>Indomitable, Rank 1: Ignore the penalties imposed by Blood Loss. Does not negate health loss.
>Atelier of Death: Craft your own Bombs and Poisons
>Nimble Fingers: +30 to non-attack actions involving your hands (lockpicking, pickpocketing, etc.).
While Ellana may have saved your life, the potion she had forced down your throat did nothing to heal your other injuries. Namely the ones inflicted by the Ingulan twins, as well as the bolt hole in your left hand. Goddess’ Tears allegedly only pull the drinker from the thin edge between life and death, and was rumored to even bring back men and women minutes dead.
But that is all it does. It leaves the healing process up to the one who imbibed the potion, and the skill of the caretakers surrounding him.
The cold days pass by slowly as you spend your time recovering in Karthmere Keep. From outside the window, the harsh winter gradually abates in its intensity. Even though it continues to fall, the amount of snow left from the nights prior continually decreases. As the month goes by, the grip of winter will eventually cede its hold on the realm to the warmer seasons.
A week has passed since your conversation with Ser Palme. Since then, the wound in your hand has completely healed, and the only remnants of your foray against the Red Snakes are the scars to run along your body. Those would quickly fade with time, but the memories that came with them would not be so easily forgotten.
“…cus. Marcus? Marcus, are you listening to what I’m asking you?”
(cont.)
Ellana, stretching in her seat, affixes you with a pointed look. Her lips are pursed in a frown that tries so hard to look stern, but more than anything else comes off as petulant glare. The old man adjacent to her only adds a wry look in your general direction before turning a page of his book, a veritable monster of a tome.
Grimacing, you pull yourself out of reminiscence and go over how it all came to this.
You know your letters and numbers well enough and a little more to be able to read ciphers and measure reagents and extracts to the ounce. But beyond the kill orders and formulae, your knowledge of the wider world is little better than a fishmonger’s, if not worse depending on the market place. From hearsay, it’s said that the fishermen of the Grey Islands are as learned as a magister.
That was the point, though. Most of it, if not all of, your knowledge is more grounded in hearsay and the talk of smallfolk more than anything else. Lucien never bothered to add history lessons to your ‘apprenticeship’, and most of what Serena read aloud to the rest of the Locusts went through one ear and out the other. Maybe he would have begun deeper instruction, and maybe you’d muster up the patience to listen to her go on and on about distant places far away from the Empire.
But those are ‘maybes’ that you’ll never know.
Save for the more unpleasant bits of your childhood, your dearth of formal instruction came up when Ellana firmly insisted that you tell her more about yourself. As soon as that information came out of your mouth, a funny look came across her face. Then, she marched out of the room without a second glance backwards. For a blessed five minutes, there was a tranquil silence that you observed with the absence of her eager questions and talking.
(cont.)

>As soon as that information came out of your mouth
I thought we were in agreement NOT to tell her about our past!
Then it all came crashing down when the princess returned, veritably dragging a bewildered older man in the grey-spun robes of a magister. You were able to put two and two together to get for, and no sooner did you do so when the she drove the metaphorical nail into the coffin. It was her desire that you would receive a formal instruction alongside her as your wounds would heal.
“Perhaps it is time to call for a break,” Magister Ansell said, with a smile that was not unkind.
He was old, the oldest man that you’ve ever seen. Ser Palme once wryly mentioned that all of the wrinkles were there when he entered into the Crowngard ten years ago, teaching long since when the royal family were still little and unborn. “I’m afraid that your new friend still may not be well enough to continue.”
You cough once to clear both the tense air and your throat as you sit up in your bed. Raising your hands in a recalcitrant gesture, you say, “…I’m afraid I had lost myself in thought…milady.” It still feels strange to have that word come off your tongue. But you can’t do anything about it, save to get used to addressing the nobility. “And for that, I apologize. But I do have a recollection of what we were talking about…”

Previously you and some of your crew enjoyed a pleasant dinner together, discussing various topics including Tabby's violent ideals and how Rei and Kei could teach her to control her temper and focus her mind. You agreed, though a little worried you could be giving someone with rage issues a way to express them.
Afterward you caught sight of a strange woman watching you, which lead to discovering she was a spy sent by Kakei to keep tabs on you and "deal" with you if your actions disagreed with the city's well-being. This quickly became a chase, where you caught the girl, but learned nothing new. You did figure out some words you'd like to have with Kakei, though.
After that you had a meaningful talk with Tabby about her motivations and aimless hate, agreeing that she had some things to work out, and that the twins would help her with that. But despite this, she still wishes to be the one to pull the lever that ends the lives of the bandits that made her a slave.
Welcome back to Beast in the Sky Quest!
You awake in the morning to, thankfully, no intrusive mechanic prodding you. It's a new day with new possibilities. Today marks the day of the public execution of the bandits you captured, which should be in a few hours from now if your clock is right. You still haven't discussed letting Tabby do it with Kakei, among other things you want to get off your chest. He should be in the palace by now.
What do you do and who do you bring?

Wasn't there someone doing a SWTOR Jump?
>You are one of three characters: Samson, a spoiled bard, Dyrus, an axe-wielding rebel's son, or Rene, an orphan adopted by a high-ranking Director of an ominous empire, now a prepromoted archer-lancer. POV will rotate between them on a thread-by-thread basis, with an off-chance that someone else might occasionally take a chapter.
>These protagonists' motivations and goals will very likely come into conflict with one another's.
>Character Death is always a possibility and sometimes an inevitability (this is Fire Emblem after all), but your actions can very easily influence who lives and who dies.

Rene feels... Oddly good, having saved the life of Nahuel, even with his promise that they were enemies from that day forth. Though what she did wasn't exactly in line with the Gerxel teachings of military obligations surpassing one's moral compass in terms of importance, and she had no reason to spare him the fate his comrades suffered, it didn't really contradict these teachings either, she justifies to herself. There was nothing the boy could report that the rebels couldn't have already known. Besides, she and Director Chiffon are more concerned with where those bodies went... More likely, into whose stomachs they went.
Dyrus and his allies continue their spell in Hawk Oasis under the watchful eye of Denim. For the first time in their trek through the desert, they've had time to relax in a town populated by humans after spending much of the trip avoiding cities, so their pit stop in the sparsely-populated walled oasis has dragged on for a few days. Today, though, today they finally set out. From here, Denim says, it's a straight shot to the Vautou stronghold that should only represent a couple days' worth of travel if they haul ass.
Samson is still riding the high of passion and rage he hadn't known lay dormant within him as he receives the a-okay from Fabrice on his plan. Dinah, Fabrice, and everyone else should be getting things ready as he and the rest spend their time outside, with him briefly growing acquainted with those VERY shredded twin bakers, Dough and Knut. Their abilities to seize axes off of the nearby guards, cut them down, and survive to do the same to more still is integral to the mission's initial success, after all.

How can technology be tastefully placed in a fantasy setting while keeping the main form of combat mostly limited to blades colliding?

Black powder powered rockets to move your blades at a high rate of speed at enemy troop clusters.

They're still ridiculously overpowered, but I don't hate them as much as I used to.
>What's your favorite part of the new core book?
The pages where they didn't make the text unreadable by using needlessly pale fonts and irritating fonts
>>47083251
Personally, I've yet to find any changes I'm not overall happy with. Biggest issue I've got is that the way Legacies work now doesn't exactly quell the old issue of them implying there's a high number of high-gnosis mages, since every Gnosis 2 initiate needs a Gnosis 4+ tutor, who needs a Gnosis 6+ tutor, who needs a Gnosis 8+ tutor, unless they want to do novel attainments.
Also the lack of information about the Abyss, but I figure that'll be put out eventually/I can just work off 1e info.
My favorite part, though, is probably the Fallen Worlds section of chapter six.
>>47083359
Actually, you don't need a tutor to gain a Legacy Attainment, you just need one to join.

What's the cheapest way into war gaming?
I used to play 40k when I was younger but now I want to get back into gaming on a tabletop and have a much more limited budget due to bills and shit. What's the cheapest route? I don't have paints, glue or any of that stuff any more so would have to factor that into cost.
This hobby is way too expensive but I have a crazy strong urge to get back in.
Flames of war my dude, that or shitty war machine, or for a better alternative if you like metal minis and small battles, infinity
For 40k
1.) Get into lore via lexicanum, youtube vidyaz, torrented books
2.) Torrent the rulebooks/PDF
3.) Buy off ebay
>>47081451
Just play skirmish or platoon sized games. Depending on your favourite kind of setting you have some choices. I am guessing you want sci fi,maybe warmachine or .mercs,or the new mantic game(i think dead zone or something like that) might interest you,but if you are interested in hystoricals i reckon prices tend to be a bit lower.
If you really need to buy a large scale, try avoiding GW's models, which are pretty expensive,if you really need to buy GW buy second hand. Remember not to buy GW's hobby tools which are generally overcosted, but also before you get into it you need to accept that it will be costly either way, you will need appropriate tools and models, don't hope to bum out of it because you can't. (Also there are recasts if you are interested in that kind of deal)
Do you do a voice when roleplaying your characters?
Does your GM?
How important do you consider voices to roleplaying? Does it depend on the character?
If you do voices does that include when/if you're playing crossgender?
What's the worst voice you've ever encountered in a game? And the best?
>>47074921
I feel like speech patterns or the particular words a character uses are more important than their accent or whatever.
That being said, when playing male characters I'll attempt a voice if it's one I can do without making it ridiculous. I NEVER do this for female characters because, let's face it, that's cringe-inducing for everyone at the table no matter how convinced you are that you can do it well. You are 110% That Guy if you even try.
I've tried to do voices but its very hard to stay consistent. My GM has tries as well but he unfortunately has a pretty nasally, nerdy voice naturally so they're often the worse voices I've ever heard.
Yes.
Yes (I am the DM).
Literally one of the most important things. I'm 100% serious, if you can't be bothered to even put a tiny bit of effort into not making your character just sound like you do, why should the DM put effort into running the game for you?
Yes.
I don't have an answer to this.
I have a dilemma teegee, I really like everything about druids from their powers to their aesthetics. However, I can never figure out how to properly roleplay one as I can never come up with a feasible motivation for one to go adventuring. Realistically, what reason would one of these tree fuckers have to leave their forrests and take on the adventuring lifestyle?
Nature's everywhere. Why wouldn't they want to see the entirety of its realm at least once?

>>47072666
Dual parallel planes, one consisting of pure elemental and conceptual chaos and energy, and the other a complete empty void. The stars themselves are simply open spherical portals between the two, and from them the forces of one plane diffused into the other, their chaos slowly becoming the basic forces of matter, and the primordial dregs of what would cool into the gods. There is always a tilt in energy from one side to the other through the stars, and there has always been the trade. Inevitably, one side takes on all the energy of the other, and the stars close for an unspoken eternity while the absolute churning chaos and the unabashed emptyness of the other both fallow, and the process begins anew.
The time is close, however, for when the space in which the setting takes place will slowly overcome it's partner plane, and the excess of energy will be greater than that of the other side. The sky will turn red, then orange, than gold as the stars pitch into darkness, betraying windows of the growing emptyness on the other side. The forces of magic will become to powerful, too chaotic. Reality will be inhospitable for comprehensible life. Eventually logic itself will break down, and the stars must close while all balance is finely shredded and evenly blended, so that no taint of the last cycle shall influence the next.

Use OOC and ask someone for help on how to play. People will almost always help you get a grip of the game if you're polite about it, just don't reveal too much in-round information in OOC.
