I have driven past that sega sign on 101 in SF since I was a kid. Zynga and Sega where located right next to each other. Sega's logo is still up on one building. I guess Zynga bought their old building? Zynga is not doing well right now either. I always wanted to go inside. Now they moved to LA which is probably better since SF is a safe space hipster war zone now.

Most of those are finished games / review copies (sometimes the two being the same), not necessarily source code. Or early builds of games, which are still interesting, though not as much as source code.

And the majority of those CDRs are probably not readable anymore.

also a lot of them are game show builds (TGS, E3, etc).

It is real, but for some reason /vr/ thinks it's as prevalent as the common cold. The reality is it's more like Lou Gehrig's disease

>not readable
Nice meme. I've got CD-Rs from around this period that are still readable and they've been kept in worse condition than a climate controlled office.
