total crapshot but does anybody happen to know this game? I just tried it in WinUAE, but I can't figure out how to read the intro text. It scrolls by quickly. I can drag the image out of the screen, but I can't scroll back up to re-read the text. If anybody happens to have the manual, that would be perfect.

Make sure A500 speed (68000, 7 Mhz) is selected in the config of WinUAE.
>>
>>3442374
holy shit, that did it.

Thank you so much, anon.
From what little I gathered this is like the perfect IF game for me, with its slight dose RPG mechanics, the subject and the use of imagery. Really looking forward to play this one.

Are there other games like this?
>>
I would love to play this and the other German-exclusive text adventures for Amiga but my German is terrible.

I have no excuse, I've been living in Germany for months

What a brilliant idea! They show me an ad and I don't have to pay for software. I wonder if it'll catch on.

>>
>>3442320
Never used it, but considering it's age all the ads would be included in the original package and the program would never access the network, yeah? That wouldn't bother me, as long as ads were presented in an unobnoxious manner. Modern adware just ain't like that, though.
>>
>>3444351
Funny, but the version I have contains no ads at all. I think they just didn't find a sponsorship for it.

what's the best way to safe guard consoles at a con ?

Don't want console , controllers or games stolen

Make sure you or your crew stand by it? If you've got it set up at a con, chances are people are gonna want to ask about it or talk to the owner anyway.

Speaking as someone that has worked for/at both big expos and also done his own small scale thing for a good few years I can say this on the paranoid types.

If you dont want it to get damaged? Dont stick it out.
Dont want it to get nicked? Dont stick it out
Dont stick out expensive games, use bootlegs, most work the same and to most look the same

Rare/obscure stuff is interesting to stick out, but most the time it will get ignored unless its the only thing left to play.

Also know how to quick fix things on the go, keep a mini tool kit to hand with some alcoholic wipes

if you are doing it at a venue scout the place first, check the locals and what they are like.

Dont stick expensive things near a busy area.

Always have somebody overseeing the machines,

Generally most people going to these things are ok types, they wont nick stuff, you an tell the dodgy types a mile off, so keep an eye on them.

On my own thing I have had a Mario Kart and Perfect dark stolen (the latter was almost 100% unlocked)
The closest to damage ive had is a pint being spilled near my Vectrex, glad those things have a handle and that time somebody didn't turn the power off before removing a game on a 2600 then trying to force the game in the wrong way.
Thats been in the 6 years ive been doing it.

These days I use mutli carts, flashcarts and modded machines. Harder for them to nick something without somebody noticing.

At the likes of huge expos last year its been both a gamecube controller and a copy of Goldeneye, considering the scale of it all

No FLOSS culture until recently (e.g., with Ruby). Japan has generally been behind the West in all things Internet.

What does /vr/ play their Game Boy/Game Boy Color/Game Boy Advance games on?

At home I use a SGB2 or GBP depending on my mood. If I want to use a portable I use a GBA SP2 or Micro depending on my mood. If I'm traveling somewhere I expect things to get rough or dirty (like hikes or beaches), I use an old DS Lite with a broken top screen.

I'm playing SoR right now and I play as Blaze even though she is considered the hardest character, and I never played this game before, but she is just too cool and cute.
In other genres(such as jrpgs) I frequently pick lame characters/classes if I like how they look.
Anyone else here prefers style over usefulness?

Your opinion on Famicom Tantei Club: Part II? Why didn't this game get localized in the west? I'm sure it would of been praised for it's point and click like adventure feel.

Suppose they didn't feel like it would make them enough money.
Translators want to get paid so adventures and the like have a higher investment than other games.

SimCity thread? Any other /vr/ SimWhatever game is cool too.

I'm trying to get gud at the Dullsville scenario on Classic. What's the best way to lay out the city while keeping costs, traffic and crime down?

>that minimap

But seriously, isn't the best policy 6x6 blocks with roads around, and make sure to keep residential away from industrial due to pollution? Or I might be thinking of SC2000's property value behavior instead.

Crime is obviously a police station issue. Just block sensibly (no 3x3s, and no 9x9s) and pace your growth. Fill in small, weird gaps with parks.

What is the appeal to Sims? Where does the entertainment come from? I obtained Sims 2000 free from GOG during a sale about a year back but can't convince myself to try it. I didn't like Transport Tycoon Deluxe if it is anything like that

I love the Turok games for N64.

Shadows of the Empire is also sort of based on a comic (a novel as well), and it's one of my favorite parts of the now extinct EU.

I'd like to say Rogue Trooper or Judge Dredd but they didn't get any good games until Rebellion touched them.

Gonna have to go with the Spawn games since the SNES release was tough and took skill and the NAOMI/Dreamcast released was also fucking badass.
