How do you operate /tg/?
With lots of explosions.
Operationally.

Why do Yuan Ti purebloods look like humans, but abominations look like snakes? I think the name are misleading here.
If their society values snakelike features, shouldn't abominations be considered the most pure?
>>47288817
Never made sense to me either.
So neckbeards can have a snake lady to waifu.
>>47288817
Could just be a translation from their language to Common using whatever terms other races used for them. The other races would be inclined to believe that the Purebloods are what the race is supposed to be, since it looks like the rest of the races. In contrast the Abominations have very little in common physically with humans, dwarves, or elves, aside from having arms, so they call them something ugly and unnatural. For the Yuan-ti, these are just sounds, having no inherent meaning in their language, so they just let it go.
was reading through a thread where a GM intended to force one of his players to take on the mantle of a dark god.
I too was planning on using an amulet that would forcibly change the elements of the spells one of my players used, as well as grant other bonuses.
then it occurred to me, since this has never happened to me as a player, how do they usually react when a GM forces some kind of change on their character like forcing a paladin to have all dark powers, or even the other way around forcing a dark mage to become a light mage. or something not so good/evil more like mine where I'm switching his fire magic to the ice element.
have you ever done this as a GM? has this happened to you as a player? share and let me know if this is a good or a bad thing.
Fucking horrible plan. Never change something dramatic about a character unless you have their consent. They'res nothing more buzz kill than your paragon of purity that you're having fun playing being fiated into a servant of a dark god. It kills your motivation for roleplaying the character that you've been developing
>>47288711
Bad idea, I would say. A change fire magic -> ice magic might go alright but better if you asked the player beforehand. A change good -> evil without asking the player is probably going to go badly and they might even kill off their character and make a new one.
That said, I have no RPGing experience so perhaps take what I say with a pinch of salt.
>>47288711
Terrible plan, as others have said. Major changes to a character that players have no control over are bad.
>using an amulet that would forcibly change the elements of the spells one of my players used, as well as grant other bonuses
Would the player be able to take off and not use the amulet? And would using the amulet in the first place without knowing what it does result in something bad for the players even if it only happens once?
D&D-style cursed items are okay since they negatively impact a character's abilities but can be removed somehow. They don't change a character concept. An item or ability that has bonuses and drawbacks can work well if the player can choose how to use it.
Stat me, any system

Let's have this thread 8 more times today, shall we?
For Rifts i'd make him a Mega Juicer, and just fluff out the biocomp and short life span etc.

Alright /tg/, I was thinking about homebrewing a JoJo Tabletop RPG but i need help. First and foremost would be what system would be used, a friend told me combat would have to be more story oriented unless a player has a standard punch-ghost
>>47288468
We've got a FATE hack and another one that gets posted every Super Stand Sunday if I remember right
>>47288653
Interesting, any links?

Afraid not on my side, you'll have to wait for the next guy to post the OP either here or next sunday
So there is this guy on my local store that plays eldar and it's annoying as fuck. Literally manchild the player.
And he is always pestering me with "play vs me, you never play vs me" Which I havent because I dont like playing with unpainted miniatures.
Anyways besides the point, other friends in the shop have shared with me that the secret to get him to fuck off is by curb stomping him IN game.
So I came here /TG/ to gather advice on how to crush them pesky eldar the easiest and most over humilliating way possible.
No forgeworld.
Annoying manchild uses avenger formation and always puts his farseer in a unit of 10.
Probably will field a wraithknight after he gets blasted.
I play space marines and I was thinking on using the following strategy.
Use conclave librarian and load it up on a drop pod. Have the drop pod land near his avengers with the farseer.
Proceed to unleash two powers "if we are using the new faqs that is" in buffing or fucking around with my enemy so that he runs out of dice.
Then use fulmination to reposition my Librarians in exchange for my Centurions with grav guns "a friend said Honor guard or reclusiam would be better but I dont like him hitting before I do"
Proceed to anally devastate him.
What do you think? Comments? suggestions?
Eldar are cool.
>>47288569
They are but the manchild that plays me needs to be defeated. He taints the coolnes of the eldar.
Otherwise I will never be left in peace.
What strategy do you think would be convenient in this case?
>>47288424
Play Space Marines, but just bring a Librarian with a Centurion squad.
Ally in Necrons spamming the cheesiest things possible.
Write me a D20 Future campaign in under 100 words; or throw me some of your ideas.

No.
What's the best way to get a die-hard d20 group into GURPS?
>>47288192
Make them play with 3d6 instead of 1d20 for a session or two.
>>47288192
Kill them and get a new group
>>47288192
try telling them that death or having a arm cut off every other battle is fun. OR that the spell casting in combat is silly, Sorry, the kind of people that like D&D well never like a "let's set and talk everything out" story system

Can you make a cyberpunk fantasy setting without advanced technology?
>>47287379
Well, you've neutered the central premise of "Cyber" in it by removing the advanced technological aspect, and introduced "punk" as a setting genre into fantasy, which usually isn't conducive to the rebellious nature "punk" implies.
Still, might be able to make it function. Instead of advanced technology, it could deal with magic and the machinery/systems that govern the universe's laws, and advanced mathematics and rules. The "punk" aspect could imply that there's an overpowering order that imposes its will over everything, and the PCs and associates act as sort of universal law hackers that bend or break those rules without attracting too much attention, often employed by those overpowering, imposing forces for their own purposes, be they straightforward in their goals or part of some inscrutable plot.
You might want to take a look at The Elder Scroll's Dwemer, and their whole practice of science and reason, plus the entire fictional science of tonal architecture. Still, the Dwemer actually used a lot of technology, though much of it clockwork and somewhat simple in comparison to computers and other such "advanced technology," at least in practice rather than principle.
>>47287379
cyberpunk implies advanced technology, no?
if it's not advanced it'd just be modempunk fantasy, no?
>>47287379
But cyberpunk tech is advanced usually. Why would you drop VR?
Hello fa/tg/uys, I am currently working on creating a fantasy world for a game I am about to run. It will use Pathfinder to power it, and will be played by almost complete newbies.
Seeing as there is nothing new under the Sun I both intentionally and unintentionally borrow heavily from other works, and don't much care for criticism on that front.
What I AM looking for is suggestions for plot hooks, cultures, political intrigue, NPCs, dungeons etc.
If there are any of you that are interested I will share the outline, and I will eagerly await your input.
>>47287353
Got a map for your setting?
>>47287378
Nah, it's very early in developement. And as such I am very open to suggestions, even to suggestions for the map. I'll post the outline, seeing as there is some interest. Be back in a sec.
I'll skip the creation myth for now, and start from the point in history where things begin to matter.
Some 800 years ago a small country got overtaken by a cleric of a lesser deity, the god of travel, created by the greater gods to lord over the domain of travel, as well as the travel between planes, and most importantly the passage of the souls of the deceased into their appropriate god's plane for their afterlife.
The cleric turned the country into a theocracy, converting all citezens to the faith, by whichever means necessary. As in most Sword & Sorcery worlds, the more followers a god has, the more powerful he is, so the god of travel got a bit of a pick-me-up.
The theocracy instated many priest-engineers, and by fully exploiting their god's power quickly advanced 'technologically'. They used portals to the elemental planes as infinite power sources, used it for everything. Many people flocked to the country. Eventually the theocracy found a way to weaponize the portals, essentially creating siege weapons, easily devastating much larger armies. They eventually overtook the continent either diplomatically or by force, acting in a similar way as the Roman empire, assimilating all the conquered peoples, giving them citizenship, as long as they pledged allegiance. The theocracy reached it's pinnacle as the once lesser deity of travel was now on steroids, other gods feared, and resented him. At this pinnacle of it's power just as it set out to conquer other continents the god vanished, presumed dead. The theocracy imploded in on itself as rebellions to reclaim the previous country's national identities rose.
That was 600 years ago. Now the continent is stabilized, for the most part, broken into more countries than had existed prior to the theocracies uprise. The world is covered in ruins of a once great culture, with great magic and technology littering the street, but simply unusable. The gods got their followers back, and stabilized their seats of power.
What system would you use to run a Western game? Not with weird ghosts and Native American magic, just classic frontier action.
>inb4 GURPS
GURPS
really
most if the weird west systems hold up okay even if you gut them of magic and ghosts and steampunk and whatever else, but I keep hearing people mention dogs in the vinyard for regular western settings.

This are the "Creative Consultants" for Kaladesh.
