Any good old school Zelda clones worth playing? Im looking for something kinda like the GBC ones but any system will do. Straight up clones are welcome but im most interested in ones with unique gimmicks or maybe a different "feel" to them

How do you guys deal with the fact that you're getting old?
I don't get many opportunities to talk about games.
Communities like these are the only chance I get to discuss something I love with like minded individuals... However, gaming is a time consuming hobby and it's easy for games to be forgotten as people invest their time with new titles and forget the old.
Do you think there's a time limit to enjoying retro games?

>How do you guys deal with the fact that you're getting old?
Welcome it. I'm way over caring about being young anymore. Got to experience some cool shit and I don't regret it. I just want to play and discover retro-vidya (and new shit that doesn't suck (good luck)) until I get tired of living and kick the bucket.
So no big deal really?
>>3273927
Seconded.
I wouldn't say there is a time limit, you just have to try other things and come back to it at some point, else it gets boring, like everything else in excess.
that said its next to impossible to get someone into retro games these days unless they played them aswell. so you may have to go alone, but at least you get a sword.
I'm getting my soon-to-be-13 stepbro a Dreamcast for his birthday, he likes platformers, racing games, splatoon, general Nintendo stuff. Any recommendations?

Tony Hawk Pro Skater
Jet Set Radio is a must as well
This is also a good way to teach you little brother the ways of piracy and burn him a bunch of games on CDR

This is supposed to be an RPG classic?
It's really really bad!
So much for old RPGs I guess.
Bad bait. I just finished the PS version. It was awesome. I'm enjoying FFV much more, though.
>>3261434
It was revolutionary as fuck when it came out, but it's ultimately an average and heavily broken game. Play the PSX version, it's much more polished. If you prefer MP to vancian magic, play the GBA or PSP remakes, but do note that the presence of MP greatly diminishes the game's difficulty.
>>3261434
It's a great game.
Just inferior to (most of) its successors.
Why were Europeans so bad at designing shmups? (except for SWIV)

What's wrong with having a shield? I never played this game, though.
Is there a way to play falanyone know a way to play fallout 1 or 2 on my android ?
Just Google it. Took me seconds to see solutions. However, the process seems to be way too much of a pain in the ass in order to get them running on your Android.
Yeah it is a massive hassle. I was just wondering if there was an easier way
>>3283678
The only real way I would try to go about this would be through remote play. I see there are a couple free apps that attempt to remote play Steam through your Android. Not sure how stable that is though? I've never had much luck in regards to stability with remote playing my consoles to Android or PC. If I'm in the house, it's decent. Anywhere else, the remote play connection always seems to get choppy and disconnects quite frequently.
What do you prefer?

Sony changed the music for Europe and America considering the original music unfit for western players.
>>3283416
I know this is true for the racing soundtrack, but these new menu themes are pretty shit. I love how somewhere in the back I can hear (bad) guitar riffs.
So will this ever be translated? last news are the "official" fan-translation thread in romhacking dot net, which died in 2013, and a 2014 neofag thread where it was announced that the translation was almost """"""""""done"""""""" (2014!).
Also, official "Games you want translated NOW" thread
fucking this! not even a beta or something

You could have learned Japanese since then.
It's not too late to start now.
Hey /vr/, what are the best CRTs for gaming? I'm not entirely experienced with owning a CRT and would like to know. I was going garage sale hunting today and one person who I knew well was offering to give me a 1987 Samsung Celebrity television for $5, which I thought might look good for Atari and NES(Looked really nice too), but I'd like to know what you guys think.
The photo is of someone's CRT taken from AtariAge. Looked just liked this, but no composite input. Only RF and Screws.
just get a pvm and don't mess around breakin your back dragging around them old grandmaw tv's cause they suck
>>3283142
we literally have an entire thread dedicated to /crt/
use the fucking catalog you shit
>>3283152
Look at this hipster thinking his 15+ year old PVM is any better.
In a family members garage I found this arcade machine. It has games like Street Fighter 2, Centipede, and more. How much money would this cost if in working order? Pic related
>>3283113
Its broken? Get it fixed mate
>>3283129
I don't know if it's working yet, planning on doing that soon. Any price estimates?

Resellers get out reeee
How do you catalogue your collection? What's the best website or is a good old spreadsheet still the best way to go?
A Letterboxd for games would be nice.
The Collectorz website has a program you buy as well as smartphone apps. Games, movies, books, comics... all that
I have some minor issues with their morals and goals of how they handled certain features and updating. But to be real their program is top tier.
I paid one time for their pc program and have their Android and iOS apps. Even though I only have owned iPads for reviewing iOS apps, I still bought their app and it works great on both.
My only issues are that -
1. once in a while I find a game that is not on their list in name or upc (like 1 out of every 500 games maybe).
2. If I added my own artwork then changed/update pcs the artwork MIGHT not go with the pc swap. I find saving the entirety of the clz folders helps this, but it isn't as easy as just copying the file that contains your list of games, which it should be that easy but isn't.
3. The software has features hidden behind subscription walls, these features are totally useless to me but some might want them. I don't know who would want them but they are useless to even a heavy collector like myself.
To explain the subscription bullcrap. You pay for X amount of updates in monthly batches. So after X amount of months no more updates but your app continues to work at whatever version you are stuck at. Also some features like storing your collection on their servers is a part of that subscription. Lastly their smartphone app used to be one price to fully own it. Later they changed it to require people to pay to add more games in batches (the morals part I mentioned). They essentially, 4 years ago, made something I used and owned not work as well to make more money. To an old legacy user there was no change. But to new people it meant buying the app then buying another in app purchase.
Even with that scummy tactic. Their software is my most recommended app for collectors with over a few hundred games. Works for my 5000+ collection.
I don't. I often find old games I didn't even remember I had and it's like, w00t!
I was playing one of these carts when I accidentally hit the side of my nes, freezing the game. Now the cart won't boot up at all. Is there a way to get it working again or is it fucked?
Have you even tried opening it up yet to find the problem?
>>3282726
Yeah, it's just a board with some chips on it. Nothing that I have the capacity to fix.
>>3282759
Is it a Famicom cart connected to an NES converter? If so, you should reseat it. Otherwise, these glop-top multi-carts can burn out with time, but it's likely unrelated to smacking your NES.

What if alternate universe Nintendo bought Midway to battle the Sega and Namco's arcade ports in the 5th gen?
Exclusive MK, Ready to Rumble, Hydro Thunder, etc. Does it fill the void outside of RPGs?
>>3282478
Exclusive MK3/UMK3/MKT would be a big deal, and would give it a flagship traditional fighter....but that's about it.
>>3282485
You kidding? Midway had the rights to the legacy Williams properties too. Can you imagine all the wacky stuff that Nintendo could do with those?
>>3282686
Like what?
Are there some 3D action/adventure games that have that colorful, grand adventure feel like my Shonen animes.
For the PS1 in particular?
The only reference for what I'm looking for are the DQMJ games on the DS, not retro yes, but as I've noted it's a reference for what I'm looking for.
In fact I'd say much of the art for Dragon Quest has the aesthetic and feel of what I'm referring to, but as I've also noted, I'm partial to a more 3D action/adventure game and not a turn-based RPG, however RPG elements are okay.
>>3282063
Try the mega man legends games.
>>3282158
Have MM64 and really like that, even though its probably the most inferior version of the game.
>>3282163
If you have a ps3, they're all three on sale for a pretty good price.
Or was that last week?
