Anyone know where's the music of this trailer from? It's not in the game and I was wondering where did they get the song.
http://youtu.be/8J6J77XHLqY
This video was on a demo disc I got back in 2000 and the music always fascinated me. This month I finally got the PSP version.
What an awful video. Makes a great game look boring. As for the music, it might just be a public domain song, since it's clearly not related to Star Ocean.
So I just learned that if you hold start as the N64 turns on you enter memory card management mode.
When I use my old memory card, it says that it's damaged and cannot be read. Is there any way to try fixing it, or is it busted for good? It's no big deal, but I'm kind of interested in seeing what save files are still on there from games I rented from blockbuster.
>if you hold start as the N64 turns on you enter memory card management mode.
Thanks for the tip OP. I always wondered how to use that thing.
I'm waiting on my friend to give me Mystical Ninja before I drop a gad on a Memory Card and Goemon's Great Adventure.
Looking back, it's kinda funny that you had to drop extra to be able to save your game to lower the cost or make room in some N64 games. Makes you wonder how much better Nintendo could have made their games if they had just bundled a memory card with the console.
Hot dang.
No idea if it can be fixed, but here's a wild guess, if it says it's damaged, probably the save files are lost. If you manage to fix it, there won't be any of your old files there. I wish you luck though.
Also, is it a legit one like the one in the pic, or one of the 3rd party ones?

>is it a legit one like the one in the pic, or one of the 3rd party ones?
Not sure... it's red instead of gray, and says DOCS on it,
Is it just me or did n64 games not age well at all? I got a everdrive 64 recently and most of them are just terrible games.
Haven't you got the memo? Every game has aged bad. Doesn't matter if it's Symphony of the Night on PS1, Goemon's Great Adventure on N64 or Guardian Heroes on Saturn. They ALL aged BADLY! Like MILK!! XD
I'm from Australia btwn
Pretty much that, N64 is a meme.
>I bought an everdrive
>I just realized I don't really like this console
Ok, but I'm still confused as to why you feel the need to tell everyone about your fuckup.

Brave Fencer Musashi is the greatest game on the PS1

Mortal Kombat, Final Fantasy, Mario and Metroid just too name a few. I don't think these titles have been done to absolute death yet.
After Burner 2, Castlevania Rondo of Blood, Asterix, Knight Lore.
Turok 2 remaster hype!
Going to play this game on the NES tomorrow. What should I know, lads? Also any other dungeon crawlers? I like Daggerfall, but the dungeons for me were too hard in some cases and I guess I just want to play something more...beginner friendly?
>>2937210
read the manual. some of it's basic stuff you can skim over, but it'll give you a good overview.
Why would you play the American NES version of Wizardry?
Go for Might and Magic 3 or 4+5 for something beginner friendly.

Be prepared to spend an eternity rolling for decent stats to your characters, while this is boring and takes forever it saves time in the long run and also prevent shitloads of frustration.
Also the game autosaves your game after every battle. Why knowing this matters? If you find yourself brutally massacred in battles (this WILL happen a lot especially early on) hit that reset button before all your characters are kill and you don't have to spend all your money to revive your death characters or spending another eternity trying to roll another character with decent stats.
What were your first games for the Genesis?
I had this, Shining Force, Ecco the Dolphin and Rocket Knight Adventures
Thunder Force III and Sonic 1
ib4 australia-kun posting to say that "Exodus" is not the real name of the console
I received my genesis from my cousin when his parents bought him a playstation back in like 97.
Got a decent amount of games, but the stand-out ones to me were sonic 1, gunstar heroes, shinobi 3, and decap attack.

watching a vid now of Thunder Force 3 and I would've loved this. I had a cousin with an R-Type game on SNES that I couldn't get enough of
What does /vr/ think about themed worlds/levels?Has there ever been such thing as good water based world/level?
>>2935974
>Has there ever been such thing as good water based world/level?
Pic related if that fits the bill.
I think they can be good as long as there is enough variations in the levels to stay interesting. Like if you go between snowy overworld, ice cave, blizzard, etc. then you've got a pretty cool ice world. SMB3 may not exactly do that, but it's still broken up by underground levels and they're able to do some neat stuff with the ice block that's introduced in that world. The level design also changes pretty significantly in each level so I'd say even if it doesn't spin a ton of variations on the theme, it's still an example of how a themed world can be done well and maintain interest.
Also water world in Mario 3 is fine so suck a dick OP.
>>2935974
>no good water world meme
We need to cut this faggot bullshit out. Stop taking your opinions from ecelebs.
Best way to use a SFC controller on PC? I want to use mine to play emulators because I no longer have a SFC.
Get a USB adaptor off eBay, search "SNES USB". The best one looks like a black box and takes two controllers. I do all my gaming with this on a Pi.

This is the one.

Have you ever had to buy replacements? Cheap chink technology on Ebay almost always involves having to buy more after a few weeks when the first one breaks.
Sven Co-op is about to be released in Steam. Just a few hours left.
What do you guys think? If anyone giving a damn about this mod left that is.

Um...
"To celebrate the launch on Steam, we're holding a release party on IRC.
Date: Friday, January 22nd, 2016 at 6:00 PM EST"
"The exact time of release will be announced during the chat."
We still have over 24 hours before release. Besides, wouldn't it have made more sense to post a thread about this once it releases? Can't download it till then anyways.

ITT: games only you playedI'm a guy and I don't get why my parents got me this game? Honestly, it's a good game, but my parents wouldn't have known the difference, I remember it was my favorite game for a while, they didn't think it was weird?

Does the game boy have region lock?
>>2931808

>>2931808
the first Nintendo handheld with anything resembling region lock was the DSi
uhhhh this sucks, there's like.. no cool games here.
just a bunch of wussy crap, maybe stewart would like this board
this cool password system is pretty cool
does anyone else really wanna play a post-apocalyptic survival king of the hill game
If someone actually owned an Atari Lynx console, how did they even carry it with them?
Fannypack
>>2929049
I had one as a kid, my mom used to carry it with her in her bag.
Or a backpack.
Model 2 is quite a bit smaller but yeah, you needed a bag or case up until 1996
Does this game suck? Or is it just me?
Grew up in the NES era, but never played Tecmo Super Bowl. I tried it a couple days ago and the gameplay felt sloppy. Am I playing it wrong? Or is the game really just overrated?
It was the first NFL/Players* licensed NFL game worth a damn. Therefore, it was fun and hype back then to finally be playing a good football game. Its popularity resurged in recent years due to the amusing novelty of hacking it to include modern teams and players.
It's not a good game, though. I never found it fun to play other than it being an NFL game and me being a football-loving kid. So, taking the subject of the game away from it, yes Tecmo Super Bowl is an overrated game as far as play quality.
*most of the players, anyway. Certain QBs were excluded from the game due to them trying to control their own licensing rights
>>2938342
That's fair. I don't hate sports games or anything, and to be honest, I kinda like the original Tecmo Bowl. I find it has better gameplay.
The hockey games from that era, like Blades of Steel and NHL '94 aged so much better. Would you agree?
>>2938351
I agree more or less. I probably had more fun with TB than STB as well.
And yes, hockey games were better. I preferred Nintendo Ice Hockey to Blades of Steel, but BoS was fun in its own way. And the early 90s EA NHL games were my favorite of all sports games. Those have a modern romhack community following too.
