Is it worth playing? I don't like getting into TCGs and wasting money on boosters where there are a lot of other games where I don't have to chase rares.

The most expensive card you might want to use is getting rotated out in September. Most rares can be obtained for less than 5 dollars, and the rulers range from 3-15 typically but you only need one. In general packs are nice 3 bucks nets you 1 or 2 rares and the commons are playable. The game is cheap if you don't foil it out, and even then the most expensive card is a $1000 gold plated tournament prize. There are currently 8 sets in standard 5 of those will be rotated out in September, the Aria and Pricia trial decks are a good place to start as they give decent directions to build. Word of warning do not buy from walmart, target or toys r us packs cost 4 at target and walmart and 5 at toys r us, while the trail decks cost 20 at walmart and 26 at toys r us. You can get packs from your local store for 3 and the trail decks for 16, at least that's what it is here.

Staccato bursts of gunfire and scattered explosions echo into the conference room from the battlefield as you hover over Abigail's writhing form, lips set in a thin line as she struggles to suck in rasping breaths, frothy bubbles building up over the gunshot wound in her chest with every ragged breath. "How long has she been like this?" You ask urgently, eyeing the redhead's deviating trachea while you push one hand underneath her to sweep her back, your fingers quickly finding a shoddily applied bandage over her shirt.

"I'd say about fifteen or twenty minutes, son. She patched Abi up pretty fast after she took the damned bullet, but then started having trouble breathing...it's only gotten worse since then." Tom answers, nodding towards Angel with concern clear in his voice, "I've seen men with that wound before, Jack, she-"

You shoot the veteran a pointed look, "Maybe so, Tom, but I wasn't there for them. I'm here now, and I can handle this." You reply quickly, drawing a mixed look of concern and hope from the three other healthy people in the room, before turning your attention back to the redhead, "Abi, can you hear me?"

The French girl swallows thickly before trying to nod, though she only manages a slight dip of her head, "Y-yes, I-" She starts painfully, pausing to gasp desperately before continuing weakly, "Jack, I-I'm scared..."

Your stomach twists painfully at her admission, though you do your best to keep that fact to yourself as you reach out to rest a hand on her shoulder reassuringly, "It's going to be okay, Abi. I'm here now, and I'm not going to let anything happen to you. We're going to make it through this together, you got me?" The redhead starts to open her mouth to reply, but before she can you squeeze her shoulder, "You don't need to say anything, just nod if you want."

The whole group eventually got real sick of that bullshit. Anytime he floats the idea of running his latest back-alley abortion of a rules set everyone present just simultaneously yells "FIRST RUN A GAME OF [Savage Worlds/ORE/Call of Cthulhu/whatever game Steve heard of this week]!", a different command per person. We might actually playtest another of his games if he fulfilled any given one of them.

It would be rather nice if he broadened his horizons. Fuck, if he at least joined us in a non-D&D campaign, that would be an improvement.

God DAMN this shit pisses me off. My response to that is always "if you don't want players 'ruining' your precious story, go write a fucking novel."

When I GM, I fully expect the PCs to ruin everything I thought I had planned because that's part of the fun. I want the players to turn the mentioned-in-passing set piece into a major thing, mess with important NPCs in creatively fucked up ways, and make an incredible mess of events. Otherwise I'm just rolling to randomly generate a book with my friends providing color commentary.

I typically just freeform it, if I need to bust out a magical item or anything like that, I just make something up that would logically fit in to the situation, or something that could be used later. My players are pretty good about things like that though so I don't worry about it much. Only two really weird sexual things that happened are this one time they killed a troll with its own penis and another time when a character didn't make a save on resurrection and came back to life as a sexual deviant. Really made the game hard to play after that, every encounter started with "I'M GOING TO FUCK IT" no matter what the encounter was with. As far as pure eroticism, my players are too goofy most of the time despite being good players. :/

Backstory doesn;t take alot of explaining, gives a good reason my character knows how to fight, and having just won their freedom (or escaped) they have plenty of reason to use the only skill they have (killing things) to make some kind of living that won't have them right back in the arena as a slave again.
