Where can I donwload Spyro 3 so I can burn it on a disc and play it on my ps1 without the ani-piracy thing?, I've downloaded like 5 different times, and I keep getting the error.
Uh, is your PS1 modded, or do you have a swap disc? You can't otherwise boot burned discs on a PS1.
Is that dragon riding a fucking skateboard?
Is that cover real?

Yeah, Its modded, I have no problem playing burned crash bandicoot games

Oh shit OP that looks awesome. Too bad it's seems hard to get.
So does anyone else use this? I just got a Raspberry Pi 2 and loaded the newest Retro Pie onto it. I can't seem to get it to make the folders for ROMs on the USB again, and the first time I got it to it won't show me I have ROMs on it.
Help for an anon?
A noble anon here recommended Lakka in a previous thread so I gave it a try and it works perfectly. Even though I'm using the PC Widnows version (live USB) they mention the Retropie too. Maybe you should look into it.
>>2933886
Thanks, anon. I'll see if Lakka works and remove the thread if it does.
I may give it another try but Retropie is a fucking mess. The whole frontend for a frontend thing is a massive waste of time and resources. Just give me an Arm7 build of Retroarch goddammit.
Hey does anyone know where I can find the maps that came with A Link to the Past? I can find the overworld map but I can't find the dungeon maps.
Press X
I just wanted to say that I'm so glad my grandmother had that map laminated when I was a kid. I still have that thing, and in perfect shape. Being laminated probably ruins its value, but it's not like I'm going to get rid of it, anyway.

Post expectations charts!

>implying I'm making political statements
Given the name of the game I expected to be a play on typical populist dictators, banana republic and all
However the game gets considerably easier once you became a totalitarian, anti-socialist and sweatshop supporter on the island
>>2931554
wait... maybe I am not understanding the terminology. dictators are all totalitiarian, aren't they? I didn't think they had to be socialist, though, nor had any particular ideology against sweatshops. I thought dictatorship was a description of how legal power is distributed, and had nothing to do with the economic structure.
so, what disappointed you?
Does it render the existence of the PS1 pointless. Pretty much uses the same controller as well as compatibility with PS1 memory cards.
There are a few PS1 games that don't work properly on a PS2, but most of them work fine. I don't know where you might find a definitive list of PS1 games that aren't totally compatible, though.
Also, for some reason, my third-party PS1 memory cards work just fine on my US PS2, but my JP PS2 won't recognize them at all. I thought that was kind of weird.
Some games aren't compatible, and some produce graphical glithes or freeze at certain points that may not be crucial (e.g. menu freezes)
So no, the PS2 doesn't make the PS1 obsolete. Best bet is to pick up a used PSOne somewhere, or just emulate. PS1s are dirt cheap these days.
>>2934015
To my knowledge yes. I have never had a single issue playing a PS1 game on a PS2.
In fact when my first PS2 crapped out, it was reduced to only being able to play CDs and PS1 games.
I need beat em up and shmup recommendations for the snes and mega drive, stat.
>Shmups
Thunder Force series (MD)
Gley Lancer (MD)
Super Fantasy Zone (MD)
MUSHA (MD)
Gradius III (SNES)

TMNT: Turtles in Time (multiplatform, MD version is called Hyperstone Heist and is lower quality but does some neat unique things)
Streets of Rage series (MD)
Comix Zone (MD)
Final Fight series (SNES)
Kunio Kun - Kunio Tachi no Banka (SNES)
Undercover Cops (SNES)
Sonic Blast Man series (SNES, very mediocre games but they hold a soft spot in my heart, the first game is at least really funny for a little bit)
SNES Super Street Fighter 2 !!
!!!!!!!
King of Dragons
Knights of the Round
Golden Axe
Which is better?

Mario 64.
And why does everyone always leave Tooie out of these discussions? Why is it always Mario 64 vs BK? BT is far superior to BK.
Neither are better than the other. It all comes down to personal opinion. :-)

Let's say theoretically, I wanted to buy a neo geo.
Tell me absolutely everything I would need to know about the console itself, the games, controllers, etc...
Because that's a shitload of money to spend on a toy.
>>2920497
Step 1: Avoid the AES completely
Step 2: Buy a Neo-Geo CD, or a consolized MVS
Step 3: Buy a MVS Multi-cart
You get access to almost the entire library of Neo-Geo for less than the price of an AES Metal Slug.
>>2920497
Don't buy one. Spend it on a hooker instead.
So, it is possible to overclock your megadrive cpu through means of a popular domestic mod. Why weren't they shipped already overclocked by default or at least given the option for a developer to do it through a special chip or whatever?
You can overclock a lot of chips. The reason thing are clocked at a lower speed is because overclocking has its price.

Can't think that many games would have really needed or taken advantage of it
>>2936271
So the reason was cost cutting?
I have a modded ps1 and a bunch of blank cds.
What are some games that benefit more from being played on a real hardware and CRT tv than emulated? I played most of the ps1 classics but still feel free to suggest all kinds of stuff. I have next few days off and could really go for some ps1 vidya.
Too bad that dank shell is all scratched up, I'd still buy it for 4.99
>>2935883
Depends on the hardware you're using
if you're going all out with a high quality CRT, stereo receiver with some nice headphones/speakers or just standard stuff
honest most 2d stuff looks pretty amazing either way
Lightgun games?
Mednafen is pretty advanced as far as fifth generation emulators go. It's not like you can't emulate to with a CRT either.
Don't mind me!

Other thread about carrying the actual device made me wonder-- did it have any good games for me to emulate?
I use linux, but I also have wine, so if there's a "best" w/r/t emulation, let me know.
Best games?
You helped me learn Game Gear is good, let's hope for a repeat.
The state of emulation is pretty poor. Thankfully the hardware and software is overlooked and cheap for the time being.
>>2933201
I'm curious too. I've looked lightly Ito the Lynx library on several occasions, and nothing ever really appeals to me. It was much easier for me to get into the Game Gear, which has a lot of good games.
>>2933201
My personal favorites, and probably what's stuffed into my Lynx carry pouch right now
APB
California Games
Crystal Mines II
Joust
Klax (short of the arcade, the only way to truly play it, quite frankly)
Ninja Gaiden
Paperboy
Rampage
Rampart
Road Blasters
Robotron
Steel Talons
STUN Runner
Slime World
Xenophobe
Xybots
Zarlor Mercenary

What are some good games where you fly forward and you shoot enemies in front of you?
Especially those ones, which where made for the 2D hardware.
>inb4 Space Harrier
...and where you're not a running man.
Space Harrier 2.
There is After Burner and G-Loc, I think one of the Gradius games had it as a bonus stage. I believe there is also Panorama Cotton but you are a flying girl there.
