So, considering the wiki stickies are down, and I trust /vr/ for it synicism, how good is Raspberry Pi for emulation on TV? How much of a hassle is setup? What consoles can I expect to be supported?

Can I get some feedback from elitists who hate everything, please?

Use a PC if you're looking at Pi because it's versatile
Use a Wii if you're looking at Pi because it's cheap
If you're the 1:20 who are somewhere between the two,use Android since you must not care about 240p anyway
>>
>>3454485
PC is cheap because everybody already has one.
You just have to move it around or buy extra cables.
Can Android devices run Higan Balanced nowadays?
>>
>>3454453
Honestly, it's barely any better than just setting up a Wii with Homebrew. Might be worth it if you're specifically wanting to play on an HDTV, but then you might as well just connect your PC to it instead.

Anyone here have any memories of this?

I have a very serious and important question for you /vr/ which has been weighing on my mind recently:

Who lives in the cities depicted in the backgrounds of the Sonic the Hedgehog games?

People? Intelligent animals? Aliens? Is Sonic set on another planet? Are we in Rocket Raccoon territory?

What was MS-DOS gaming like?
Was it always "DOS masterace 16-bit peasants BTFO" or was it "ooga booga wooga"?

Ever play Dungeon Keeper?
>>
It was a like a more powerful SNES that you got to pick your own soundcard for.
>>
The initial MS-DOS systems were 16 bit. The original IBM PC still had 8 bit aspects.

MS-DOS gaming doesn't really exist. DOS is a simple operation system in which games can be run but there is no user interface or anything specific to DOS like you had for instance in 16 bit Windows games.

MS-DOS was also used on several distinct platforms.

Personally I gotta give it to double jump
>>

screw attack really isn't even that useful in practice, at least on its own. most of its usefulness comes as a result of the space jump, which is the true best upgrade in the game.

What is the best POP clone? I know blackthorne and flashback as well as pic related. The controls are a pain in the fukn dick in all these games especially prince of persia. Id almost certainly prefer playing a regular platformer but puzzle shit is fun i guess

controls are fine, you just have to be aware that you're grid-locked

in fact it's easier to control than being unlocked

Shitposting aside is the genesis way better?
Seems like all the multiplats run nicer on it
And theres generally less slowdown in games
I will give Super Nintendo some points because it has Mario Kart
249 posts and 42 images submitted.
>>
For action games, generally, the Mark V was the superior system.

However, the Super Nintendo still has a bunch of great exclusives.

Both systems are very good and hating one or the other is dumb.
>>
This will quickly descend into a shitposting extravaganza.

It should NEVER be about the hardware. You should only ever care about the games.

And both consoles had amazing libraries.
>>
>>3452747

This, on paper Genesis has CPU while SNES has better everything else, but sometimes the Genesis can have really colorful, bright graphics (Ristar), and SNES can have action-packed BLAST PROCESSING stuff (Wild Guns).

These console wars and people techno-babbling about CPU clock speed are just parroting 30 year old memes created by marketing teams.

I enjoyed the games in their day. It was impressive unlike Catacombs 3D or Wolfenstein 3D where the ground was flat, there can be angled and heights to the floors. I got the second one because I really, really enjoyed 7, and the second Underworld continued on from the first half of 7 bridging into part 2. Plus the second one was more colorful with different zones. I found the Guardian a compelling villain (never did play 9, so I have no clue if he was ever defeated).

I have yet to try Gone Home, is that a not /vr/ game I am thinking of?

Origin games like id games pushed for more and more powerful hardware from PCs, but they were still quite an experience. I was a fan of their releases (not pictured, my Privateer game with speech pack).
>>
>>3452678
>I'm too much of a fucking pleb to get used to the controls

gone homo is fucking boring shite, I got so into underworld for a while that I was pressing X to walk backwards when I tried to go back to FPS games.
