I need pictures of regal looking Driders, cute/friendly Driders, and some soldier ones. All female, as in my setting they are only female in opposition to the regular elf king of the dark wood. I need art for the Queen, who is stern. Pic related is her peace-loving sister.

I mean, that's fine, but I legitimately need art for my campaign. I'm not good at drawing monsters. I can only really do scenery.

Showing the new test pops for the Northern minis.

These are the minis they will be sending off to their commissioned painters so they can get some photos for the box art.

Seriously its so dumb starting out in a card game because you don't have the 6 quintillion cards the regulars of the game have. Is it even possible to balance a card game so this shit doesn't happen?

Collectable card games have that problem, yes, but constructed deck formats and deck building games are generally free of this problem. Try Netrunner as opposed the Hearthstone.

Try playing online. On some websites, such as untap.in, there is no limit on what cards you can use and what you have available.

Stellaris has been my vidya kick lately, and it got me thinkin: What systems work best for space opera? Exploration as well as action.

I've heard good things about Mongoose traveler. I'm aware of Eclipse phase, but I haven't heard as much positive about that.

>>

Eclipse Phase is more of a cyberpunk/horror setting. It's got stuff that might work for exploration and galactic scale multi-species interactions, but generally it's probably not anywhere close to being a "space opera".

Traveler is what you want to go with, though I haven't played it myself.

Garou Valley, the heart of the Wolfskin region.

Here, the paths of Rene and Dyrus may finally intertwine.

Dyrus' family is all somber with thought of where his father, Dyrus Sr., disappeared. A vile corruption existing under the astute nose of Director Chiffon, despite his best efforts to sniff out the wolves in... less evil wolves' clothing. Chief Tien and several other Tarvosians are expected to unite with them soon, another group of temporary companions replacing Paisley and the Vautou in their home region.

"Hey," he said when Winona attempted to offer him Iote's Shield back before they parted ways, "you'll need that more than me... These mages are a buncha chumps now that their leader's gone! My men and I can stop them from killing you guys without even breaking sweats!"

Rene, meanwhile, is far less jovial about the never-ending advancement of Lady Hauteclere, the likelihood of facing her and Veiz' father's killers, the hopes of snuffing out the leader of the flesh-eaters as the gang's investigation continues to be empty-handed. Methodius reports sadly about his frailty and failure to repel rebels in the Southern islands or the desert, that he "must be slipping in his age," before being off.

"...it's hopeless, I think," Chiffon says, in a meeting he's called after Methodius returned from a lesson with Veiz, then departed again. "If we try to fight the resistance, we're gonna die. I might just... Go out there, talk with them, see if there's no way for us to just let 'em and the Tarvosians pass us by." This suggestion is horribly controversial, but Chiffon certainly intends to try.

Oh, and Samson is off fighting sea-mobsters in the island. Sailing to the subregion surrounding Nevasa Island in the hopes of defeating the forces of Oswald Dory's son, Cornelius. Despite his disconnection from the main campaigns of the war, he fights no less passionately.

>A. Be Rene

A Song of Ice and Fire DnD/RPG/Quest Thread: Beta 2.0 test
Created by JONSNO, Ornstein, and Ash, with special thanks to the other memes that occupy the GoB chat

This game is a text-based, player-driven RPG set in George R R Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire Universe. A story is set up by the OP, and is played through by any number of players, with the maximum decided upon by the OP.

>Getting Started

To claim a spot, link a post stating you're doing so to the OP or the latest update. Your next step is to make a character. Follow the following template:

- Name
- Age
- Birthplace/Hometown
- Job/Position
- Weapons and equipments (can be anything, but can only provide a total bonus of 5 points)
- House/Faction (You can belong to any house, but if you belong to a major noble house you will have to be either a bastard or just be working for that house as whatever it is you are. No story specific characters; ie. Lords, kings, or any factions OP denies for story purposes from the start)
- Goal/Quest (Leave it blank and I will assume the character is free to do just about anything that is still relevant to the character.)
- Prefered Starting location (This is entirely up to where OP places you to give you a chance to team up with other characters, but if you are more of a loner character, he will have a better idea where to place you if you have a preferred location.)
- Short Description of the characters looks

In addition, you must also roll for initial skill points. A roll of 2-3 gives 5 points, 4-5 gives 10 points, 6-7 gives 15 points, 8-9 gives 20 points, and a 0 gives 25 points. If you roll a 1, you can roll again. If you choose not to roll, you can take 10 points. You can distribute the skill points you rolled for among the stats available.

Stats
>See chart

>Flow of the game

At the start of each turn, the OP will provide an update. These updates contain replies from NPCs and results of your roll. To roll for an action, link to the update and formulate your action like this

Player>Action(Stat, specialization)

A roll of 7 will always be a success, with a 5 or 6 succeeding on mundane actions at OP's discretion. A roll of 0 is a critical success, and a roll of 1 is a critical failure. Other gets receive bonuses decided on by OP. A successful roll gives +1 to the stat it used, and a critical success gives +2. A critical failure gives -1. Stats cannot be negative.

For every 5 skill points a stat has invested in it, it receives a mastery point. This mastery point can be donated to any of the 3 specializations of the corresponding stat, with a maximum of 4 per specialization. Each mastery point gives a +1 to every roll using that specialization. Each stat can grow to give a maximum of 8 mastery points.

Also, sign every post with your character name, stat spread, and equipment bonuses.

>Equipment

Equipment is any item your character carries that provides a bonus to specializations. Each piece of equipment adds an amount of bonus points to a related specialization up to its maximum of 4. Adding equipment, however, does not take away from the stat's 8 mastery point maximum.
Valyrian steel doubles the growth and reduction rate of all stats, ie. a successful roll will increase skill points by 2, a 1 will decrease skill points by 2, a 0 will increase by 4.

>Money

Money and economy play an important role in the world of ASoIaF. Money has the following values:
10 copper pennies == 1 copper star
50 copper stars == 1 silver stag
100 silver stags == 1 gold dragon
A player may start the game with any number of money up to and including 20 stags.

>Duels

A roll between two player characters, or a player character and an NPC with stats is treated as a duel. A single roll judges the outcome of this conflict, but the roll is interpreted differently. First, the roll must succeed normally with the appropriate stat bonuses. This determines whether or not the action is performed properly. Then, the total value of the roll of the attacking player (raw roll + bonuses) must be higher than the roll of the opposing party, plus their own bonuses. Even if the opposing party did not roll the same stat as the attacking player, the stat used by the attacker is used for this check. This check determines whether or not the performed action affects the other party as desired.
However, two characters in the same vicinity, whether they be player characters or NPCs, can speak with one another or cooperate without rolling to duel if they are in the same vicinity. All interactions can only occur between players in the same vicinity.

Hey so in my game i have a location that is a flying castle in the sky, manly so the players know where it is and won't get lost trying to find it. but also for dramatic effect of knowing that who ever runs it has the power to keep a castle sustained in the sky.

when it came time for them to finally enter i was gonna have some generic gargoyles pick up the players and fly them up, scaring the shit out of them, and showing them they have no easy way back down without these gargoyles.

so I've been thinking (because this isn't going to be my only floating area) about other ways to have the players reach giant floating structures in the sky?

Tell me about your floating structures? who inhabits them? how do they float? do they sit on the back of a dragon or something?

and most importantly how did your players get to them?

>Floating castles and how to reach them

You don't. The entire purpose of flying castles is that they're up so high that people /without wings/ can't get up there. Maybe try a flight, heat and constitution spell. You'll probably need some high level mages and alchemists for this.

/tg/ tell me about the primary plots you currently have in progress, either as a DM with full knowledge of the plot or as a player with your best assessment of the plot in progress.

to start things off:
>players began as a group of volunteers hunting bandits and a stolen artifact
>players discover the son of the magistrate who hired them is working with the bandits and is a coward
>players kill or capture the bandits, the son flees
>the players are now investigating a lead about who hired the bandits originally
>the magistrate's son is currently on the lam searching for power and will find it as a vampire
>the artifact is part of The Quorum, an ancient collection of items representing votes which can legally impeach a king and replace him with a new one if gathered together

your turn, /tg/. give me as much or as little info as you have, i'm a glutton for punishment/RPG plots

To deal with high, heavy armor, what is better an axe or a mace?
Assume the weapon to be used with a shield and the user to be recently trained, strong and use heay armor himself.
38 posts and 5 images submitted.
>>
Mace, no contest. Flanged maces - along with the pointy end of warhammers and various polearms like halberds - are designed to focus the force of a blow on a single point, allowing the possibility of penetrating plate armor. Axes, meanwhile, distribute that force over a broader area. You'd never be able to hack through Late Medieval/Renaissance plate with one, even if getting hit with one wouldn't be a good time in the slightest.
>>
>>47290232

>To deal with high, heavy armor, what is better an axe or a mace?

A mace.

Maces were specifically built for dealing with heavy armor because they bash and rattle the person in the armor.

An Axe is still a bladed edged weapon that hacks away at something and heavy, thick, armor doesn't give a shit about edged things.

Everybody knows a defining trait of a Hero is a significant birth. Doesn't this strike anyone else as elitist? Especially in stories where it turns out the seemingly common hero has Noble liniage and so is the only one 'allowed' to save the kingdom? At best the idea that someone is born to succeed and you are not seems a bit Calvanist.
