This isn't retro or an answer to your question, but I just needed to point out that in No More Heroes there is literally a Charles Bronson inspired character.

Also for something a little more /vr/ related, in Mother 3 there's a minor character called Bronson who bears a striking resemblence to Charles Bronson. Considering he's literally called Bronson I doubt this is a coincidence.
