I'm trying to find the best portable SNES emulation solution with real buttons, as opposed to just using an Android phone.
I've recently come across a bunch of these mods that stuff a Raspberry Pi variant either into a legit Game Boy case or some 3D printed garbage enclosure. Is anyone working on a machine like this based off the Compute Module 3? Performance is identical to the regular Raspberry Pi 3 that everyone runs RetroPie on, so I'm curious why the modding community isn't freaking out about the CM3.

NA VC has like 30 SNES games. It's a great solution ... for those 30 games.

>not hacking your 3ds
>play this game for months like a motherfucker in my childhood with my sister and mother taking turns and still being unable to finish it
>one day nes breaks and i stop playing console games never to return to playing them
>grow up thinking it is the best game i have ever played since it was absolutely challenging and fun
>post it on the internet for nerds to see it
>they casually inform me that it is a ripoff of mario adventure island
>my whole life was a lie
Is that an Adventure Island hack with Mario sprites?

OP, are you Russian or from a former Bloc country? There's a good video on this experience which I will link for you: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kne6AKyYUuM

I am Turkish. Elaborate please?
Name a better one than Shinkiro; you literally can't
Doesn`t he draw everyone with the george clooney face.
He can literally only draw men and female men. No ass, no tits, no curves at all. Shinkiro was a mistake.

Hi /vr/
I don't play vidya as much as I used to, but I still do enjoy emulating games for a few hours on the weekends.
This means I no longer enjoy games with a story or any form of continuity, as I forget where I was a lot of the time.
Basically I'm looking for relaxing games that you can just pick up and play for an hour every other week or so.
I'll post a few that I like and will stop if there is no interest
>>4123882
any game thats not a jrpg
jrpgs are boring as fuck
I'm interested. I've become largely the same way especially with retro games and iS is right in there. Have you played TxK?
You might as well watch a movie instead.
What is the point in a}A/V modding a Master System? It already came with an A/V out.
>>4123809
Who's modding one?
If people are talking about av modding a master system, they're probably referring to the master system II, which only supported RF out.
The Master System 1 had an AV port which actually supported RGB but the redesigned Master System 2 only had an RF output.

Why was Conan O'Brien in Time Crisis?
don't know but he looks quite pleased about it
>>4123565
For you
>>4123557
Because "Time Crisis" is actually hell.
What's your favorite weapon combo in Gunstar Heroes, /vr/?
I usually stick to the laser sword, but I'm open to new ideas for runs.
Laser + Tracking is basically broken (Makes a laser snake that locks on to enemies until they die)
Fire + Explosive is bretty cool
>>4123479
>Laser + Tracking is basically broken
try that combo on hard and see how far you get
My favorite would be vulcan + vulcan if it wasn't so shit. I don't like the weapons in this game, homing is kinda gay and overpewred bullet cancel weapons is awful for a run 'n gun
If you start the game with X you will permanently lose Zero's buster.
If you start the game with Zero you will permanently lose X's Fourth Armor.
X and Zero don't share life tanks, so you can only have a full life bar with one of them.
At the end of each stage you must choose between a Life Up or an Energy Up part, meaning you can never maximize both of them.
The equipment part you get is determined by the power up you choose, so you can only get half of them.
You can only increase your hunter rank by beating a stage for the first time, and there's only stages enough to maximize X or Zero's hunter level.
You can permanently lose acess to Zero by random chance.
If you don't read a guide you won't get most of the equipment parts.
If you don't read a guide you won't learn how to increasse your hunter level.
You can only fix those by reestarting the game.
Who thought this was a good idea?
There's nothing wrong with having choices. Also, I'm pretty sure you can obtain max rank for both characters.
Hunter rank a shit, all it does is make bosses more tedious by increasing their lifebars and you have to face the bosses at lvl 99 during the refights anyway.
>>4123025
cont.
It's not like that in X6 where raising rank actually DOES teach the bosses new attack patterns.
hi /vr/;
just wondering - were any games ported straight FROM the super nintendo TO windows or DOS?
pic is the closest example i could find; there were a few examples of SNES games being ported to PSX, but outside of "best of" collections and things, i can't think of a single SNES title that was ported straight to the PC.
>>4122934
There would be no reason to, due to emulation. Back when SNES games were still being sold PCs had a hard enough time running the games. It would have been a lot of R&D to get smooth decent framerates on a port of a SNES game and the potential of sales wouldn't have been high enough to justify it since people were already starting to emulate and PC has always been prone to piracy.
There were Megaman X1 and X2 ports on MSDOS in China, I think.
>>4122942
MMX1 came out on PC in Europe too. Not sure about the rest.
MMX3 had a PC version too, but contrary to X1 it seems to be a port of the PS1/Saturn version (CD music, fmv cutscenes)
>Ninja Gaiden
>gaiden means side story
Where was the main story series then?
Dead or Alive.
DID YOU KNOW in Japan this was known as ninja ryukenden

>after an hour of failures I finally managed to beat 6-2 and 6-3 and get to the final boss
>get my ass handed to me
>sent back to 6-1 even with 2 lives left
Are there any /vr/ games set (at least partly) in the 1950s/1960s era? Something with a Mad Men esque a e s t h e t i c?
I'd also be interested in this. It's a really great setting
The Bureau is set in that period, main character kinda resembles Don as well.
>>4122671
It's kind of interesting that people back then would have found TV so fascinating that they would all sit around together and treat it as some big event. I can't think of any modern day equivalent. Now days of course a lot of people don't even own a TV and just watch Netflix from their phone.
>ebay seller has a listing for a game that is "complete" and prices it as such
>it only has the spine card and no registration card
how do these scam artists get away with this when it's clearly false advertising?
>>4122015
Sadly owning the complete set does not make you good at shmups.
ITT xtreme autismus
>>4122015
>implying they get away with it
If they do it's all down to stupid buyers
What are some tough retro games?
All of them.
>>4121915
Kirby
>>4121916
>All of them
Pussy.
Don't listen to that faggot. The only hard ones I can think of are Gimmick! and Ghosts n' Goblins.
Should I get an NES or a Famicom? Does one have any major advantages over the other? Game selections don't matter to me because I'll probably get an Everdrive. The only differences I know is that the Famicom is RF-only, the sound is different for some games, it has a built-in mic, and it uses a top loader (I don't know if this has any advantages either).
>>4121762
AV famicom, rgb mod (non destructive on av fami), everdrive, and a decent power adapter.
If you're going the HDMI route you may as well stick with a NES. Cheaper and it just works with NTSC NES accessories and power adapter.
>>4121771
I should add I've only ever owned RGB modded NESes/Famicoms. I speak about the HDMI mod from reading forums.
I'd say get an AV Famicom, but those are expensive as shit now.
Trust me, you don't want the RF-only Famicom. If you're just getting an Everdrive I suggest the NES. The only notable advantage the Famicom offers is it allows games to have enhanced audio via soundchips in the cartridge (many of which the Everdrive can emulate by the way). In a stock NES you won't hear the enhanced sound, but you can do a very easy mod to enable it:
http://www.retrofixes.com/2014/05/open-hidden-sound-channels-in-nes.html
Aside from that, you pretty much aren't missing anything by getting an NES over a Famicom, since it's more or less the same console in a different shell.
somebody waiting for this?
>>4121680
Can't wait to see this buggy shit fan game removed.
If you count them as real instalments, then you as well count rom hacks.
I am looking forward to making lots of super fun levels that don't play like regular Mega Man levels. I feel like you have to get in on the ground floor and put something out within a couple of days or otherwise your work will get lost in a sea of levels that are full of spikes and the most unpredictable annoying enemy repeated till the sprite limit is reached.
>>4121694
same.
