosses are pretty cool - it's just HR being a problem. I don't want to do anything drastic but I don't want to to sit here and let myself be screwed. So what should I do?

Probably what I'm going to have to do. I may bluff and turn in my resignation since we have one person in the department who just resigned and one that will be out for 3 months on sick leave. The loss of a third person will be crippling and is the strongest leverage I have.

Hey /biz/

So, I'm pretty damn good at building websites. And I want to do it freelance for some income, but here's the problem:

I can't sell.

I mean I can't sell for fucking shit.

If you were choking, I couldn't sell you the heimlich maneuver.

So what do? Either how do I get gud at sales, how do I find somebody who'd be willing to sell for me and get a sizeable commission, or how do I give up on dreams and go back to being a meme-posting NEET?

and then I met a guy at a local machine shop who took me in as an intern to help him build some projects. but he's GARBAGE at maintaining deadlines and project scope and doesn't target clients that can actually pay a decent price for web development work.

You can find someone that can sell and split the profits with them.
