Can anyone tell me what the combo device was that had a Sega Genesis built into it? It was either an early DVD player, or a later VHS player that had an extra slot, remember seeing one on eBay a while back but didn't same the damn model or anything. I really want to add it to my collection even if it was a VHS player (still have tapes).
There's the Laseractive, which is a Laserdisc player with plug-in Genesis addon (sold seperately). If you saved your laserdiscs and have 1k to blow (plus extra for the Megadrive addon), its a functional thing. You also can't play Sega CD games on it.

There was the Amstrad Mega PC, a licensed 386 rig with a built in Genesis
A relative of mine was cleaning out a shed, and gave me some games she found.
I got Doom on snes, Double Dragon 2 on nes, and This Is Soccer 2005 on ps2.
How did I do?
>>2939023
Double Dragon 2 is pretty good.
>>2939023
Many people don't realize Carmack himself did the SNES port.
That being said, its the only slightly beter than the 32X version. Its damn near unplayable.
>>2939224
now imagine how bad it would have been if he DIDN'T have a hand in the port...
Hey /vr/, I'm trying to re-learn Spanish. However, no one around me speaks it except for my mom. What're are some RPGs with good Spanish translations, official or fan-made? Figure it'd be a fun way to get back into the language, on top of practicing speaking it.
I heard Dragon Quest 4 had a great official translation. Also see that DeJap has a Spanish translation for Tales of Phantasia.
Any recommendations would be great. Thanks.
>>2938913
Most popular games have fanslations in Spanish.
I'd recommend something with a simple plot like Mother 2.
I implore to learn real Spanish some Spain and not the nigger-tier Latin American version.
>>2938920
>some Spain
I meant:
>from Spain
Why would you want to learn spanish?
What is your opinion on bar arcades? Really only kind of bar i like now. awesome old games and it's easy to ignore people.

We have one here in town that I want to hit up. I'm just sad because it looks like they have the World Warrior version of SF2 instead of at least Hyper Fighting.
Any place that has arcade games is fine by me.

Something about having that movie playing bugs the shit out of me
Defend this game
No.
Music was ok https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wJRGbHLahJ4
Which e-celeb talked shit about this game? This is an all time classic.
Am I the only one who could never get past 6th place on this game? I mean I was literally as the announcer said "so terrible". Couldn't adapt to the trick system either yet I'm a beast at Tony Hawk games.
Coooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooollllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll BOARDERSSSS !

here we go
>>2937259
I get you.
For so many years I sucked at this game.
Then, one day, something just "clicked" and I started playing seriously and using the square button in a better way (if I recall correctly, that's the one used for drifting).
For tricks, I do what I always do in every single game: button mashing.
>>2937259
I beat this one with all the characters as a 9 year old.
When I tried it recently the controls blew my mind. The half pipe is sick if you know what you're doing though.
Hey vr.
When i was a kid i was allowed to choose one game by my parents.
I took extreme g even though i didnt know it. Played this game really often and love it untild today.
Its really fast has an uncommon soundtrack and a good difficulty level.
Im not really a fan of tron and i neither played f-zero as kid but this was perfect for me.
Did you played it as kid or recently andwhat do you think about it?
>>2929643
I played it as a kid, it rules. All the different bike... vehicle... things were really cool, the soundtrack was good, and you go fast as hell. It got pretty hype too, the stages were neat. My brothers only ever wanted to play the battle mode though, I thought the actual races were way more fun.
Any idea if the sequels were good? Anyone?
>going so fast you break the sound barrier
so fucking good
soundtrack was good
sequels were all excellent, building on the franchiseLOOP-DE-LOOPS

Ive recently been playing Metroid 2 and this game is pretty great
But what are some other good GB games?
>>2929383
Just finished that game a month or two ago. It was great.
I liked the other Metroids more though.
>>2929383
Red Arremer (Gargoyle's Quest)
Kirby 2
Seiken Densetsu (Final Fantasy Adventure)
SaGa 1 & 2 (Final Fantasy Legend 1 & 2)
Super Mario Land 2
Wario Land series
Link's Awakening
Final Fantasy Adventure
Pokemon
Gargoyle's Quest
Ghosts 'n Goblins
>>2929402
It's the worst of the three Metroid games, for sure, but it's still easily one of the best GB games.(I refuse to acknowledge anything after Super Metroid.)

Objectively top tier best jRPGs?
Not most memorable but best, in following terms:
>actual exploration
>no random encounters, or relatively low rate of them
>no tenaciously long spell/attack animations
>engaging with a sense of progression
>fun even today

What are your favorite retro racing games? All /vr/ platforms/subgenres welcome.
Daytona USA obviously related
Pretty good entry, ported to the ds
Kinda unknown though
>>2925890
I never played 64, but I played a ton of the original and Type 4.
The fact that pic related still doesn't work in MAME really bums me out. The console ports just don't cut it. Same with The Rock and Cruisn' Exotica.
I loved this one PC game called ultimate race pro, it was a lot of fun.
Have you played it yet, /vr/?

What do you think it did right?
What are the things in this game that to this day haven't been matched or surpassed?
What are the things that still make this game unique and memorable in 2016?
>>2905127
I think the atmosphere of the game in general still holds up as interesting in 2016. Considering the limitations of the n64, the world of OOT is still intriguing and mysterious even today I find, due to great graphic design and music/ sound design.
Also, the n64 controller was perfect for the game, simple A and B main buttons, C buttons for items, Z for targeting, it still feels great today.
>>2905127
>What are the things that still make this game unique and memorable in 2016?
First 3D Zelda.
>>2905127
The Forest Temple is still probably my favorite dungeon from any Zelda game. The combo of the art direction and the music is great. Really that entire section when you come out of the Temple of Time, all the way from Hyrule Castle Town to the Forest Temple, is very well done and hammers home how stark the contrast is between child Link's innocent colorful world and adult Link's dark and mysterious one.
