Looking for a retro game where the hero kills thugs with a gun, like the Death Wish movies.
>>3277523
You mean like Dirty Harry, Golgo 13, Lone Ranger, or Metal Gear?
>>3277536
More like a game where you're cleaning up the streets of criminals, not generic bad guys. Like I said, something like the Death Wish movies.
>>3277549
Narc
You can make accusations like that without evidence, I assume that you have some?
>>3277485
I'm from /pol/ motherfucker, I don't need no fucking evidence, I have my feelings!

What game is this
>wow anon is that a sega genesis
>yezzir i got all kindsa games for it
>oh shit anon, Can we play Sonic 2?
Every time
>>3277447
Well, it is the best game on the system.
>>3277447
ya and when i went to my friend's house who had a snes i always asked to play dkc. sonic at my house. best of both worlds.
>not wanting to play Sonic 2 competitive mode
Sonic 3's vs mode was better, but Sonic 2 was still alright and had good music.
How long should I grind before heading to the Northwest Castle?
First time I've ever played, second run after I fucked myself in my first. At Elfland and fuck me those Arachnids and Asps are total BS.
>black mage in first position
you can start by hitting select and putting your mages in the last two slots so they don't get killed immediately
>>3277307
Holy shit I had no idea that mattered or was even possible, thanks
>>3277309
no problem, it's easy to make stupid, catastrophic mistakes in this game for a long time
first time i played i got to level 6 without even equipping any weapons or armor, i thought it was automatic and the game was just really hard
Lets show Mario 2 some respect! (respek)
DID YOU KNOW
>Stick "Mario" on a game
>people eat it up no matter what
We are all guilty of this. So share the game that sticks out most to you that, looking back, hooked you because of the visuals.
Pic related is mine. I have fond memories of pouring over the articles in this magazine before the Dreamcast launch, so hyped up for Sonic Adventure. Playing the game I remember telling myself it's great because it looked so amazing, ouch. Still love the DC today and consider it's visuals ahead of it's time.
Graphics are really important. Not because of how much detail you can put into something bland like what triple a developers nowadays but how you can make something pop out and attract people!
Sega understood arcade-style graphics better than anyone else. Games like crazy taxi, virtual-on, and panzer dragoon still look fantastic to this day despite hardware not being as impressive as today.
anyway. I'm definitely with you on this one, op. I can still go back to sonic adventure 2 and have a good time but sonic adventure 1's sonic segments are REALLY bad. Game looks nice though.
Another game I enjoyed mainly because of the graphics was LEEEAAAAAAGUE BOWLING. It's just bowling but with zany animations. It really hooks ya'.

So with Odin Sphere Remastered coming out on PS4 today, let's discuss Kaminati's retro games. What do you think of his D&D belt scrollers and Princess Crown, /vr/?
>>3276938
>What do you think of his D&D belt scrollers
I think you should stop trying to force an unfunny meme.
>>3276960
>i-i-it's just a meme!!
Keep telling yourself that.
Princess Crown is fun, but very repetitive. Also, being forced to play as characters other then Gradriel also ruins it a bit.
Add a skill system, more enemy and level variety, more music variety and let us play as Gradriel for an entire game and it would have been sweet.
Is the first Dragon Warrior worth playing? I'm playing FF6 for the first time and I'm really enjoying it, so I thought I'd check it out.
>>3276873
Honestly? No. It's really grindy and extremely bare-bones. The later Dragonquest games are pretty good though.
Short but my fave Dragon Warrior game.
Considering how little time it will take you to get through it, it's not a huge investment even if it's not a spectacularly deep game.

Why can't we have outlandish rumors about video games like when we swore the Triforce had to be in OoT for a year, and when someone posted pictures the whole internet freaked out?
>>3276743
Because nowadays we can easily rip resources from a game, crack source code, record videos, and loosely organize hunts.
I think it's because people can easily check on the game's code and debunk fakes like that nowadays.
But yeah I remember the Triforce thing on OOT, it was on the official Nintendo site for april's fools in 1999.
I suckered so hard for those shitty fake walkthroughs, secret ssb characters, oot triforce, secret goldeneye guns etc.
I was fucked being a kid raised in the boonies that just got an Internet connection.
What's even more ridiculous is that fucking stupid complicated shadows of the empire code that turned out to be real..
Quintet games are fucking awesome. What's your favorite?
Quintet was full of idea guys but lacking competent game designers. Can't help but love them. Robotrek really does it for me.
>>3276382
Actraiser or Robotrek
>>3276382
Actraiser hands down. Granstream Saga on Ps1 is good as well, from what I've played so far.
Do you know about this, /vg/?

A remake of Wonder Boy 3: The Dragon's Trap
I loved that game
SMS thread, anyone?
I had an SMS II when I was a little kid. The only game I could reliably beat was Taz-Mania.
>>3276198
>Wonder Boy 3: The Dragon's Trap
I love this game and am cautiously hyped for the remake (as well as for Monster Boy).
>>3276198
When there's two threads up in the catologue right next to each other, we can tell you're a shill.
Fuck off
This is the best NES game I've ever played
>This Game Pak cannot be used with the NES version of the Nintendo Entertainment System
wat
>>3276075
It was never released in the US, where NES and Mattel branded systems were common
>>3276072
Shitty kiddy platformer with garbage controls and banal level designs and forgettable music.
The latest build of the supermodel emulator can now handle magical truck adventure!!!

We might not be able to recreate the arcade experience without some /diy/ work but now we can check out the game in it's entirety without any graphical mishaps or slow-downs!

LET'S DISCUSS THE SHIT OUT OF THIS GAME
well, most graphical mishaps anyway. There's some glitches here and there but for the most part it's perfect.
Oh fuck I thought this project was dead in the water
>>3276057
You are gonna post the rest, right?
I've been making these NES reviews for nearly 4 months now, and I'd love to get some real feedback. I know that they are fairly unoriginallike their aren't enough retro youtube video in the world, but I find it a good way to have fun with adobe premiere, improve my V/O, as well as script-writing.
Any and every little piece of feedback and/or suggestions would be extremely appreciated.
Anyone else here make YouTube Videos either? I'd love to check them out too!

Stole that schtick from projared
>videos aren't even 1 minute, they're all 1:30 - 2 minutes
>10 second intro
Too long, you could cut it down to 5, just get the point across.
Your outro is like half the fucking length of the video,
You have no passion in your voice. It's just monotone rambling. It's not interesting to hear some wikipedia comments sprouted off. You need to sound like you give 2 shits about what's going on.
>>3275335
This
I could make better videos if I had a mic
>>3275329

Why did belt scrollers just suddenly die out after 1994, /vr/?
>belt scrollers
But that's a side scroller beat'em'up.
>>3275085
>belt scroller
It's beat'em up, fag.
>>3275105
>side scroller beat'em'up.
No, that's a dash and punch.
