What do you think of speedrunners? Honestly.
That speedrunning event has some pretty neat playthroughs that are very interesting and cool to watch.
But then there's stuff like RPGs that take over two hours to finish and that's where my interest fades.
Did the other speedrunning thread die?
pure unadulterated autism
I'd powder their balls.
do you guys remember an old arcade fighter that had this characters?
first of all, If i seem to recall correctly, ken masters was on the game, or at least a blonde guy with a red gi and a similar moveset.
also, there was this purple suit guy, blondie and had sunglasses, Ia remember that his taunt was fixing his tie.
there was also a peculiar character, a fat and short chinese looking girl with a weird hat and a backpack, her outfit kinda makes me think she was a pilot or something.
do you guys recognize the archetype of these characters?, I tried by looking in what games ken masters have showed but I can't find the other two ones.
thanks a lot.

Was it Art of Fighting 1 or 2?

Also the one with the Asian kid with a backpack is Art of Fighting 3>>3275985

More pics I prefer Art of Fighting 2.
Alright /vr/ so I recently acquired a Colecovision, Atari 5200, and Atari 7800 from a family member. The consoles seem to be in decent shape, but I have one problem: the power adapters (and the Atari's weird box) are all missing.
I came to ask if there's any way I'd be able to get replacements for them without having to haggle some reseller fuckhead on Ebay. Third-party and aftermarket replacements are fine.

I would bother to post the others, but if you can't be bothered to google it yourself then I can't be assed.
>>3275768
Is that the best you can do? You're aware the 5200 requires this weird thing to be able to plug in right? Also the Colecovision and 7800 have some proprietary plugs I'm unfamiliar with.
All I've been able to find are the original power adapters for prices so ridiculous I might as well just get the console.
So I just bought this game at the flea market yesterday.
What do you think about it?
Also do you know the difference between Pacman and Ms.Pacman?

I'm finding I have to use a walkthrough more than I'd like to get through this game.
Shenmue is fucking incredible, but I've gotten lost and was totally unsure what I was doing or where I was going a dozen times already and multiple days have gone by and I'm just at the beginning, really.
Are there some tips so I don't miss shit and keep wasting time?
Getting lost and slowly familiarizing with the enviroment is unironically part of the experience. If you don't enjoy it then don't play it, you have plenty of days to "waste".
>>3275219
Check your journal often and look at the maps at the end of every street, also question almost every NPC. Game is really straightforward if you do all that.

Is Chin the strongest video game character of ALL TIME? He killed 1.2 billion FUCKIN' UGLY REDS all by himself.
Sephiroth could kill him
>>3275120
More like 10 fuckin' ugly reds because most people turn off the game before that unless they're masochists who like bad games.
>Hong Kong 97 will never be remastered

Overrated or underrated.
>or just forgetable?
Kiinda good but kinda forgettable too, a nice platformer for a couple runs.
Underrated outside of internet forums, correctly rated otherwise. It's a good platformer and a must for Mega Drive.
>>3274915
Less overrated than Treasure's other games, most notably Gunstar Heroes, Ikaruga, Mischief Makers and Guardian Heroes.
What exactly are the dots Pac Man is eating supposed to be?

Is System Shock a first person shooter or a first person adventure?
System Shock is an ARPG
>>3274645
What exactly makes it an RPG?
It's both. Like Metroid Prime.
So i found myself a nice pal and we plan to play a lot of retrogames together. So far,we've played:
-Metal slug 3
-Sunset riders
-Ganbare Goemon 2
Can you guys recommend me some good /vr/ approved games that are playable in multi? Any platform is fine, really. A jrpg would be awesome.
I'd love to add a specific page for multiplayer games on the wiki,if i had enough knowledge about them, too.

So I bought a fami to nes converter at a flea market and I tested it out with the only famicom game I own, being Dragon Quest. The game itself runs perfectly but the audio is severely fucked, sounds like Sugiyama got hammered. I'm guessing this is a hardware thing that has to do with the pins? I'm not a techy guy. Is there anything I can do to fix the audio or should I just get a famicom?
>>3274359
>The game itself runs perfectly but the audio is severely fucked, sounds like Sugiyama got hammered. I'm guessing this is a hardware thing that has to do with the pins?
Pretty much. The Famicom has an extra sound expansion pin that the NES lacked, so if you play certain FC games on the NES that make use of the sound expansion, some of the music will come off a bit muted. It happened to me playing the FC version of Rolling Thunder on an NES with a converter.
>>3274378
Huh, I thought that was only for Disk System games like Metroid or Castlevania 3.

DQ's ost is pretty much the same in Warrior so I figured it would be the same.

Not just FDS games but not DQ are you paying on a clone console?

So I downloaded Seal Team for DOS and it's really a unique infantry sim. Any other simulation games like it? Can be Vietnam or any other theater of war, no preference.

Thanks!
>>3274079
Operation Flashpoint Cold War Crisis, while not retro, is a solid infantry sim. Some other tactical games off the top of my head are Hidden and Dangerous, Swat 2/3, Rainbow Six and it's sequels, Jagged Alliance...could probably throw X-Com in there too.
>>3274657
>while not retro
So don't bring it up shithead.
>>3275491
It's from 2001, not like I'm recommending ARMA 3 or The Division. Chill out dude.

Currently downloading Dragon Warrior 7 to emulate on my laptop - This will be the second game of the series since I played Dragon Quest VIII years ago, which I fucking loved to pieces for its undeniable charm, fantastic story (mad but fantastic story) and brutal difficulty. I would like to replay it but I need to buy a new copy.
Am I to expect a similar feel with Dragon Warrior VII? Or can anyone recommend some of the older titles?
Dragon Quest Warrior General I guess(?)
>>3273954
VII is VERY VERY VERY long, it will probably take 120 hours to complete. I recommend waiting for 3ds version, from my understanding it cuts a lot of the bullshit of the ps1 version, in the ps1 version you don't fight your first slime until like 4-5 hours in where in the 3ds version I heard it's now only like a hour. I recommend going to III or V now, those and VIII are considered the best of the series. My personal favorite is IV and I highly recommend that one aswell. The game's connections are loose enough that really you should just look into each game and play what sounds the most in your taste.
I'd suggest picking one from 3-6 to instead, 7 is probably not a great starting point.
>>3273974
Fuck meant to say 4-5 hours before you encounter your first slime. I guess I need to proof read my comments.
