So I got a friend who has problems. I want to help them but I have no idea how.
They have a long history of parental issues(control freaks) and they have been a grown ass adult for some time now(most of a decade). To summarize a great deal, they basically stand still when shit upon and refuse to take any evasive or preventive action "because that means they win".
What the hell do you call that(beyond stupidly stubborn) and is there any particular tactic to addressing it?
If things go the way I suspect, the parents will die in the next 20 years and my friend will end up homeless. Ideally I would like to prevent the homeless part.

How much of a relationship deal breaker is a boob job?

OK, /adv/ this is half story, half question.
My parents are nuts. They are also charismatic ministers at an evangelical church, and well-known VIPs in our podunk hometown.
About twenty years ago, some starry-eyed new convert family gratefully asked my parents to be their child's godparents. My parents agreed - and decided this also gave them the power to choose the child's name. Being assholes, they chose RAHAB NEVEAH HOLY DELIVERANCE (surname).
The family awkwardly laughed it off, and named the child Katy Ann or something cute like that. Well, damned if mom was going to accept that. She just kept referring to the child by Rahab Neveah Holy Deliverance in front of the congregation, putting it in the birth announcements, writing it on the child's birthday cards until the whole community just went along with it and nobody dared call the child Katy.
As a kid, I thought this story was sad and kind of funny, and just filed it in memory under "evidence my parents are sick fucks, article #4368".
Now, though, my wife and I are expecting our first child, and my parents have already picked out a name, and are getting birth announcements printed up with said (awful) name on it. I have no problem telling them to fuck off, but I am also afraid that through sheer determination, they will make sure everyone in our hometown only knows the child as the name they picked out.
How do I keep my kid from being branded JEHU POLYCARP (surname) for the rest of his life?
Oh, and they are entertaining "squirrel" as a second middle name, or as a replacement for Polycarp, because it was the name of their favorite dog.

I am 19 years old, I'm going through some hard times, I have a shitty paying job and no studies, I'm getting paid 300 or less this month working 6-9 hours a day as a bartender, I live with my mum, we recently moved in to a shitty house together, no one loves me except her, and even then I don't like her and we don't get along well. I have lots of friends but everyone goes their way in the end.
I was suicidal before, I am done with depression and sadness, and the option of going out is becoming more and more real because after all, I hate this heartless world for it's nature.
The legacy I leave is my music, I have written and relased lots of it. I want it to be my profession, but you know that shit's not easy, and otherwise I don't want to do anything because it's not worth it to just live like this.
This is all going nowhere.

My car's been having trouble starting up recently, I jump started it few times and now that doesn't even work anymore.
This is my first car and I don't have too much experience with car maintenance, the battery's about. I'm thinking of taking the car to an auto shop and double check it's not a connection issue, then buy the battery there and just have them install the battery. But that means I'd have to tow the car and probably would cost 2-300 dollars in total.
Should I just buy the battery and install them myself? I don't have shit for tools, even the jumper cables I used was a friend's.

Probably isnt even battery. Could be spark plugs or fuel pump.could even be air filter (unlikely though) Replace plugs and tap the fuel tank rougly where the pump is with a solid object and try and jump start it again. Once it runs leave it idle run for 15 minutes.
