If programing in c is like wearing a condom programming in forth is like wearing a thin sheet of silk. Don't you agree?
>>61740390
when is someone going to write a forth interpreter for temple OS? God's third temple isn't complete without forth.
i love these thread

If programming in C is like wearing a condom, then running your code is like seeing how close you can get your dick to a coffee grinder while blindfolded. If it clips your dick, the bald featureless man next to you screams "SIGFAULT" in a german accent
Do you guys realize that AMD took a shortcut when they superglued™ 4 CPUs on a single socket, right?
This will slowdown the advancements in processor technology and low powered CPUs.
For example, if you look at what Apple is doing with their AX series, they have a low power core now and then the other ones stay idle until the system needs it.
AMD is not doing this and Intel is.
The point is, anyone could have done what AMD has done.
>people will reply to this bait and nobody will stop them
Yes. This is why I personally am ordering an i9™ from Intel® and you should too. AMD cannot be trusted.
>The point is, anyone could have done what AMD has done
Then why didn't they?
hey /g/
how come adblockers semi-stopped working in the past couple of years

Only for people like you that are too lazy to use the element picker or think a script blocker is some complicated thing that you have to be a wizard to use.
What are y'all thoughts on tablet convertibles and tablets as laptops? It seems kinda fucked no matter what angle you approach from but there has to be some type of bright side
> convertibles are usually terrible on price/performance and lose a significant amount of functionality if stripped of the wangblows with which they ship
> also get the worst of all worlds by having sub-tablet operating system for tablet tasks and sub-laptop performance for desktop tasks
> apple tablets are above-grade hardware, but gimped for life on iOS and likely will never reach full functionality
> also insanely fucking overpriced when you add the accessories
> android has permanently shite tablet ecosystem with a postmarket chicken-egg situation of "no buyers = no good tablets, no good tablets = no good tablet apps or functionality, no good tablet apps/functionality = no buyers"
> also most android mfgs drop their products like dog shit after 1.5 yrs or so of support
What buy /g/? Right now the best option discounting price is looking like the iPad Pro if Apple actually fixes their shit tablet-wise with iOS11, but I highly doubt it to say the least
I've been tempted to get a 2 in 1 Windows laptop but there's no point when they all use 16:9, especially not on a 13 inch or larger screen, which is the shittiest aspect ratio available for tablet use and they have to use weak hardware as well to not catch fire.
I plan on buying the iPad Pro 9.7, you can get them refurbished at less than $400 now. iOS is getting better in iOS 11 with better multitasking, split screen, the dock and things like that. It's not ideal but it's enough for what I do on the go, and I rather use a limited OS like iOS on the go than a full fledged but shit for tablet use like Windows.
Using a mobile device in landscape mode is only better for when you're typing stuff and watching movies, everything else is better in portrait mode so I'd rather get a device that's better as a tablet than better as a laptop. You won't be able to take full advantage of the OS when you need to buy shitty hardware anyways.
>>61740286
They're the modern netbooks. Not sure where you got the idea about poor price: performance. If you only have $300 you'll probably be happier with an Asus windows10 transformer than a shitty acer 15" laptop.
My biggest gripe is it seems the higher end ones are more tablet than laptop. Cheap transformer? Keyboard latches in and when connected feels like a top heavy laptop. Expensive Lenovo yoga or Microsoft surface? Wobbly as fuck hinge, or no hinge at all for the clamshell setup.
If I could get my tf100 with an i5 chip, 8gb+ of ram and a good non-emmc SSD I'd be happy.
>>61740546
OP here, this honestly sounds like the most reasonable course of action. I need the laptop-esque functions mostly for school, so taking notes, accessing said notes quickly and using whatever the dinky website of the day is. So I don't exactly need a software powerhouse.

I recently took a CCNA security course for work since we have a training budget of about $5k per IT guy every year, and I found it very enjoyable. What are some other important certifications that deal with security in IT, perhaps for Windows/Linux servers and the like? Is there anything else I should look into that might not have an exam attached to it? I'm sort of planning for next year since tentatively I've got marked CCNP Routing as what I'll work on next, but I haven't really decided what I'll do yet.
My enterprise is fairly small, so there's nothing that I can think of offhand that would be that big of a benefit for work, so it's really just a matter of picking up potentially useful skills in the future. What do you find interesting personally, /g/?
>>61740169
If you are a networking professional your immediate goal should be CCNP R+S. Otherwise, maybe CCDA? RHCSA?
If you're a dev maybe skip certifications altogether and pay for a tutor or an oreilly subscription or a coding bootcamp in the niche area of your interest, or a convention..
>>61740216
Nah, not a coder, at least not professionally. I mainly deal in routing & switching, virtualization, and servers with a little databasing on the side. I would consider coding as a side job, but I doubt I'd be able to get our organization manager to approve something that far from my duties.
So far I am thinking CCNP R+S though, since it's the most applicable thing to my current profession, I was more curious on branching out to other fields as well, however. I recently did security because I figured it sort of goes hand in hand with networking.

This thread is very relevant to my interests. I'm a CIS major and plan to get a few certs during winter break like CompTIA A+ and Network+. I was planning to maybe get my CCNA next summer. Anyway, how long did it take for you to get the cert and do you think it's worth the money if you paid out of pocket?

zen was intel getting rocked in the consumer space
the hedt is basically forfeit outside of specific cases where you need high low core turbos
the server market is amd bending intel over a table and considering whether to use lube or not
zen 2, on a process that is said to be on track and targeting 5ghz normal operation (the current process is targeting 3ghz)
intel will loose the consumer space to non retards
intel will lose the hedt by people laughing them out of the fucking room
and the server space intel will lean that amd decided to use lube, but it will be intel's blood, after going in dry
point is, intel is hurt bad, and the moment apus come around intel better hope vega is a big enough fuck up to ruin them, otherwise they better just write off the laptop market entirely as amd is able to get lower operating wattage then intel, at lower heat so they don't throttle like intel in laptops will.

Is there a demand for a FOSS encrypted video chat application for GNU/Linux (I guess I could port it to Mac too)? I'm thinking of selling it for $5 and donating 20% to the FSF, and letting people compile the source themselves if they don't want to pay.

are you RETARDED?
Hi /g/
If I wanted to keep a game on a USB, something small like a visual novel, and then keep it on said USB indefinitely how long can I expect that USB to hold that information without degrading?
Longer than you'd live
Idk how long a USB will last, but I know a disk will last pretty much indefinitely. Why not use a CD?
>storing anything on an industry standard instead of on storage media
I'll start with what I have saved so far.

>retarded port forward interface that only lets you forward to a MAC address rather than an IP, which doesn't even work anyway
How retarded are you? TCP/UDP ports are layer 4, IP is layer 3 and MACs are layer 2. If you dont like it get your own modem/router.
>>61739724
technically speaking..
eh enough, not really like the 600 benefits from being properly powered that much. Many people will say it does but I've seen a bigger jump from my schiit stack to my NFB.11 with my t1 tesla gen 2s
TL;DR it's enuf
>>61739829
I hope it doesn't sound like schiit
Yeah I mean it's enough, but you might run into some clipping. Try to expand your budget if possible and do modi/magni
