How about a Final Fantasy VIII thread? It'd be sweet to have a good thread on it and if people that weren't a fan could just hide the thread or something because I know it's not everyone's cup of tea. But
>what did you enjoy most in the game?
>favorite character?
>favorite GF?
>did you beat Ultimate weapon?
>what was your method for beating Ultemecia? Aura spam or straight up?
>favorite track from the OST?
I'll start, I enjoyed the garden settings and the various missions like the Edea assassination the most. Favorite characters would be Squall or Chicken Wuss. As for GF's, Diablos is by far my favorite. I most definitely beat all the optional bosses, and as typical as this is, Liberi Fatali is my favorite track from not only this game but all games.
>>3177315
Oops, forgot to mention that I did not aura spam/hero drink the last fight. Probably should have though, would've been much less of a trudging battle.
>>3177315
>>what did you enjoy most in the game?
Triple Triad
>>favorite character?
Kiros and Ward, because they're the only ones who didn't constantly annoy the fuck out of me
>>favorite GF?
I haven't unlocked all of them yet
>>did you beat Ultimate weapon?
No
>>what was your method for beating Ultemecia? Aura spam or straight up?
Haven't reached her yet but thanks for the tip

Triple triad is definitely my favorite mini game in any RPG.
Characters are definitely hit or miss with people, I like them but I see where you're coming from.
There's a lot of GF's so it'll be hard to choose.
You should try and beat ultimate weapon *hint hint, nudge nudge*
And man with the machine gun is ungodly to work out to or jam in the car to my man.
What is the worst?
Double Dragon V for Sega has to be the worst. Shit gameplay, zero storyline and really moronic characters without distinctive skillsets.
IMO, fighting games without a "moves list" can all fuck off.
The Justice League game for SNES/Genesis.
Both are hot garbage on every level
>>3201112
Never played it, but I know it has to be shite.
Also, Cosmic Carnage for 32x and fucking CLAY FIGHTER.
Rise of the Robots is the worst game I've played, let alone worst fighting game.
I was just thinking about Doom today. What do you guys think of doom?
I remember once when I was in science class the teacher was talking about the moons Phobos and Deimos and I was like, "Those are the moons from doom!"
And then everyone clapped and laughed.
:D
pretty epic shooter imo
these new games like call of duty and halo are straight up wack for noobs imo im a bit more of a hardcore gamer so i perfer older ones like doom, quake and many other difficult fps
That definitely happened.
>>3200745
>What do you guys think of doom?
Are you new? This board has been collectively praising Doom since forever, and rightfully so.
>people unironically like this piece of shit
You bet, many millions of these games were sold across 30 years.

>A game series so shitty, even my ol' gramma likes it!
>>3199910
Objectively better than Final Faggotry.
ITT: games you can never finished
I can never get past the guards
>>3199238
Are you kidding? I haven't completed like half of my games.
>>3199243
>are you kidding?
What's the first video game you'd let your first son play?
I'm thinking Super Mario Bros on NES.
My son's first game was Mischief Makers because that's the game I was playing at the time. He grabbed the controlled and fucked around with the controls, having carefree fun. I think he was 2 or 3 at the time.
I don't think I would have ever thought about what game would be his first, it just happened naturally.
I'd just let him have free reign of my collection. Let him explore on his own.
>>3199180
That sounds like a good idea and really nice thing to do until you come home and see some of your cartridges are broken from being stepped on, discs are scratched and no longer readable, or some stuff is straight up missing after he invites his new friend over to play games after school.
What's the best way to emulate pic related?
N64 emulation is very buggy and unreliable, I wouldn't recommend it.

I think a lot of people don't really understand what memes are. The Retron 5 for the wife is one, but it's much bigger and more obvious than most. The best memes are the little ones, odd opinions or bits of carefully crafted falsehood on certain things that spread and grow the more you mention them. Then before long you see other people saying them and it becomes part of the board culture.
Castlevania says hi.
>>3198847
>retro video games
In Castlevania's case, it's funny how australia-kun tried to force his "SCB" meme, but instead of making people hate the game, he made himself a meme.
>>3198847
>I think a lot of people don't really understand what memes are. The Retron 5 for the wife is one
And you're one of those people who don't understand what a meme is, too, OP. I'll clue you into something - nothing on the Internet is old enough or memorable enough to seriously be considered a meme yet.
When i was a kid i had some strange third person sci-fi shooter. The main character had somekind of sunglasses and weared them backwards. When you completed the game , you unlocked new characters. I cant find the name on the internet, does anyone have a clue how it is called? And why does nobody knows this if you google for it, it was a pretty fun game.

It's gotta be one of those 3 m8
>>3198761
it could be syphon filter too
how shitty is this?
AES is affordable... the games are not. Cabinet would be cool, but no space. this is attractive to me, but are all the negative reviews true? is there any hacks or shit to fix it or do anything cool with it?
it's an emulation machine. You could emulate neo geo better on a 15 year old pc
consolise an mvs and get a 161 in 1
>>3198476
It's literally emulation. It's literally running games off Final Burn Alpha. It's a waste of money.
Get the MVS cabinet and the all-in-one pirate cartridge with every game on it, if you absolutely MUST own an actual Neo Geo.
That shit was so bad, SNK ended the contract with the company making those in less than a year. Dont bother buying it unless you want the controller.
Just started this. What am I in for? How long does it take to beat?
>>3198402
A decent JRPG that didn't get its full potential because the FF team are money-stealing bastards and about 40-50 hours.
If there is any game that deserves a remake, it's this one.
>>3198402
>What am I in for?
Cutscenes
>How long does it take to beat?
I'd say around 20 hours or so if you wanna get everything out of the game, 7 of actual gameplay and 13 of wading through dialogues.
Also, before you even get to the point, Citan was right, Citan is always right.
>>3198419
Have you actually played the game? Xenogears is no where near 20 hours, especially on a first play through idiot
What is your favorite Virtual Boy Game?
>>3198286
Wario Land
This one
All pretty reasonable choices so far, but my favorite is Teleroboxer.
It's crazy how in such small library of games you can still find some good diversity and people can pick different favorites, although I'd assume Wario Land is the most popular and for good reason. That'd be my 2nd choice.

So there are new ways to remove the Vaseline smear that is the N64 AA + Blur filter combo.
The Anti Aliasing can be partly done with just a Gameshark, but its easier to do with an Everdrive flashcart with aps rom patches found here for the No-Intro rom set, which the Everdrive can automatically apply:
http://n64.poregon.com/shared/
More info and tools:
http://www.retrorgb.com/n64blur
Right now, the only way to remove the Blur filter is with this hardware mod:
http://www.retrorgb.com/ultrahdmi.html
It has a shitload of glitches.
Still don't understand why anyone would bother.
>>3198236
Seems to be with dithering, but that only really seems to be a big problem if you use the HDMI mod.
>>3198238
The HDMI mod has its own problems. Sure our resident shill will hop in soon. If he isn't here already.
I'm not sure this thread belongs here, but does anyone know what game magazine this ad came from? I'd like to say Nintendo Power, but I can't be sure.
>>3197961
Could be EGM
>>3197961
i remember an ad almost exactly like it in the Nintendo magazine in australia but the esrb sticker is US
>>3197961
I remeber seeing this. Gameplayers or EGM. Could of been PSM actually.
Hey bros.
What are the best retro puzzle games?
I had a lot of fun with 'Kwirk' for the Game Boy. I managed to beat every level, it's definitely taxing on the brain.
Banjo-Kazooie.
>>3197950
I like puyo puyo but I know that's not what you meant by puzzle game so I'd go with the adventures of lolo 1-3 and sokoban...
