Why is the NA SNES so expensive yet I found a Super Famicom on ebay for like 22 bucks?
Are SNES games over valued?
The NA version is easier to modify to play any SFC/SNES cartridge.

>modify
>not having an adapter

Normalfags don't care about originality, they care about simplicity.
I used Googone to clean the value village sticker off the wood panel on my Atari 2600 and now that place is stained a darker brown than the rest of the wood.
How do I correct my mistake and restore the wood?
It's not real wood, you probably dissolved part of the adhesive probably just take it completely off with the goo gone, clean it and use an even layer of new adhesive like 3m spray
Mine is the Sears one which is real wood.
Clean the rest of it.
Does /vr/ play any DOS games regularly?
>>4142176
Used to, but no way anymore.

Master Of Magic. Used to play MOO and that Roguelike Goldbox game... Oh right, Dungeon Hack.
Shadow Warrior and Blake Stone is still in my backlog.
Settlers 2
SimCity 2000
Master of Orion 2
Master of Magic
Heroes of Might and Magic 2
Princess Maker 2
Darklands
These games have a permanent place on my hard disk.
Did they censor much as NoA? Or at all?
Not as much but they were ahead of the curve and had their own rating system before the ESRB.

I was playing Swords of vermilion, I saw crosses. That would had be censored on news and snes.

Why are so many highly-held retro JRPG's so formulaic? Is it just me or are most of the retro-JRPG's follow a clear-cut plot / gameplay formula. The only difference being the subtle intricacies in the emotional ploys and some of the combat.
Are there any JRPG's that break this mold?
(Pic unrelated.)
>>4141823
Evo quest for eden.
Genre conventions, op. You go into a jrpg expecting certain constants.
See also Sturgeon's Law if you're looking for something that breaks the mold.
JRPGs follow certain genre conventions just like all other game genres. Since JRPGs are story-heavy, those conventions include tropes and plot elements.
That said, you can try some of the following games:
Baroque (very dark, with a vague story)
Sweet Home (more of a horror movie than a fantasy quest)
MOON: Remix RPG Adventure (a satire and examination of JRPG conventions)
Contact (see above, but for video games in general)
List the top 5 (retro) games of any genre you like.
Personally for top 5 traditional, turn-based JRPGs, I'd say:
1. Chrono Trigger
2. Suikoden II
3. LUNAR: The Silver Star
4. Phantasy Star IV: The End of the Millennium
5. Earthbound
survival horror
1. Silent Hill 1
2. Hellnight
3. Enemy Zero
4. Clocktower (playstation)
5. Dino Crisis
I'd do a jrpg one, but it'd be too tough to narrow it down to just 5 so i won't bother
>>4141582
2D Platformer
1. Super Mario Bros 3
2. Mega Man 2
3. Sonic 3 & Knuckles
4. Super Metroid
5. Castlevania Symphony of the Night

Enemy Zero is garbage. Swap it out for RE2 or Parasite Eve and you're good.
>trying to beat this stage for a week
>everyday I wake up and say to myself "I GOTTA BELIEVE"
>get to this stage
>can't beat it
>fail ten times in a row
>give up
>feel sad for the rest of the day
>next day
>I GOTTA BELIEVE
Why is it so hard VR is it because I'm white
>>4141496
are you playing the remaster? i had trouble with that stage for a good while as well
>>4141496
Yes.

WTF I thought Batsu was a good guy??
I never play PJ, what are some of the enhancements from RS?
>>4141486
It's a completely different game.
Some notable differences include teams of 3 instead of 2, better graphics, no load times, new characters, new story, etc.
Someone didn't finish story mode.
Name the best Video Game Movie, and why is it Double Impact?
>>4141419
I've been asking my self the same question for 23 years, and pic related is the only answer that rings true to me as a /vr/ slash /tv/ patrician kinosseur.
A dying man turned up an appearance more apt, more entertaining, and most of all, more memorable than in any other video game movie adaptation. Any I haven't even begun to talk about the rest.

Yup. Raul Julia alone made Street Fighter The Movie worth owning on Blu-Ray, his performance carried the movie.

What's your personal opinion on them? I noticed many collections had them appiled or an option.
Capcom arcade classics had it slighty appiled and Hyper street fighter 2 for ps2. a little for Genesis collection on ps2.
An option for PS3 Ultimate collection.
dont do that
>>4141243
Keep in mind people are playing with no crt scan lines or wrong sound input, lag input, etc.
They're already are modifications to the true gameplay.

It depends on the filter, it depends on the game, and it depends on your screen. This isn't really a universal "good or bad" question there's a lot of things you have to consider.
I use them, but I take special care to make sure they suit what I'm playing, and even then I'm mostly using tv mode filters.
Do you have any friends that are into retro? I used to have a couple but ever since I moved to Oklahoma I can't find anyone who shares interest in older games.
>Do you have any friends

>Do you have any friends that are into retro?
No not really. I have a co-worker that enjoys pinball and we go out every so often to play but that's about it. Most of my friends stopped playing games and the few that still do play new stuff.
>>4141057
A coworker likes his Genesis and PS2. My brother has a Saturn that he plays sometimes. That's the closest thing.
Can I use a modded wii without a wiimote? Hate those things.
I'm currently using one of these
Wii Classic controller
Gamecube controller
<system of your choice> to Gamecube controller adaptor
A classic controller will let you fully control the wii menu without a sensor bar.
You could hack it to automatically boot to the homebrew channel or a USB Loader and use a Gamecube controller to control those menus.
Just started Y's III the other day. So far so good but the difficulty is quite high in my opinion. I found two spots where I can just stand and hold the attack button and after a few minutes I will level up, so I abused that and now I'm Level 9 in the second dungeon.
What are your opinions on this game/series ?
I also checked a FAQ for controls and saw thatThe maximum level is 16
The Final Boss of the first Dungeon was insanely difficult until I figured out how to use the Herb and the Power Ring and even then I left with about 10hp. Is the rest of the game this difficult?
>>4140921
It gets even harder. Better just play Oath in Felghana instead.
>>4140925
This. Felghana is great.
>>4140934
>>4140925
Well I just googled it and it looks amazing but I don't have an urge to play it on my PC or get a PSP to play it. I've been trying to play more of my SNES games and got an SD2SNES about a year ago. I have always heard good things about Y's and figured Y's 3 was a good place to start.
It's kind of weird how fast the game plays. Like the music sounds quite uptempo and the background animations at the entrance to the second dungeon go very fast.
Any other retro games that included these in their packaging?

Magic Knight Rayearth on the Saturn had a bunch of stickers in the manual. A couple of them were for memory cards too. This might just be the US version as it was done by Working Designs and they always did stuff like that.
Wonder Project J2 came with a memory pak.
I think doubutsu no mori (original Animal Crossing on N64) also had one.
Dragon Force on Saturn had a memory cart sticker. On ps1 raiden project and bloody bride did.
Hey /vr/, so I wanted to buy myself a Playstation 1, not because I want to get into collecting, but because of how much I miss my old games in the very late 90s.
I don't exactly like emulation and the occasional incompatible PS2 that struggles to run some games I am interested in (getting my sources here from Wikipedia).
I've already got a TV, but I am not quite sure which Playstation 1 model I should purchase. While I live in Europe, I noticed that most games on Ebay are from the USA.
Is it viable for a European to buy an NTSC console? And which model is currently considered the best one?
Get one one with a mod chip or solder yourself and a rgb scart cable (without 60hz is black and white) and original memory cards. The old one scph 1001 or something had digital out and cinch outs, link cable port and parallel port for VCD and cheat modules. Worn drives can be replaced with new ones from ebay.
SCPH-5xxx or 55xx.
Best DAC, they fixed the texture dithering issue, no fucked up CD drive, no overheating.
>>4140635
This.
Don't fall for the "Audiophile" SCPH-100x meme. They are utter shit.
