Have you ever played a master of disguise type character? Either using "traditional" props in a real-world game, super science or magic? It's an interesting archetype that doesn't see much play and I can totally see a Mission Impossible style fantasy campaign.
Yeah, I played a changeling. The pale gaunt shapeshifter race kind, not the stolen at birth kinds. One of the main focuses of the character was being able to turn a corner down an alleyway and change appearance in moments.

Is this that redeemed succubus meme again?
>>47263551
Anon.... help me! All I can think about is that awful movie when reading your post.
Master of Disguise trailer
Have you ever tried to use Discord to run online tabletop?
I wanna give it a shot because
>Private servers
>Separate Text and Voice channels that can be browsed at the same time
>Multiple channels that could be used for in-game and OOC
>Channel nicknames that can be changed into character names
>Roles and role management for various uses like straight up GM-PLAYER or classes per role
>The ability to bring, create or customize diceroller bots with various functions for specific games
The only thing it's really lacking is videochat and/or screen sharing for maps and other shit, but it honestly sounds pretty good
Alternatively, what do you use for online games other than roll20?
>>47262967
Currently running Talislanta 4e vua Discord because roll20 decided to go ahead and be a little bitch when thr firs session was scheduled. It's pretty gud. It holds character sheets, allows for sorting the party into channles however you like, all that. It has two failings, namely no screen sharing and shitty dice, but both are workable. Though I think we may be switching to ye olde maptoolse soon.

>Have you ever tried to use Discord to run online tabletop?
discord.me/jttrpg
I tend to lurk here and got a couple really neat games going.
Prefer it over IRC for text and Skype for voice, most bots are kind of shit at rolls and there is no VTT.
>>47263195
Maptools is pretty alright. There is a BR toll called Firecast that is better thouhg.
>>47262967
We use discord for voice chat and roll20 to do the rolls. It just works.
So since BFG is having a revival and Armada recently got new ships, let's have a Firestorm Universe general.
>>47260573
First for ded games. Taskforce saw no new releases, in fact, no new stats, since February when the starters were released. Good planning.
>>47260573
Spartan Games ADHD is real.
>It's halo time now, fuck you.- Spartan
>>47263702
It's not even that. It's Halo: Ground Combat time now.
You can actually spot the exact point where they stopped giving a fuck about the space game around the time they released the Valiant.
Plus they had a weird-war 2 3mm game involving Rattes, Maus Companies and other shit AS WELL on display at Salute, so THAT'S a thing also.
At this point, I beleive that Spartan have more active games than they have actual employees, and seem clinically unable to understand why that's a bad thing.
On a tangential note, I could do with Hawk Wargames giving us some kind of update with regards to Dropfleets ETA, were getting pretty close to June and the last thing any of us saw was that the Shaltari BB is out of the design stage, and what the Scourge Cruiser sprue looks like, and that was over a month ago.
This close to the stated release date I would have hoped for a LOT more publicity than what we are getting from Hawk Wargames.
How do I make my combat more dangerous? Regardless of system.
Add more mechanical nuances to combat that players have to look out for and roll on
aka artificial difficulty
>>47259993
Why do you want it to be more dangerous?
>>47259993
Have rocks floating above your players' heads at all times, with random rolls determining whether they fall or not.
What would be contained in your ideal generic system? What do you think the hallmarks of a good generic system are? What is your favorite generic system and why? What "lethality level" do you think is ideal? How tough should characters be? What attributes should be used? Other opinions? Please don't make this a shitstorm.
inb4 they suck, yes some genres you might as well use the game tailored for that genre (D&D, or Call of Cthulu, or Apocalypse World depending) but it's nice to have a go-to system to run a new idea.
>>47259794
Savage Worlds does pretty much everything I want. Easy system, fast combat, reroll mechanics, etc. It's simple to work with and you can run just about anything with minimal effort.
Im putting together a game od Ops and Tactics right now. I mean its generally a system for modern combat but it has some great melee rules too. I could see using it for everything from medieval to future combat.
My game is a bit like shadowrun with less crunch and none of shadowruns fluff ( i hate shadowruns left leaning nature). There is magic and cybernetics with rules in the splat book for it, as well as being friendly for new players and dms.
>>47259932
Quick question, though.
Do they expect people to use 3.5 monsters?
>>47259074
>dat old Marine art
I remember when that sort of excessive artstyle was everywhere. When did we become so reserved? It's weird that in an era where individuality is easily achievable, people start liking conformist uniform aesthetics.
>>47259074
>stormtrooper above clone trooper.
>>47263345
Since when were either of those forces "Marines" anyway? And for that matter, where are the Colonial Marines?
Let's say you were replacing "HP" in a system with "Armor Points", with the idea that once a character is out of AP, they start taking wounds and get death spirally.
How do you:
Make AP scale with level
do things equivalent to "health potions", repair oil? Mending balm?
>>47258816
Could have a "natural armor" or have it effectively function as armor but call it Endurance points or something. I like the concept, makes it more realistic.
Making HP scale with level is pretty simple. Just go with you're better at taking the hits with the armor. While early on you might just tense your body when struck causing your armor to baldly dent with more experience you might relax a limb slightly or turn your body, turning a hard hit into a glancing scratch.
As for equivalent to health potions, you can't do too much unless you want to magic away damage. You could scavenge armor from foes you defeated without breaking every piece. Stabbed through the heart? Maybe the helmet is still mostly intact. Decapitation? Might be able to salvage the chest piece or at least the chain under it. Of course this all relies on the armor fitting.
>>47258816
So, say this was implimented in 5e D&D, your AC is instead how many Armor points you have, then hit die are converted to a simpler Wounds. At level one, a wizard has like 1-2 wounds where as a fighter at the same level has maybe 4-5. Once a creature takes a wound, they gain disadvantage till healed. Rolling to hit is based entirely on saves. Damage from weapons is converted to a more appropriate measurement for breaking armor and then damaging wounds. Certain weapins are better at damaging armor such as maces, some weapons have a greater chance to possible ignore armor altogather to cause a wound, based on weapin type and perhaps user skill. Eg, a crossbow bolt could target an unarmed body location to influct a wound at an increased DC. Some weapons when attacking an unarmed target do one extra wound, like dagger or something.
Welcome to the grand opening of guildhall!.
I trust you've all got your keycards in order
Now after the banquet you get a couple minutes to discuss your new weapon. bathrooms are on your left, inorganic disposal is for the grey garbage can, organic in the red garbage can.
hmmm it looks kinda ugly, what is that thing you brought?
Oh, this. This was suppose to be a shrinking ray. All i got was a ray that turned organic beings into tiny blobs of meat.
>>47257528
Op here
(TL';DR come up with interesting weapon ideas that may or may not be feasible)
I've thought about adding a Whip launching gun in my setting for impaling or grappling enemy's
>Exotic weapon proficiency "Whip-Shot
>2d8 piercing damage
>30ft reach
>move action to reload or retrieve whip shot
>+2 to grapple maneuvers & feint attacks
>>47257528
Don't happen to have some brothers do you?
Is an invasion of energy beings from another dimension still science fiction or already fantasy?
Depends on whether you call it magic or use a technobabble term.
>>47257036
It's science fantasy.

>The NPC is a tough mercenary
>OK, pitch my voice a little lower and make it a little rougher
>The NPC is a tough female mercenary
Fuck this shit.
>>47256208
I did a female voice once. Half the players at the table were gawking at me, one of the others was laughing and the last one had a very prominent blush on his face.
This is why I don't do voices any more.
>>47256208
That's when you do your Scarlett Johansson impression.
Pictured, tough female mercenary.
I joined a game without realizing that we were doing IC in voice chat (I'm used to OOC voice chat and IC text chat), where I had a signed up as an old witch.
I just said fuck it and did my best, and people had a good time. No one expects you to be a professional voice actor.
>starving for D&D
>cant use roll20 because I'm a textonly fag with a terrible voice
>cant do local tabletop because nobody around here plays
>could probably DM a text only game but foreverDM and never get to be the player.
help
Blogpost on /tg/, it always works
Beyond that, I guess just keep an eye out for games, dude, maybe go to the LFG threads.
Oh shit, this is me all the time. I can never really be a player for stupid reasons too
Hate it when that shiit happens
>>47256176
how about you hang yourself, you shitposting blogger?
Am i the only one who thought that GWAR fit the bill for champions of chaos pretty well?
>>47256030
Bolt Thrower was better.
>>47256030
No, they're a fucking perfect representation of Chaos in 40k and I've been contemplating this for a long while.
>>47256063
I wouldn't know, they don't make albums, sell merchandise or tour.RIP in peas David Brockie and Martin Kearns
>>47256030
I saw them the last time they played Download festival in the UK with their original lineup.
They mutilated an effigy of Queen Elizabeth II on stage and I got a gout of fake dogs blood right in my eye.
Then I met a dwarf (Squat?) who shared his amyl nitrate with me and the rest is history.
Any good youtubers that talk about magic/new brews that are not as autistic as MTG LION? Honestly he has good topics to talk about but he just seems like imba autist to me and I can't handle to listen to him.
i think rogue deckbuilder is pretty ok, he says some stupid shit but overall he seems much less autistic then the other mtg youtubers
>>47255699
>Honestly he has good topics to talk about
He just does the same 3 topics over and over again.
>he rants about how standard is too expensive and speculators and card hoarders are ruining MtG, while sitting in front of a ceiling high stack of sealed product
>he talks about price spikes and what cards he is currently speculating on
>he talks about stolen MtG collections
Seems like an okay guy for an autist though
>>47256353
oh, and cheaters
he loves talking about cheaters
anyone wanna DM me and my friends through a 5e campaign?
>>47255013
No.
