You know, these steam machines are great, but I was thinking, what if we designed a tiny universe, waited for life to evolve there, and then showed them how to use electricity? In theory, they could manufacture more than they needed, and route the rest up to us.

Maybe take the concept of yin and yang where pretty much everything fits in one or the other and crank it up to eleven, anything that could be considered diametrically opposing is on one side of the other, up/down, left/right, whether toilet paper should be over or under, etc. maybe even things that aren't really diametrically opposed, like chalk and chips, or donkeys and horses.

Maybe I should have been a bit more specific about their motivations. The kobolds don't actually care about the town, they work as a distraction for the real invasion force and their objective is simply to occupy the counterattacking army as long as possible.

My heart goes out to Whelk, who is probably going to die twice over if he's gonna go through with being a hero. With that said, he's probably buying time for people to get up the ladder but it seems Loka , Scann and the Cleric are committed to the tunnel exit wherever that would lead. Maybe it connects to the north east exit ?

Download Lost Mine of Phandelver and run that. It's great intro to 5e and RPGs in general, for both players and DMs.

Also you might want to get an extra player or two. D&D is intended for 3-5 players and 1 DM, so only 2 players might make things a bit tough on them. You'll still have fun if you're not shits though.

I DM a regular 2 PC game(Guy/gal). Also Phandelver is a great start and is how we got into the game. We have been 2 maning for a year now and its still a ton of fun. Just mix in their backgrounds a bit once they grow into their characters and the adventures will feel really inclusive and unique even if you are just splashing their backgrounds on top the good modules. Also encourage History/Arcana/etc checks so they can get accustomed to learning and investigating rather than smashing gobbos. Also with smaller groups you can have NPCs join to fill the gap. Its honestly a lot easier to RP with a smaller party. Good luck sir!

Once you have a fair idea, grab the rulebooks you want and update your gamefinder, r20 and forum posts to reflect the systems you now know and want to try out.
