A long time ago a giant forged me a sword out of nostalgia. It's much better than the weapons they are making now.

A long time ago I had a giant forge me a sword out of uniqueness. Not a single blade like it, you know.
I received from a giant a sword made from blind optimism.
It will be useful any day now.
How might we subvert the plate armour trope?

Has /tg/ grown faster since the creation of /qst/? Has interest in GURPS died down pending the next Pyramid?
Don't we argue enough?
Is the GURPS community on /tg/ simply not a cancerous enough to sustain a general?
>>47064596
Could be finals time hobeslize. I'm too old to follow what the kiddies are doing these days
>tfw almost 30
>>47064596
Sorry, your thread was obviously cancerous quest baiting, and was thus ignored.
It's not actually that popular on /tg/ to make metathreads to bitch about people who play different types of games than you.
>Ask not the Eldar a question, for they will give you three answers, all of which are true and terrifying to know.
I hate how this single quote sums up 40k's "muh grimdeeeerr" shit. It's just a tryhard version of a LotR quote
>Go not to the Elves for counsel, for they will say both no and yes
What are some other cringey bits of 40k fluff?
The entire fluff of 40k is cringey if you take it seriously. It's a hodgepodge trashheap of 70s and 80s fiction and british culture. You are supposed to look and laugh at the stunning stupidity and the insane to-the-point-of-being-funny grimness of the setting.
The tag line is IN THE GRIM DARKNESS OF THE FAR FUTURE THERE IS ONLY WAR for fuck's sake.
>>47061770
Is that still the case though? A lot of the people here into 40k fluff seem to take it very seriously
>>47061937
Its pretty easy to tell, just ask their opinion on Orks.
My favorite goofy part of 40k lore is the Dark Angels "dark secret". Ostensibly that part of their chapter rebelled during the heresy. But given their Primarch's name, jokingly implied that they are closet sodomites.
>fairies are always harmful regardless of the situation, and all those folk tales involving helpful house fairies or curmudgeon-punishing fairies are nonexistent
>angels are always eldritch abominations who rip apart mortal minds with their appearances, and absolutely never have lesser versions who look close enough to humans to be mistaken for them
>demons really are evil, except for succubi, the demons who dindu nuffin and are guaranteed to be redeemable with tender love
>elves are snooty arrogant pricks, but don't worry, because we made them Nazis/Aztecs/Venetians/Russians in this setting and that makes them so much more original!
>dwarves are fookin' awesome, and that's why they're basically the exact same thing in every setting except for the occasional Jewish dwarves
Why is /tg/'s "understanding" of mythological/fantasy creatures so horrible?
>>47053734
Its a sign you need to leave 4chan for a while and hang around people who don't conform to the terrible "culture" of a single website.
>>47053734
>not having everything be eldritch abominations in your setting
be a summoner is a bitch
>>47053734
Jewish dwarves are the only good dwarves, unless you count dwemer.
>the improbably tall female fighter you've been adventuring with is actually a juvenile giantess that wondered away from her village while playing 'Forts & Knights' with her friends
Can you allow, what basically is, a child to serve as the parties beat stick / meat shield? Isn't that a "not good" act putting a kid in danger?
What do you do when her much taller parents show up?
Was it emotionally painful when the big girl removed her helmet in shame?
>>47047983
Change objective as soon as possible, you must now locate the village and return your friend to her parents. As to the morality of the situation, I'd say it depends. If you knew she was a kid from the start, then yeah you're a piece of crap, if you didn't, the fact is that her parents are probably worried sick and you should really get her home. This will either be a great chance to retire the character or simply have a bit of character development during the sidequest before the parents give their approval. (Perhaps giants typically go wandering when they come of age and her parents won't mind as long as they get a letter now and then.)

Since the update is a bit too big and is still in the works to be changed, you can find it here:https://docs.google.com/document/d/11lm29OHBNuwXdegZZWV2xraf7SDsGut4wHCu2bwypQQ/edit?usp=sharing
The previous run has been ended given that this new version will require a bit of testing before it should be used as a stable platform for play. As of this moment, Grid-Lock is back in testing mode.
Characters from the previous game version can be carried over, albeit they will be modified to fit the current standard. Please post old character sheets to get your new character sheet.

I guess i just build a new one?
Uranium is used to make modern projectiles heavier, but are there any low-tech weapons that could benefit from the increased density?
Yes, higher sectional density is always good.
In fact people suspect gold initially acquired its desirability partly because of its lustre and partly because people noticed that the little yellow rocks were really good at killing other people when you lob them with a sling.
>>47076038
So, just projectile weapons? Sling bullets, crossbow bolts and catapult rocks? Nothing like uranium lucerne hammers?
>>47076043
Melee weapons don't care that much about sectional density. Sure if you have a heavier hammerhead it will do more damage when you swing it, but it's also harder to swing.
Your regular steel is plenty heavy for bludgeoning weapon so there's no point.
>bad gm
>blame the system
>can't find people to play the game you want to play
>blame the games they do want to play
>no one wants to play with you
>it's their fault
The GM is important, but a GM can only do so much.
The quality of the system isn't the only factor in determining how much you'll enjoy a game, but that doesn't mean it isn't important. A good system will support your experience and make it easier, while a bad system will make it harder. However, a lot of that burden goes on the GMs shoulders, hence why people might have rose tinted views of certain systems because they've never had to run them.
The other side, of course, is GMs who invest so much in becoming able to run a bad system that they start to buy into the sunk cost fallacy, defending that system against all comers to try and justify the amount of time and effort they spent, rather than being able to mindfully acknowledge its flaws while still having fun with it.
You can enjoy bad systems, and you can have fun games with them. But it's still worth being aware of a systems flaws and not letting personal bias compromise you on that front.
>>47072657
>The GM is important, but a GM can only do so much.
Not really. They can literally flip the system on its head and take only the parts they want, and that's not some cosmic crime. There is literally no limit to what a GM can do.
And, if the GM uses the system as the core of the heavily-modified game he runs, he's free to defend that system as much as he wants, especially if he's defending it against whiners who like to exaggerate what flaws it might have.

So we had an Infernal Tiefling Ranger who just had a blood lust for killing orphans after witnessing my retarded half orc kill an urchin child. I tried to give an urchin child a coin but our DM asked for a strength check, I rolled a 21. The coin was embedded in the kids skull.
Later on we entered a town and kinda started a massive brawl, so he went to find the closest orphan and just destroyed him. Our ranger later died in that town so we decided to open an orphanage as a front for other deeds and were naming it after him.

Mage 2e was released to Beast's backers who selected that tier, as well as playtesters. The rest of us who want to purchase it properly will be salivating for the next 20-something hours, and then hardcopies will take about another month. In the meantime, someone has shared the PDF with us, so let's not pretend we aren't pouring over it for flaws and thinking how cool it is while wishing we actually played games.

Hello and welcome everyone, new and old players alike! This is Tundra civ, a civ thread series in a fictional, non-fantasy setting where you play as the rulers of the White Republic, a nation in a world similar to our own.
Check out the pastebin for story, technologies, stats etc.

Previously, on Tundra civ:
Advancing into the Second Industrial Revolution, the White Republic was entering its most prosperous days as Prime Minister Nestian's successful policies and charming personality inspired the nation. This was all cut short by a series of anarchist attacks on our capital and many other cities, which resulted in the deaths of the PM and many in his Cabinet. President Atanius, a retired general, was granted emergency powers and led our armies to crush the Second eastern Uprising, in which pajit and ramki lands banded together in revolt against our republic. After a successful campaign, Atanius and his men were welcomed back in Centerhold as heroes.
President Atanius announced to the Council that he will not relinquish his position. He has assumed the title of Imperator, dictator for life. To prevent a civil war, the Council negotiated with him and agreed to work under him, while our new dictator has agreed that democracy will return after his death.

Aymsland was yet again a battlefield - the four vassal pajit states and the ramki lands rose up and formed the United Front of Resistance. Eventually they were defeated by the forces of our Republic and our more loyal vassals.
Our military losses were estimated to around 100 000, while over half a million pajit and ramki have died and many have fled the continent. The material damages will be repaired eventually, but the Council agreed to support Atanius in his eventual plan to annex the pajit lands and remove all pajit and ramki from the continent - one way or another.
Our allies, the Kaichou Empire and Sunset Alliance, have now marked that a larger part of their population lives in their Eyerdar colonies than the homeland. Delegates from our allies were present in Centerhold and were also victims to anarchist terrorists, but their governments have stated that they continue to consider us part of the Occidental Axis.
The NPU has recieved many immigrants from Aymsland following the rebellions.
