I have noticed that being an even bigger asshole than the assholes around you usually give results. People all up in your business. Fine. You be all up in theirs. Ask them about everything. Personal questions. About whatever is disturbing to them. If they are a prude talk about sex, if not talk about death. Ask then about their finances. People love that. And act as if it is perfectly normal for you to ask. When they ask you something, say that we are talking about you not me. Get bigger speakers than your neighbors have. If they blast that pop shit, blast country. If they get up in your face in a rude manner, wait for them to touch you, since that is an overt aggressive act, you are entitled to defend yourself. Kicking someone down a staircase once does wonders for peace and quiet.

It's impossible to say how long it would take, because it depends entirely on your personal talent, interest and dedication to language learning. Also, your native language and previous experience in studying languages are factors that affect learning.

As for how useful it is, it depends on if you ever plan on travelling to China or what your career plans are. On some fields knowing foreign langagues like Chinese are a great benefit, but as for daily life, you probably won't much need it much unless you actually plan on going to China. However, all languages could be useful, if you employ your skills smartly.

yes and no. If you live in the US, spanish is much more prominent than any other foreign language.

Is there an adult learning center or community college nearby? Since I don't know how well you take new info or your learning habits, it's hard to say. I got a grasp of the language in about 2 years, but then again I have a lot of practice because I live in a latino-heavy area and my job requires me to talk to A LOT of them.

That being said, practice makes perfect. If you have no one to talk chinese to, you'll likely loose the info you worked so hard to gain (Example: I was fluent in French in high school, but after I moved french wasn't necessary and I eventually lost it).

While you never TRULY lose language, not practicing will definitely hinder your learning. I'd say get find Chinese (or whatever language you choose) friend who is fluent in english and talk to them over skype, steam, etc. That way you can solidify what you learn through practice.

There's is a screencap set of an anon who learned Chinese and put it on his resume for some business job. Bosses noticed and they stuck him in China where he had a shit time dealing with shiesty people, eroding away at his soul. He recommended learning German or Japanese or anything else.

They came in through the sliding glass door, so I know it wasn't someone who had the wrong house and I left the front door unlocked.

The problem about getting a dog is that I really don't want to be responsible for its overall care. I don't mind feeding it and stuff like that, but being responsible for walking it, getting it someone to watch over it while I'm on vacation, vet bills, cleaning up its shit, all sounds awful.

Anything that I can get my hands on. There's multiple convenience stores and fast food places where I live.

I found Nicotine curbs my appetite.
I mean, to put things into perspective... I'm 6'7" and have a very physical job, I usually eat around 3000 a day anyway and I usually don't feel satisfied, but if I have a cig or use a vape pen or patches, gum whatever it drops me down to 1500-2000 a day, and I feel full and satisfied after small meals/snacks.

Now, I'm not suggesting starting smoking anything for obvious reasons, but it works for me and that's my suggestion.
