You can press the History Eraser Button to completely wipe one game of your choice from existence. Which is it?
TWIST: If the game is part of a series, then its sequel takes its place and retains the exact same amount of fame & popularity as its erased predecessor. (so FF8 becomes the new FF7, for example)
Earthbound. Doesn't even take a second thought. Mother 3 can be successful I guess at least it may have spared us the levels the retro bubble has inflated to
>>3577015
Wouldn't bubble inflation follow right along with fame & popularity? We'd just be looking at $150 Mother 3 carts then, right?
Zero Mission. That game ruined Samus.
Post the item you have which is worth the most in price and value.

Lulz
Was it incest?
Yes. and it was glorious to watch.
>>3572336
A pure and magnificent incestuous love.
probably one of the best love stories in vidy to this day.
the moment when you open the dungeon that can only be opened when two people who truly love each other sing together is one of the most touching moments I have ever played
Come to think of it the whole story and characters from Lunar was far better than any JRPG competition I can think of

>desert level is the worst level
Why is this the case in older games every time? You literally can't name an exception to this rule.
But that's wrong, jumping on quick-sand in desert levels is a hell of a lot better than the sluggish movement in water levels.
>>3587753
Water levels at least are pleasing to the eye and have good music to match
desert levels suck in modern games too
it's just a boring shit setting, but I guess it's easy to design

This is my first full-lenght video. Can you give me some advice? Do you think you can help me to improve my English? I found out making youtube content about your hobby is good way to learn foreign language. And my hobby is retrogaming :) So there it is. I do believe I can find some good and willing people here. Am I right?
Also, do you think doom-philosophy can fit in turn-based gameplay?
>>3587280
Not retro.
>>3587283
Ok. For me retro is not only nostalgia. If gameplay and graphic (you can play in ASCII mode) is retro-style it means it gives retro-experience. Roguelike, dungeon-crawlers are retro by principle, not by year of production :)
>>3587286
>for me retro is...
Nobody cares, read the sticky.
HI, I'm looking for an old game I once played. I'm going to offer as much possible detail as I can but I only played the game for a short bit due to the circumstances so I'm limited in knowledge.
I don't know if it's classified as a puzzle game, but I think it is. The game was on a cd, I can't remember what system is was from but I know it wasn't ps2. The system case opened like a dreamcast or gamecube would for the disc location.
It was from pre 1999 as I was in high school at the time, though I suspect it was 1996-8 that it happened. Not saying the game was released then.
In the game you'd play as a brother and sister pair. At the beginning of the game you can only play the brother. (I believe kids) And you're trapped in some kind of weird nightmare (dream I think) And you have to escape. You started in a house and I remember you could leave through a kitchen out into a garden that had like a hedge maze.
Exploring around I found the sister who was trapped in some bird cage but from what I saw it looked like you had to figure out how to free her, then she could travel into areas that he couldn't because she was shrunk and small compared to the brother.
The screen was a fixed top down screen, didn't rotate or change. Like in Zombies ate my neighbors (though I don't know that the game had any other similarities to it) I think you could get weapons and attack things, because I remember trying to kill an enemy hopping around in the garden but it was unkillable or I just didn't know how. (may have been a pumpkin)
Thank you for any help
Doesn't ring a bell. Have a bump.

Is it possibly Nights into dreams on the Saturn?
it wasn't nights into dreams, sorry I can't be more helpful with details
I just bought this today. I don't know much about it except that it's very rare and is supposed to have the best audio for Sega Genesis games.
I'm also thinking about burning some Sega CD games but I heard they might damage the system. What are your thoughts about this?
>>3586860
I don't play Genesis games on anything else anymore although I do find the audio on the original "High Definition Graphics" model 1 to be a little punchier.
Damage the system? BULLSHIT. Burn away.
how would a contact-less, passive media format damage the system? it's not like burned disks generate their own lasers
>let's put rockman music in our fighting game
EX3 sounds like a Sonic Adventure game at times, and it's fucking cool.
Listen to Iron Eyes and Sharon's theme.
>>3586825
You say that like it's a bad thing.Besides, the soundtrack is one of the saving graces of that game.
Guile's theme in EX3 is so damn good.
What tools would you recommend for a pleb who's never played the first Deus Ex before?
Any needed fan patches/mods like Vampire the Masquerade needs or should it be played completely vanilla?
>>3586704
Unlike VtM:B the game wasn't released in an unfinished, broken state so it's perfectly playable without any mods. GMDX is a solid mod for another playthrough though.
>>3586704
I only play vanilla flavored original, my nigger.
>>3586704
>>3586710
I know this may be considered sacrilege, but I honestly think just playing it with GMDX on is the best way to play it.
In my opinion GMDX goes the extra mile to try and be as unnoticeable as possible while adding a lot to the game. It doesn't touch anything that already worked, and polished up some of the less visually interesting levels.
>that feel when having a damn good coffee, some cherry pie and playing some Link's Awakening on the Super Game Boy
Doesn't get better than this, pals.
>>3586559
sounds comfy man, and that's my favorite way to play my favorite zelda game. Although I wish I had a super gameboy 2 which fixes the slight speedup of the first version
>>3586559
Give yourself a present. Every day, OP.
>>3586564
I only recently read up about that speedup thing, honestly never noticed/never bothered me, if it was speed down maybe I would have noticed though.
Also forgot to say, I'm using this frame.
>>3586591
You know what's up.
Destiny of an Emperor is an NES RPG Classic. Figured I'd make a one time post that a RPG Maker VX Ace script set exist that emulates this classic games mechanics, in case anyones interested and into that sorta thing.
The scripts are inside an open source copy of Destiny of the Dragon Lord, a game made with the scripts that meshes Destiny of an Emperor and Dragon Warrior 1.
The scripts themselves aren't retro, so captain obvious can hold his post. Only people who love NES RPGs and making retro like games would appreciate these scripts, and thats' why /VR/ beats /V/ by a mile for a one time post.
Thanks.

Forgot the link. D' oh
>>3586483
I don't konw much about Destiny of an Emperor. Would you mind describing it OP? What makes it a classic of NES RPGs?
>>3586483
>NES classic
>544x416 resolution
>HD font with anti-aliasing
Try harder.
Fuck this confusing piece of shit Zelda II ripoff!
Also, this game has a horrible password system. It feels like this game was published by LJN.
Battle of the Olympus = Zelda II: The adventure of Link = Faxanadu >>>>>>> RAMBO.
>>3586460
What similarities does Faxanadu have with Zelda II?
>>3586458
I remember the time when The Angry Vodeo Game Nerd reviewed this.
is n64 emulation really that bad as they say?
doesn't it run the games at 60fps that usually run at like 20 fps
The problem with it is the accuracy of the emulators themself, half of the games don't work most of the time unless you fuck around with the settings. That is because most emulators for the n64 are only built around certain games to work i.e mario 64
>>3586167
Only Goldeneye has a frame rate fix, that i'm aware of.
>>3586167
You do get speed and better resolution, but:
>display errors and graphical bugs
>bugs in gameplay
>games freezing and crashing, general stability problems
>some games won't boot at all
There's various patches, plugins and workarounds to get specific games to work (with I think different emulators), but it's inherently a kludge.
You will also pretty much need a proper N64 controller, and then a USB converter.

It's yours isn't it OP?
>genius

Unremarkable. It's lacking on actual descriptions and insights about what the levels get right and wrong. It's not really an analysis really, it's just you telling us some of the things you like about the game.
Take a look at this guy. That's an analysis. Keep working on it OP.
