I guess you get what you expect. A Mario Kart in 3D. They didnt messed it up although i missed Koopa.
Id personally prefer N64 because it has more shortcuts/tricks (intended and unintended), awesome for speedrunning. What i like more about Super Mario Kart is the soundtrack and graphics.

I was speedrunning vidya as a kid, it's not necessary to be a streamer or a "pro" speedrunner to do them.

I used to always see the ad for this thing in those old Game Players game tapes, goofiest thing ever.
And the joystick itself looks like a Star Destroyer, but man of it didn't draw me in to buy it after 20+ years.

How come only Bloodlines was the 16-bit Castlevania game to get the jumping physics down correctly like the NES games?
Being able to change direction during your jump cycle was a mistake.
Wrong, Bloodlines isn't exactly like the NES games, it lets you change the direction you're facing while in mid-air. You can't change the trajectory of your jump, but you can hit enemies that come from behind, unlike the NES games.

Are there any ongoing projects that aim to preserve the original consoles, controllers and cartridges shells accurately, and then making them available as downloadable 3D files (that could later be produced/3D printed)?
People often talk about preservation of software through accurate hardware emulation, but I've never seem any serious move towards preserving the physical hardware itself.
You can make fairly accurate 3D scans with just a Kinect which is basically worthless, I have like three I got for $5. Presumably there are already 3D scans of almost anything with a nerd enthusiast following. If you're motivated enough to not just presume, make some yourself. Even if they're shitty, if there are enough of them out there they should be able to be composited into acceptably accurate models far before all examples vanish.
At this point, it's probably much more important to make models of rare and brilliant analog devices and machines.

I still plan on doing it as a personal project. I'm also looking into custom boxes.

Read the manual, just skip the part about the control icons and go directly to the neutral, context dependent mode.
Don't savescum or cheat.
Strength is the key attribute. It determines your carrying capacity and fighting prowess.
The your strength, the easier the game gets because you can carry around a lot of stuff without backtracking and excessive management.
Your skill points are limited. You shouldn't have issues if you learned a useless skill or got a low roll but try not to overdo it.
Melee combat is king, ranged weapons and offensive magic is too restricted to be a mainstay.

AFAIK Win 95 or 98 should be able to install Win3.1 too, IF you installed a full version of DOS beforehand.
