Ehhhh. The way I figure it, neijia is an art in which you use your force of will to generate enough magical energy to do the clobbering. AIs and drones aren't able to interact with magic in that way normally.
Like a lot of these questions, the best answer is going to be 'ask your GM. If you're the GM, consider allowing it and review the rule later if it becomes a problemm'
So for one reason or another I am going to put an awakened axolotl into our next run.
What do you think would an awakened axolotl's shtick be and what critter powers it should have.
I am honestly drawing a bit of a blank her, other than "make it cute as hell"
>>50799354
But Drones don't really have any mental scores to draw upon. AI, on the other hand, do. I think if they're jumped into the drone directly(thus basically being one 'in soul' with the drone), it makes sense that they can smack it up. Frankly, I'd also allow it for riggers.
Friendly Virtual Gaming Thread - /fvgt/
Welcome to the Friendly Virtual Gaming Thread. Here we aim to be the FLGS of /tg/, finding free resources to make it easy for /tg/ users to jump right into traditional gaming, and
forming a small community around that. We also try to get various amounts of shit done, whether it's writing, homebrew, art, or whatever else deemed worthy of /tg/. Have a project? Come and pitch it to us. Don't have one? Come and shoot the shit with us anyway.
1. Check the PDF for the game
2. Post a request for a game, using the suggested resource, either here or in the Game Finder Thread
3. If there's a particular game you're looking for that we don't have a resource as of yet, let us know and we can work to expand our list.
4. Finally, hang around and chat. There's always some crazy project someone is Working on.
>Current Projects
-Pokemon Mystery Dungeon RPG
-Night Shift RPG
-Setting up a dedicated Xmage Server for the enjoyment of /tg/
-Dark Souls RPG
-/tg/ MUD Guild
-BattleBox3D resources.
-Various amounts of Art and Writing.
-Fading Embers
Well, Fading Embers has been one of the most successful projects we've done to date. In fact I got so busy with it I completely forgot to make this thread. Anyway, anyone got a new system or writefaggotry they want to share?
>>50773087
>Fading Embers has been one of the most successful projects we've done to date. In fact I got so busy with it...
Yep, that's been me too.
I have a couple other projects, some not directly /tg/ related, that got paused so I could draw me some bears.
I'm probably limited to phone posting for the next few days now, but I remain committed to the philosophy of this thread.
As well as supporting gamers and would-be gamers in their efforts to find online traditional games and resources, although my experience is somewhat lacking.
I've had a bit of an idea. After Fading Embers of course, but... Magic: The Wargame.
Bumping, lots of good ideas here I'd like to see expanded on.
/tg/, I need your help. I'm no stranger to TTRPGs, I've played in several campaigns before, but this right here is a first. I'm GMing for the first time. For a group of people who've never played TTRPGs before. Now, I invited these guys to try it because we're all in an Improv group together and they're amazing at acting and coming up with interesting stuff on the fly. Basically I feel that they're perfect roleplayer material. But this is my first real campaign that I'm GMing, and I'm nervous. So I guess I'm asking for tips and pitfalls to avoid when GMing for the first time.
It's a 3rd edition Mutants and Masterminds campaign, and the players are playing low-level (power level 8) supervillains. The plot is that they're all sharing a prison transfer van that's taking them to a newly established prison for supervillains that just got constructed in a high-tech city in another part of the country. An NPC present in the van tries to strike up a conversation, and mentions he's got contacts with what he says is the big hitter of the criminal underworld of this city. Once the van gets into the city, it gets upended by a monstrous kaiju-esque villain that's rampaging through the city, and the guards get incapacitated. So the party have a chance to escape, and the NPC offers to lend them a hand and get them settled. (Cont.)
(2/2) Once the party manage to get to the hideout of the crime boss, while avoiding the local heroes that are fighting the kaiju, the crime boss reveals that her group of villain henchmen just got bagged by the local heroes a few days back, and she's been needing some hired help for a plan to bust them out. She points out that, having just escaped from a prison van within city limits, the party is going to be the first on the shitlist of the local heroes. So if the party agrees, they'll get a place to stay for a while, some good pay, and the crime boss will run interference for them until they bust out her gang, at which point she'll be drawing more of a target than the party. So all in all, a good deal. Their first mission is to go retrieve the crime boss's assistant/tailor, who's been apprehended by a local small-time gang.
That's what I've got planned out so far. What should I keep in mind while doing prep, and while actually running this? I wanna make the best TTRPG experience possible for my group.
Okay, I'll bump this just once.
That is an awful lot of planning for an improv group.

You're not supposed to make a new thread before it falls off.
Rolled 23 (1d100)
Are we doing this again? Old thread isn't even dead yet.
Me and my my friend work together and our job is very boring. We can message eachother through this little chat app that everyone fucks around on, so we play chess sometimes by making a chess board on each of our notepads and labeling it 1-8 a-h.
My questions is, what other games can we play to pass the time by through these same means? Notepad + Messenger. All suggestions welcome.
ITT..... how to never be promoted ever ever ever at work.

What game is this?
It looks like a hex and chit wargame, but there are a lot of them about and none of the units are super distinctive.
Zooming in on the tank visible it's a Hetzer, so probably a WWII hex and chit game. But that doesn't really narrow it down much.
Looks like Advanced Squad Leader

What's the most broken single unit in the game?
What is the most broken combination of units in the game?

Assassins (they cut out the hashish though)
Wizards/Sorcerers are based on Zoroastrian mystics if I'm not mistaken
Duelists, in whatever editions they're present, often seem to be Three Muskteers-esque swashbuckling, charming rogues
>>50817400
Wasn't Berserker rage and running around naked a more Germanic thing? The Gauls were considered semi-civilized and the Franks were the most gigantic Romaboos around, to the point where Charlemagne quite literally went WE WUZ ROMANS 'N SHIET.
What are some good cheap miniatures for D&D and other grid games?
Also what do you use for large hordes of mooks, I've been thinking bingo or poker chips?
I usually use those small glass beads you can buy in large quantity in craft stores for my horde fights. as for miniatures the cheapest I know of are reaper minis.
>>50816672
I've found some decent Ebay lots that let you pick a certain amount of points worth of minis.
If you don't mind off brand, you might check estate sales, garage sales, and thrift/antique stores. I've seen some there.
As far as large hordes, I usually get a box of small d6's. That way if it's big enough, one die can represent six mooks, or start representing health.
I do feel that the miniatures are too expensive.
>>50817164
Where do people just randomly find estate sales? I've never seen one.
So I'm rather new to the tabletop scene (I've GMed Star Wars D20, a homebrew elder scrolls system, and a Pathfinder game, none of which were properly finished due to reasons and the Pathfinder game is still going on) and I'm admittedly a very, /very/ shit GM. Not asking for a guide here, but anyone got tips they picked up over time to help a new GM? I already know to plan ahead of time (but not too far), but anything helps.
Pic unrelated, just a grippli I thought was cool.
>>50816193
Pick a good system that helps you (learn to) GM instead of working against you every step of the way, which is what the systems you listed do.
Ryuutama and Apocalypse World are the best GMing tutorials I know of.
>>50816438
Many thanks, I will check this out! Already read to 17 and I'm liking it.
>>50816594
I didn't know this was even a factor. Although, I will say that those systems are rather convoluted and redundant for no good reason. I'll look into this.
Who was the villain of this story?
>>50814921
You, for making this thread in the first place.

The Potion Seller.
The Knight clearly understood the risk of the strongest potions, and should have been allowed to buy them.
What are some equivalents to Roll20, in the sense that they can be used to find and possibly even host online games? I've had some good luck with Roll20, but it's been very limited. I feel as if I'd get more bites if I diversified my platforms a bit.
>>50814907
Fantasyground?
Roll20 is definitely the biggest. Might not even be worth looking for another platform.
>>50814907
Honestly, Roll20 is the most easily accessible VTT (ya know, being free and all). You could do something like Tabletop Simulator, but that's got a higher barrier to entry and it's a lot more work on the DM.
Best of luck in your search, though.
>>50814907
As a platform for hosting, I've been increasingly liking maptools.
