Has anyone done deep treatmeant for terrazzo? If so how much did it cost?
Got a place with carpet, ripped that shit out and there was terrazzo underneath. Paid $1/sq ft to polish it and restore but there are yellow stains in the bed room and hall way which need to be treated with chemicals or something. I'm trying not to get ripped off so any help would be appreciated.
Searched all morning on the line and all I found were blog. No real pricing.
Bump with a picture of the floor discoloration difference
Cover that ugly shit up
It might not be stains, it might be a difference in the batch, in which case you're fucked.
On the offchance it is tannin staining from a natural fibre underlay, I would try a strong solution of sodium percarbonate (Oxiclean and similar laundry/nappy whiteners, deck cleaner) or even hydrogen peroxide. If that doesn't shift it, try neat bleach. After that, you're SOL.
These are my hydroponic tomatoes grown under LED lights,
I built the automatic dripper system and LED lights myself, the lights only consume 120w, they are passively cooled to an average of 52 degrees celsius and are more then enough to grow full size beefsteak tomatoes.
This tent setup is 100% automatic, i plant the seed/seedling, fill up the reservoir, and leave the tent alone until the tomatoes are ready.
What are you growing hydroponically?

>>1190258
I'm interested in doing this with some peppers over winter. Can you give details on how you made the dripper system. Does it have a drain and return back to a tank?
>>1190258
What about plant nutrients? Do you just use some water soluble nutrients?
Amerifat here, why do all deep fryers have these stupid ass magnetic cords on them? I can't see any way these help make a fryer anymore safe. What bad things would happen if I JB welded the magnetic plug to the fryer so it can't fall off?
>>1188946
oopsies I tripped while walking on the counter, good thing this roiling oil didn't spill.
Just skip the electric dryer and bring your propane turkey deep frying rig inside, no pesky electrical cords
>>1188950
I thought about that, but oil takes for fucking ever to cool down once it's hot. Killing the power if you knock it over ain't gonna do jack shit.
How viable would it be to make a bunker by burying a shipping container?
If you would like the answer, start by deleting your thread.
Everyone who wants to bury a container should do so! Follow your dreams and ignore the haters. Your initiative will be rewarded with success!
Numerous containers survived direct hits from 30mm A-10 "Warthog" cannon during the Iraq war. The springy corrugations dissipate energy and the projos bounce off. The immortal Corten steel shells last centuries even without paint, which is only decorative. The US Navy has a fleet of containers at the bottom of the Marianas trench where they dock submarines made from containers for underwater replenishment. Hawaii successfully used lava flow to encase containers to make attractive tourist lodges. Transatmospheric scramjet powered containers have been developed into launch platforms for smaller containers to be used in the post-Brexit EU space containerstation. North Korea replaced their old dug shelters under mountains with containers painted like mountains. (The insides are painted with cute anime characters to boost morale.) Elon Musk prototyped an electric container to replace the Tesla since the container is more aesthetically appealing than the car and has a lot more battery room. The mayor of Detroit has decided to replace his decaying city with containers. The old buildings will be demolished and the rubble hauled off in other containers, loaded onto rafts made of containers, and shipped to China via the St. Laurence seaway where it will be ground up and the metal residue used to make more containers. US Navy SEALS stealthily infiltrate enemy ports using containers cunningly disguised as containers. Israel is solving the Palestinian problem by storing them in containers. (Germany tried to solve the Jewish problem using wooden freight cars, but the container hadn't been invented yet.) Donald Trumps border wall will be easily affordable if built from containers. Any Beaners who slip in by other routes can be detained in containers then trucked to Beanland where containers will be donated as housing.

Hey Guys, I'm gonna build a new workbench this weekend and am looking for inspiration, so by all means post your creations.
Also workbench general
I've built 3 in the last few months as I was building a new shop. None of them are heavy duty, thick topped ones, but more general purpose benches that I use for assembly and finishing, and whatever else. Still designing and planning a proper heavy duty bench.
This is one of the 2 long, 6 legged ones. 8' long, 28" deep.
>>1164506
And the smaller, shorter one that is usually in the middle of the shop, doubling as assembly table and outfeed table.
Normally worse than this.
From what it looks like I would say its between 1 and 4 cm. Google is not working correctly and I am not aware of how to convert cm to the specification needed to research the size of the screw so that I can buy a screw driver to take it out. If anyone can help thank you. Laptop screws tend to be a certain size.
>>1193462
4 cm is 1.57 inches. No laptop has ever had a screw that huge.
Could you try again with your question?
And if you just need a screwdriver, buy a set of small ones. Even 1 cm seems way off the mark for a laptop screw. My Toshiba Satellite screw heads are in the 2 to 3 mm range, so I'm guessing you meant that instead of cm?
>>1193464
Thank you.
I'm going to assume that the screw's are the same size regardless of the part of the laptop it's located on.
>>1193469
My Toshiba has several size screws. Do you need screws or a screw driver?
I was looking to clean out the mold in out bathroom ceiling by ripping out the affected areas and spackling/repainting the ceiling with proper water resistant ceiling paint
However, ripping out "the affected areas" turned out to be the entire ceiling and I think this is too big for spackle
How do I go about this?
Rip out the boards, replace them, tape and mud the seams, skim coat, seal, paint.
>>1193457
well the paper layer helps block the moisture, so now that you have torn that off for the most part, you best replace the whole board. while you are up there install a vent fan
Looking to build my 2nd desk but I want it to look similar to the picture. How do I get the wood planks so close to each other without gaps, glue?
>>1192996
glue and clamps
I'm trying to make my table 70" long, where on Earth do I find a clamp that long or is there a simpler method for that
>>1193004
you don't clamp the ends
Hello I have to get a regular cat5e cable through a wall, I have no tools nor materials to cut off the plug and then reconnect.
Does anyone have any other ideas for getting this cable through before i buy a $40 SDS drillbit and drill a yuge hole in the wall?
>>1192784
make hole, push cable, done

not exactly a big investment.

Nigger rigged: Sledgehammer through the wall.
Done properly: Rewire your network and lay in tubes and accesspoints.
Android auto ideas - I'm looking for ideas to boost the power of the built-in charging port of my vehicle. There are a lot of articles bemoaning the wimpy power output, many stating that it's usually around .5 amps. That seems about right because it really doesn't charge my phone and only keeps it from draining. This is a far cry from what is required for "quick charge" type C devices. I have considered getting a powered hub so data could pass through, but many people have stated that hubs are not recognized by the head unit, so that appears to be a dead-end. No other aftermarket "power injector" solutions seem to be available, so I now appear to be drifting into diy solutions. Please share ideas!

Bumping after a half hour is considered silly on a slow board like this. Your thread will be around for days.
12V cigarette lighter charger. Problem solved.
>>1191568
Thanks but I need data connectivity for Android auto.
>>1191569
What about inductive charging? Can it use that while also connected through USB? Or will it default to USB and shut off the inductive charger?
Hi /diy/
I have trouble finding the reference of this screw, i think it is a english pitch, i count 18 thread for 1.75inch, diameter is 0.248 inch or 6.31mm, i looking for a seller reference so i can buy an other one.
thx a lot !
>>1191282
take another picture with metric
>>1191282
Took me some digging, but that's a number 14 wood screw. Units in inches.
>>1191282
18 threads/1.75 inches / 2.54 cm/inch = 4 threads per cm or 400 threads per meter.
I don't think they don't make screws that long.
OD = 6.3 mm
a number 6 metric has 1 thread per mm or 10 per cm so that doesn't work either
the screw with 4 threads per mm is M1 so you should buy that. the diameter will be a bit small but you can buy spacers.
no wait. 4 per cm is 0.4 per mm which is M2 with a diamerter of uh it might be 2 mm which is not matching up with your 6.31
I will look into this. Wayne Lambright is my tinder pal and I will consult with him.
Would it be retarded to run a swamp cooler with a dehumidifier? I am in Taiwan, and the air in my room is extremely humid, so that would seem to eliminate the swamp pump option--that's why I am imaging coupling it with a dehumidifier.
I am in a room that's about 80 sq. ft. There's a suspended ceiling with an attic above. The structure is composed of wood/ sheet metal with no insulation to speak of.
I do have a window unit, though it's older and costly to run. With the lack of insulation, any cold air that I run into the apartment is gone within 10 minutes of shutting it off. This is problematic because spending $2-300/ month to cool this fuck hole is wasteful in more way than one.
I am open to DIY solutions (obviously)/ alternative options.
I was also thinking about the coper wire/ fan solution, but I can't imagine that would be more cost effective. (Simply running more energy to the freezer to make ice.)
I also don't really need a wide reach for the cool air in my already small apartment. I just want an area roughly the size of a queen size bed to be continuously cooled to 27°(+/-1°).
Any ideas would be helpful--I was even considering sleeping in a tent and somehow piping AC in. I just want to be able to sleep without waking up in a puddle of sweat and without breaking the bank.
>>1190260
lol no dehumidifier would be able to keep up
>>1190261
I was thinking about putting the dehumidifier on my sink and then putting the swamp at the other side of the room. But I am guessing 80 sq. ft. is too small for any gains. Retarded idea, sorry.
>>1190262
Taipei is currently at 85% humidity--would a swamp cooler lower the temperature in this kind of environment enough to hit my 27° goal?
I found a shitty old TV with an interesting defect. Pic related. You turn in on and all that shows up is a thin line, usually greenish in color. I love the creepy aesthetic of it glowing in the dark and would like to fill a whole room with TVs like this as part of a set design.
What causes this? Is there a way I could reliably reproduce this effect in another TV?
Basically, if I get some more shitty, ancient TVs, what should I cut/smash/pull to cause this exact malfunction?
Vertical deflection failure. If you let it run it will burn a line in the phosphor which will always be visible on the picture.
To reproduce simply cut one wire to the vertical yoke connections.
i had a tv that had brightness knob, color and something else, cant remember but if you turned it all the way you would get that result exactly.

be advised
if handled improperly this monitor will blow up and might lodge thick shards of glass in your face
Why don't you have 8 drills anon?
You need 8 drills.

How can you even without 8 drills?

Speaking about stress and impact resistance what is stronger, granite or concrete? Thanks.
concrete with a steel mesh is the strongest
young concrete is much weaker than old concrete
concrete is good under compression, but terrible under tension
what are you actually asking or trying to do?
