So, are there any other arpgs with a battle system similar to Parasite Eve or Vagrant Story? That mixes turn-based elements with real-time movement?

>>
try Hybrid Heaven for the N64
or maybe the megaman battle network series
honestly there aren't that many similar games
>>
>>4138115
No. Think about it. They were made in the late 90's, when Slasher games started to emerge in PS2 era(Devil may cry, god of war etc)

It didn't serve any purpose. Was it tactical? No, at least not any more tactical than any turn based game. Was it packed with action? Again, not really, more like exchanging blows in real akwardness.

That mini RPG game in Ehrgeiz game was similar, but without turn based, real time like Diablo.

Did Japanese game companies give bad team members other, lower budgeted projects, to work on, so they wouldn't mess up the good games they were working on?

I think pic related is a good example.

LoL, higher ups will always can employees they don't like, due to performance or just personal dislike. This is universal, pretty sure even alien companies do this

The team that made Silent Hill was the B squad of misfits at Konami. Also Street Fighter 3 was the B squad of 2d artists that stayed after a bunch of the old Capcom guard left.

In Megaman 3 why is there that glitchy line of pixels above Shadow Man?
10 posts and 2 images submitted.
>>
Because MM3 is a rushed, glitchy and laggy mess.

Play using this :

http://www.romhacking.net/hacks/992/

It fixes all the glitches, all the lag. It also has some new additions a couple of which are questionnable but overall it's really great.
>>
Looks like Top Man's name is spaced a lil awkwardly.
Probably 'cause it was a laggy mess.

I was a Commodore 64 kid growing up and I want to go back and play the games I missed on the Spectrum, Amiga and similar systems. What games would you recommend trying and why?

Willing to try any genre, any quality level, just something that's worth playing to experience it. So bad it's good, god awful you must try it to see how bad it is, amazing game you will love til the day you die, it's all good.

Let me give you a rundown of some good Amiga games I can remember... non exclusives but probably best played on Amiga.
Also it would help if you would say if you're going for emulation, OCS/ECS or AGA Amiga.

>Cannon Fodder 1/2
>Syndicate
>Shadow of the Beast
>Turrican I/II/III
>Another World
>Banshee
>Gloom Deluxe
>Walker
>Jungle/Desert Strike
>Chaos Engine 1/2
>Agony
>Alien Breed 1/2/3D
>Settlers
>Genetic Species
>Speedball 1/2
>Elite II
>Breathless
>Zool
>Lemmings 1/2
>Flashback
>Worms
>Pinball Fantasies
>Slam Tilt
>Stunt Car Racer
>Apidya
>Super Frog
>Chuck Rock 1/2
>Disposable Hero
>Fire & Ice
>Hired Guns

That's as much as I could recall being my favorites.
>>
The best games were ported around among those 4 systems anyway.

No you weren't. But we can help you out with recommendations if you tell us what games you enjoyed playing with your dad or the pedo who lured you into the van with C64 games.

The fake is of far greater value, in it’s deliberate attempt to be 'real', it’s more real than the real thing.

I always thought the Doom and Quake maps were too otherworldly.

I prefer the level design in games like Duke3d and Blood. Looks more like places were real people live and work.
>>
>>4136454
I can't.

>>4136467
Blood's start with Caleb coming out of the grave is really neat. Duke's start is good, too.
>>
For some reason start.map is really cozy to me. It's just you, a shotgun, and an endless breeze. No monsters, and no threats unless you're going into the Hard portal.

Speculation thread: What is the likely hood of classic GB games being "colorized" by the community in the future? I dont know anything about GB programming so Is it just more trouble than its worth?

Found this thread and it got me wondering

It's very much in the realm of possibility. There's a hack for first gen pokemon games that fully colorizes them a la GSC.

That said, getting a colorization hack running would require decompiling the code and modifying it to write to the GBC's palette data, as well as loading the corresponding palette assignment data for each background tile and sprite. It's not impossible, but it's very advanced as far as romhacking goes.
>>
I'd prefer not to mess with original Artistic intent like that. Incidentally, why don't you just play on an SGB?
>>
Someone is making a colour version of SML2
