Is the Sega Saturn a system worth buying? What are some its best games?
>>2900410
It's definitely worth a buy, but you're gonna want one that plays imports for sure. Some of the best stuff never came out in North America.

Nothing going further than PSX have..
If you have a Mega Drive/Genesis try things like Shining Force saga and think about it.
I you like so much the Mega Drive, its ok, but if not, PSX will have anything you want-
Its my opinion.

If you're into 90's-era Capcom fighters, it's got everything you need. Be sure to invest in an Action Replay or RAM cart, though. They're unplayable without one of the those.
Why made this game so unfun?
>I didn't like something. Time to inform the internet!
What went wrong?
Nothing? Some of the best fun I've had in arcade, Gameboy version is also pretty good. Haven't played the sequels though

Jackshit.
It was the inspiration for Zelda.

Tower of Druaga -> Zelda
Dragon Buster -> Zelda 2
Pac-Land -> Super Mario Bros
Baraduke -> Metroid
Nintendo is full of hacks.
Exactly what the fuck was Capcom thinking when they rescored the soundtrack to Resident Evil?
At least it produced something this unintentionally hilarious:

>I like how the first note tries to set up the atmosphere, but then the song degenerates into a man dying of flatulence with an out of tune trumpet glued to his ass
I think the composer was going for a violent, scary cacophony but picked the entirely wrong "instrument" for the intended effect.

They noticed how no one took RE1 seriously, and rightly so, so they went "it was always meant to be tongue in cheek guise, lol, cant you hear the new music, this is the way it was always meant to be."
Just bought Phantasy Star Online, what am I in for /vr/?
Dreamcast version isn't that good IMO.

elaborate anon
you're about 16 years late to the party, brah
should've just downloaded PSOBB instead
Is there anything more retarded than wasting your whore life getting good at a videogame only to watch the community die and move on in a couple years? Do you feel like a big fat failure?
No, because I play games to have fun, not to participate in a community. The community is of secondary importance.
I play games for fun shitbag
beating competition players in the arcade is just an unanticipated dessert
There's a community?
Hey /vr/
Recently bought a SW-23000 in order to run emulators from my PC to my CRT. Will be getting in soon and wanted to know if any of you had done the same and what your experience was like.
Cheap shit into cheap shit isn't going to get you good shit.

Please elaborate.

Not really all that different from the old AVerMedia AVerKey's. It works, but the picture is a bit on the fuzzy side(don't expect to be able to read small text), and there is the occasional scanline distortion, and the occasional frame of lag. You will be able to play, but it's not that much of an improvement from using your LCD monitor, and in some ways will be worse. You'll get more enjoyment using it to send video signal from movies and tv shows to your CRT. Call me crazy, but old B/W movies just look better on CRTs.
Wario's games are better than Mario's games
Wario is better than Mario.
They're different, Wario games are slower paced and focus more on exploration.
For GB platformers, the Wario Land games were so packed with personality.
Chillest stages?

>download SSF saturn emulator
>only lets you run games from a disc
whats the point?
Well.
An emulator's job is to emulate.
>>2930839
To cause inconvenience for dirty pirates like you, obviously.
Just get any disc mounting software.
Obligatory sage.
>emulating Saturn
you fell for it
I've been looking at lists of the best games of all time, and I've noticed some Phantasy Star games make it onto the lists. My only exposure to the series is Phantasy Star Online and PSO2, so I'm wondering what of the non-MMO games are worth playing?
1, 2 and 4.
3 is literally unfinished. 90% of the rooms you walk into are empty and there's like 6 NPCs per town. Some people apologize for it, but naw dawg

PS4 is basically Sega's FFVI and is one of the best period JRPGs. Great visuals, OST, characters, story. Definitely a must play.
PS1 is good and actually holds up better than FFI in my opinion. It's basically Wizardry and Might and Magic meet Dragon Quest, a solid classic graph-paper dungeon crawler. If that sounds up your alley, give it a play, but you might find it a little dated.
PS2 is a transitional game between I and IV and is supposed to be great with a good story, but I haven't played much of it.
PS3 is the black sheep of the series with some good ideas but incredibly broken execution, delivered by an entirely different team in a rushed development period and as a result plays, looks and sounds like a fever dream. Only play it as an oddity.
3 is bad, not even by the same team
What's the worst game you ever bought as a kid?
Pic related, I begged my parents for this game for weeks before they finally caved in and bought it for me, just thinking about it still makes me feel guilty. I only played it for maybe 10 minutes before giving up and never touching it again. Fuck.
OP again
I vaguely remember my Dad saying no and knowing that it was probably garbage because he knew better about TV/Movie licensed games, but they still bought it for me anyway. It makes you realize how much your parents really love you, willing to waste money on a game just to make you happy even while knowing you'll probably never play it again. So many bad games are bought with parents money.
>>2927719
I was mostly pretty happy with my game purchases as a kid. It wasn't until I got older and I bought games likeOther Mthat I encountered a "10 minutes and never again" kind of game.
The Game Boys always had a lot of shovelware. I think I had a Looney Tunes game on the GBC that kinda sucked.
>>2927727
Dude, I know. Over the past few years, when I've had less time to play games, I've started slowly accumulating a pile of Christmas and birthday games that I've never even opened. And yet my parents keep buying stuff for me. Bless them. I need to put a moratorium on buying new games until I clean out my backlog...
>>2927731
It wasn't the Bugs and Lola one, was it?Don't ruin my nostalgia blindness, anon. That game was fun when I was a kid.
Seriously, let's put a lot of thought into this.
Let's say you got fucked by St. Peter and have to spend an eternity in purgatory.
God had some sympathy for you and you're allowed to play one console/game for your stay.
NO, you cannot pick a multi-cart and you'll go straight to hell ifyou pick a demo.
SNES and Super Mario World.
I would have enough time to practice and do crazy shit like this

My copy is in the mail and should be arriving sometime today or tomorrow. I think I'll let some other kind /vr/ poster perform the generous act of charity you suggested.

Whenever people get bored of it. There's no reason to not just pirate every thing though, unless you also collect.
Hey guys, just hooked up my SNES to my HDTV for the first time, just had some questions.
I have this problem, where the video signal can get really 'shaky' or 'wobbly' its really bad and annoying to play on.
What are my options to improve the video signal on my TV? I know there are some devices like the one I have pictured here, are they any good, what ones are worth the money, and what are the costs of them?
Are there any other options? I've heard of modded SNES systems, too... how do those work? How much better does RGB cables look, and can you get RGB cables that work with the SNES without modding it? Will it fix the shaking issue of my console on my TV?
Thanks for any help.

Check out these resources:
http://boards.4chan.org/vr/catalog/crt
(They're experts on getting good picture quality, even on non-crt televisions. Don't be afraid to ask questions, but don't storm into a crt thread to convince everyone that your LCD tv is better, basically: don't be a retard)
https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLTNBVisVMbSR1ZDDQRgjg6S9D2YQ4rwnZ
(Great video series. There is a video in particular called "Getting the best picture from your Super Nintendo" all about the topic you bring up)
In the future, please don't make threads like this - another discussion was removed from this board just to make room for your thread.

My bad, meant to post:

first, you need to connect your console with an RGB cable. Make sure you get one adapted for your console (I'm guessing you have an american SNES).
Then, make sure you set the output as 1080p so your tv doesn't do any scaling. Also set your tv to "game mode" if applicable.
Do note that these devices add lag (between 2 and 4 frames, 1 frame is 1/60s ), on top of the display. I can play fine on my pc monitor (because it doesn't process image before displaying), but I tried on a HDTV and despite using game mode, the lag was much more noticiable.
