These are my hydroponic tomatoes grown under LED lights,

I built the automatic dripper system and LED lights myself, the lights only consume 120w, they are passively cooled to an average of 52 degrees celsius and are more then enough to grow full size beefsteak tomatoes.

This tent setup is 100% automatic, i plant the seed/seedling, fill up the reservoir, and leave the tent alone until the tomatoes are ready.

What are you growing hydroponically?

I'm interested in doing this with some peppers over winter. Can you give details on how you made the dripper system. Does it have a drain and return back to a tank?
>>
>>1190258
What about plant nutrients? Do you just use some water soluble nutrients?
>>
>>1190258
>>1190259
see
>>>/out/1029564

There've been a few through there from time to time. Nice simple setup and the tomatoes look great.
>>
Looks really good. What is your substrate?
>>
>>1190258
I just found out about hydroponics, bought some stuff to see how it fairs.
>>
>>1190267
Dripper system?
>>
at what size of operation does hydroponics result in a positive revenue as opposed to negative? maybe i could convert my shed into it, especially since hydroponics veg seem to ripen and taste better faster
>>
>>1190293
Depends totally on what you grow. With the right plant, grown professionally, any hydroponics system will yield positive revenue. Especially in illegal countries.
>>
Post more pics pls. I want to copy this setup. Looks economical and compact.
>>
cheapo led grow lights can be had from aliexpress...would it be better to just get a shop light and 4ft grow bulbs instead?
>>
>>1190314
hydroponics is illegal in some places?
>>
>>1190293
Build a greenhouse. Use supplemental lighting to manipulate seasons.
>>
>>1190258
Post your whole setup please and where did you order the LEDs? I see that they are cobs.
What About the wiring? Got a Controller board? Show more

Its a drain to waste system, if you return the excess back to the tank you change the concentration and ph everytime you water the plants, by draining to waste the plants always get the same nutrients/ph.

>>1190272
i do, powder form, same fertilizer mhpgardener on youtube uses, 2 part calcium nitrate, 2 part masterblend 4-18-38 and 1 part epsom salt.

>>1190280
50% coco, 50% perlite, comes premixed in a bag.

>>1190293
as people answered, depends on what you grow, and if you're growing indoors or outdoors

>>1190347
will do

>>1190419
cheapo led lights from aliexpress preform poorly and are never the wattage they claim to be.

>>1190615
Taking more pictures now, i ordered pretty much all the parts for the lights from two sites, one is Components Distributers Inc (CDI) and the other is cobkits.com, the cobs are Luminus CXM-22 3500k-90CRI, the heatsink is a mechatronix ModuleLED MEGA 13450-b-hbg, gotta also buy the connectors kit from mechatronics so it connects properly to the Meanwell HGB-60-1050 Power supply, i also got the BJB model 47.319.2033.50 connector for the cob and a LEDiL Angelina reflector that connect to it.

We're forced to hide all our gardening indoors here in New Zealand :(
>>
>>1190636
Why though?
>>
>>1190645
2/3 of produce is canabis.
>>
>>1190645
Somebody might steal their weed.
>>
>>1190548
He's talking about growing weed.
>>
>>1190738

Or tomatoes.
>>
>>1190740
Lets not kid ourselves here, tomatoes are piss easy to grow.
>>
>>1190741

Not truly great heirloom tomatoes.
>>
>>1190701
So is Kentucky's, they haven't moved everything indoors and started trolling memes about gardening being illegal...

How fucking retarded do you have to be to attract the coppo, just be friendly to your neighbours get a dog, genuinely garden. And just have a pit under your workshop to grow "tomatoes" in. Also don't sell your tomatoes to retards, I sell mine to some hells angle guy who mixes tomatoes with other small time growers.
>>
>>1190766
Dude, my neighbor is a cop, maybe i should rat out his little gardening project.
>>
>>1190747
Really? Why is that Anon?
>>
>>1190781
The only population centres bigger then 3 people in this country are Auckland and Wellington, and they are both full of retarded liberals who don't do gardening.
>>
>>1190783
So you can't garden now because of Reddit?

Probably the elections are coming up pretty soon. If we don't pull a Donald Trump and miracle based Winnie into power then there's a high chance that John Oliver will be our new god king who will abolish fun and merriment and institute nation wide free blowjobs for African immigrants courtesy of the evil white people (never mind the fact that New Zealand was mostly drunken Irish and British people trying to get away from bullshit).

Am I rambling? I feel like I am.
>>
>>1190801
Will the Africans be allowed to garden though?
>>
>>1190556

Glass is expensive, hard to insulate well and fragile.
>>
>>1190801

Your country has been betrayed by your politicians. They have sold you into slavery. Every year a trade surplus, every your a current account deficit.

You export more than you import, yet you get deeper in debt. This should not be possible. With traitors who should be hanging from lamp posts, it is. They have sold your economy to foreigners for beads.
>>
>>1190817
I think you underestimate just how much park benches with little fences carved into them cost.
>>
>>1190819

how much do they cost. I'd like to put one in my back yard.
>>
>>1190627
Thanks for the extra pics!!! What COB is that one your using. Do you have two types, or just one?
>>
>>1190913
sry im a dumb ass, just read farther down.
>>
>>1190816
Then use plastic?
>>
>>1190626
Nice, though I see you went for white light COBs, have you thought about trying ones geared towards having peaks in the photosynthetic range? I've seen a few COBs (admittedly I think they were chineese brands) which had peaks in the photosynthetic range and were more purpley rather than something geared for human lighting. Theoretically you get more bang for your buck that way.
>>
>>1190816
There are cheapo double layer plastic sheets
>>
>>1191321
OP here, purplish LEDs are far inferior to full spectrum white LEDs when it come to growing plants, sure purple LEDs peak in the photosynthetic range so on paper they should be better, but in practice when you do a side by side the white LED always takes the cake.
>>
Yo. This is probably a silly question but I didn't want to start a new thread for it and couldn't find much on it using google.

Can I use reindeer moss for mulch?
>>
>>1190258
cannabis grow forums usually have an LED section that are way deep in this stuff
>>
>>1192938
Anything organic can be used as mulch.
