Looking to build my 2nd desk but I want it to look similar to the picture. How do I get the wood planks so close to each other without gaps, glue?

glue and clamps
I'm trying to make my table 70" long, where on Earth do I find a clamp that long or is there a simpler method for that
>>1193004
you don't clamp the ends
That's an Ikea Gerton. They're joined by finger joints.

set it on the side, fixing it to ground and put a weight on int?

additionally. use dowels between the pieces. drill holes that fit snugly so you have to use a wooden block and hammer them together. might not even need clamping or weight that way.

you clamp front to back, no clamps needed on the sides. Longest clamp you need for something like this desk is 36".

That works. Pocket screws work great for this as well.

Anon watch a youtube vid. You can make it a mile long if u got long enough pipe. Be sure and alternate the grain.
Do pic related and get to sanding.
Everything u need should be at your local hardware store.

But if u clamp it right u dont need dowels. I built a 3/4" walnut bandpass box. No cracks. Ever.

So it's not just flat faces glued together? Butcherblock makes way more sense learning that.

Yeah, nah. Different things mate. When he said finger joints (picture related) he was talking about making boards longer. To make something wider often it is just butt jointed. Tongue and groove joints are sometimes used. Biscuits and dowels also. Butcher block is laid end grain up, which is a completely different way of doing things.

You could also use biscuits if you have a table router
