>I can't fit cards into a box because the SJW'S have me triggered.
Honestly the SJW/anti-SJW is the Political/Religious argument on the internet all over again.

I mean, let's rephrase your answer like this:

Zero because I quit playing after MtG reached the atheistic tipping point and my FLGS turned into a godless den of Atheists.

Or the reverse:

Zero because I quit playing after MtG reached the Christianity tipping point and my FLGS turned into a church.

Do ever-present meta mechanics worsen an RPG experience for you?

Should PCs be mechanically special or unique simply because they are not NPC's? If so, does it cheapen the world if everyone at the table knows the other entities in the world are (mechanically speaking) cardboard cutout mooks as compared to the PCs?

Does drama superseding logic, or vice versa, cheapen the game experience for you?
If a PC dies, do you think it should always be appropriately dramatic or can you die from an otherwise nameless NPC with a gun given some bad luck and poor circumstance? Does that serve to enhance drama and achievement, or reduce the drama?

Do you prefer knowing the PCs are the 'big damn heroes' from the start, or should that be something found out in play in accordance with their actions and achievements or lack thereof?

Is it about telling a good story for you, or setting things up for a good story but then just seeing what happens in the fictional world even if it turns out badly?

Cause->effect influenced by logic, or drama?

Should drama be emergent and organic by default, without "safeties" to ensure its presence, or should the rules of drama be genre enforced by mechanics and table consensus to produce it intentionally?

I think metagaming as a concept needs to be reassessed in RPG culture. It was at one point pure heresy but yet when I got into OSR metagaming greases some of the gears to help it flow better because sometimes the game improves if you cut to the chase instead of playing out the parsing of information. Then we have games like Fate which are new hotness and which also involve a level of metagaming but in a different way.

Metagaming ultimately has a role in gameplay. Every RPG should factor it in rather than forbid it. What metagaming should do depends upon the game in question.
>>
>>50814101
Which type of metagaming is more palatable to you? OSR-style or Fate-style?
>>
>>50814145
OSR style metagaming is more easily applied to most RPGs because most RPGs are action-adventure games. Therefore

Fate style metagaming highlights elements of characters and scenes and encourages you to use them to your advantage. It was always in the back of any creative player's mind but once in the forefront of the game it feels so different. However, Fate metagaming can be carried over to other games once it is learned.

OSR metagaming lubes the machine of the game. If you stop lubing it up the game grinds and becomes a burden.

Fate metagaming changes some parts out. The machine runs differently, you need time to get used to it, but eventually you want to install those parts within other machines.

I think most players prefer OSR metagaming but I think Fate metagaming improves gameplay in the long run when it becomes an automatic creative process.

You boys might have seen this thread before.
Im making a quiz for new years eve, and I need suggestions. Can be any theme, but good questions are the one where the answer is super interesting, or is subject to discussion (its a group quiz)

These are the definite questions I have so far:
1. How many wives did Henry VIII have?
2. Which animal is the Canary Islands named after?
3. Whats Scottlands national animal?
4. Which movie studio is represented by a roaring lion?
5. Whats the youngest, UN-recognized country in the world?
6. Name a movie from 1990. Any movie (most people taking the quiz were born then)
7. When, on a normal, circular clock, the time is 3:15, how many degrees apart is the hour-marker and the minute-marker?
8. What is Dominican Republic Syndrome?

ooh, ooh, I know that one! That's when you're born a boy but you look like a girl, like, at the molecular level or some shit.

I'm never running a murder mystery ever again. At least not for morons.

When I wrote the thing I had fears that everything was just a bit too linear and that the clues were too obvious so I threw in some red herrings, obviously. I didn't think these players would obsess over these diversions as much as they do. It's been three sessions tracking down one dead end. Short of coming out and telling them out of character "You're looking for the wrong thing, idiots" I have made it as obvious as possible.

But I only made it worse. They took such obvious dead ends and my desperate attempts to return them to the first clue as further proof that they're on the right track, one of them proudly proclaiming "Okay, he's trying to distract us, so we're definitely getting somewhere". I have thrown up multiple dead ends their way, irrefutable proof that the suspects they're tracking down are innocent and that the evidence they have is complete crap, but they're adamant. In the meantime this killer is having a gay old time offing major NPCs without any repercussions.

I wouldn't even mind so much if one of the characters wasn't set up as being "the city's greatest detective". I told her to drop that aspect and that she should just make her character "a detective" in case of shit like this, but she's obsessed with Cumberbatch's Holmes and she won't rest until she plays a carbon copy of him.

Plus they're just making me bust my ass writing new material for these false leads. At this point I feel perfectly justified to tell them out of character that they're a bunch of rubes

Let some npc detective catch the culprit and have it on the news and radio and everywhere. Interviews of how he cracked the case. Maybe start slow, give some hints that this one dude is onto something.

But instead of just ridiculing your players, let their current investigation lead to the next adventure.

You can scrap any content your players didn't find out and reuse it later.

What is something you've always wanted to do in a campaign but have never experienced (I.E. kinds of dungeons, enemies, wondorous sights, etc.)? Also what is something you would do if you GMed? "If I were a GM" general I guess.

Greetings Guardsmen,

Today’s news comes from Cadia, where everything is fine, and where you’ll be redeployed to with immediate effect.

As many of you know, Cadia is the fortress world of the Cadian Gate - a shining bastion of light that stands sentinel over the best warp route for light-years around.

It watches over the Ocularis Terribus, also known as the Eye of Terror - so named as those inside are all terrified to turn their eyes towards the Imperium and Cadia, for fear of the righteous wrath that would fall upon them were the Imperium ever to deem them worthy of destruction.

Occasionally, particularly brave or foolish fleets have been known to tentatively spill from the Eye of Terror and then, in a panic, attack Cadia. To this date, they have never succeeded in breaching the iron defences of the world, and they never will.

We have recently received word that such a fleet is inbound to Cadia, likely another fragmentary rabble of degenerates and traitors. You are being shipped to Cadia, as such an invasion represents a unique chance to witness the glorious Cadian armed forces in battle, and not in any way because they need reinforcing.*

You are being sent there to witness and learn from such visionary commanders as, Lord General Troskzer, Knight Commander Pask, and maybe even the legendary Major Lord Castellan Creed. Over 1,000 other regiments, several Space Marine Chapters and a dozen Imperial Knight households will be joining you for this learning opportunity.

So, in summary. Everything is fine on Cadia. You’re being deployed there immediately, but that is great, because everything is fine and you might get to meet a Hero of the Imperium.

Thoughts for the Day:
'Cadia Stands! It will stand until the Eye burns cold.'
- Major Lord Castellan Creed**

*Though you will be required to take part in potentially deadly combat situations
**Paraphrased for dramatic effect.

Bane, also known as the Black Hand and the Black Lord, is the god of hatred, fear, and tyranny and one of the main evil gods in the fictional Dungeons & Dragons campaign setting, Forgotten Realms.

Bane is a Lawful Evil Greater Power whose symbol is green rays squeezed forth from a black fist, and whose divine realm is the Black Bastion in the Barrens of Doom and Despair. His Third Edition D&D domains are Evil, Destruction, Hatred, Law, and Tyranny.

Being a deity, he has no stats.

So you have this situation.

The Elf girl in your team adopted a Tiefling boy.

The boy seems to be a skilled thief since he actually managed to steal your team's Paladin's sword right under his nose and would've gotten away with it if it weren't for the girl.

The boy is also a street urchin, has no parents, lives in the slums, and resorted to stealing in order to survive. He's a nice kid, but the Elf is worried that if he keeps continuing what he's doing, then at one point he'll be no different from the stereotypical Tieflings. Hence why she adopted him.

What do you do in this situation?

Also post cute pics.
