What sort of physical enhancements should an exo suit be able to perform?
What kind of weapons would one have?
Should exo suits provide interesting movement abilities?
The physical appearance of the kind of exo suit in question would be like pic related. Armored but exposed in many areas, twenty-first century technology, and no jetpacks.
>>50780475
>Armored but exposed in many areas, twenty-first century technology, and no jetpacks.
Basically they can lift heavy things, resulting in more gunbangbullets. But pretty much any residue is going to fuck it up, and there's not really much need for really heavy guns.
Also maintenance goes through the roof.
But because it looks good on paper and on display, it's funded and distributed with soldiers finding excuses to not use it and rely on practical and light body armor and rifles.
The basic technology behind it continues to find more practical use as a wearable forklift in warehouses and logistics. It's most useful function is lifting pallets with other exo-suits on.
>>50780475
>What sort of physical enhancements should an exo suit be able to perform?
They should provide at least enough enhanced strength to knock aside smart cars while running. Maybe take a note out of the hulkbuster armor and have piston fists.
What kind of weapons would one have?
Gauntlet or wrist mounted machine guns at a minimum, even better if they have an absurd firing rate. Energy weapons could also be a possibility. Some sort of extending weapon thingy with explosive projectiles is also a must.
Should exo suits provide interesting movement abilities?
Enhanced jumps. Mini-rockets on the joints to turn a side-step into a 20ft slide. Two modes where one is combat and the other is travel so the person inside could run at speeds over 100 kph.
>>50780475
>What sort of physical enhancements should an exo suit be able to perform?
When two or three individuals with these suits work together they should be able to lift a standard sized car over their heads with ease. This allows for the creation of rapid fortifications. That said, it should also allow them to carry things like shields that can resist small armos fire or even rifle fire (if only for a short time maybe.
>What kind of weapons would one have?
Weapons normally intended for vehilce mounts or ones you would have to anchor in place to use. As stated previously, shields that can resist most small armos and could possibly be used to create fortifications as well.
>Should exo suits provide interesting movement abilities?
Nothing beyond what humans would normally be capable of but if you have a way to cushion the fall from a height that would obviously severly injure/kill someone that would be a major boon as far as possible ways of moving through obsticals and being inserted into theater of operation.
Hey M/tg/
So I am looking at MTG frontier,
Mostly looking at what are the chase rares that one should be picking up, to get into this format.
Frontier General as well I suppose.
>>50775866
What about a format where every card printed after M15 is legal- including supplementary sets?
>>50775969
Then Eternal and Modern Masters just fuck the whole thing
If WOTC makes Frontier official. Would you rather it be from M15 or Origins?
Welcome to the thread for d20 station, a rules light, medium RP Space Station 13 server.
>What is Space Station 13?
It's a 2D top down atmospherics simulator with who dun it gameplay layered on top. Each crew member aboard the station has a specific job to perform, while a select few are selected to be traitors (assassin/spy/thief).
>Why is this on muh /tg/?
d20 is a server made for fa/tg/uys by fa/tg/uys
>How do I play?
You'll need to download the BYOND client.
BYOND Download link: http://www.byond.com/download/
A BYOND account is HIGHLY recommended
To connect: Open BYOND, click the gear in the upper right. Click "Open Location" and paste in the IP below (Visual guide: http://i.imgur.com/d9D82fK.jpg).
byond://76.16.8.127:28014 OR byond://d20station.ddns.net:28014
>I'm new, and I don't know what the fuck to do. How do I swap hands?
Use OOC (backspace say" in the bottom, type OOC and hit enter, or: http://i.imgur.com/RodAGGZ.png), which means Out Of Character chat, and ask someone for help on how to play. People will almost always help you get a grip of the game if you're polite about it, just don't reveal too much in-round information in OOC.
There's also wikis dedicated to documenting the spaceman way of life, but they vary widely from server to server.
>What are the rules?
The rules are very relaxed and admins try to take a hands-off approach to administrating. Admins will generally only intervene if someone is explicitly playing to ruin the game. Reminder to read the rules in-game.
>What map/code do you run?
We run a heavily modified Ministation map with mostly custom code. Most jobs on Ministation are merged with similar counterparts and head roles have been re-enabled.
>When does everyone play?
The server is mostly populated with Americlaps, so peak times are usually between 7pm-3am EST
>Who are these tripfags?
Usually admins/coders for the server.

CONFESSIONS THREAD:
D&D is a piece of shit and the d20 is garbage for everything except die rolls where extreme variance is a benefit. A single d20 roll is almost entirely unsuited when dealing with tasks in which someone demonstrates competence.
Despite this, I still run D&D because I'm familiar enough with the shittiness of the system because I can kludge it into something resembling playability.
I have a secret to ppl who dont like d20's. Roll 3d6 instead.
Done.
Does not fix dnd tho, but its atleast better than using d20
By "confession" you mean hackneyed expression of an incredibly common sentiment on /tg/?
These threads are always good and the in-depth discussion is top notch.

What do you know of this system? Who's played it?
There's been a couple campaigns run in the past, and everyone seemed to love it.
>>50744012
I've watched a group play this online and it looked really delightful. Probably a fun time to play with a group that's willing to go in for the proper tone. Would play.

It is the only one just for me.
Are there any good Fallout TTRPGs, and for that matter, what would you recommend?
And if not, any tips on making my own?
I feel like a fallout TTRPG could work well, since the originals were based off of TTRPG systems at the time. If I were to just take the base info from Fallout 1 itself, and try to convert it into a TTRPG, how well would that work?
What would I need to change, or even borrow from other TTRPGs?
Something about the special system, Fallout's skills, and just the general universe of Fallout makes me think it would make for an ok TTRPG, if a little unorthodox.
shameless self bump
Look up a forum called No Mutants Allowed.
My bro has a savage hard on for fallout, there's good shit there as I understand it.
>>50807822
Yeah, googled fallout TTRPG, and it linked me there, but I couldn't find any hint of a TTRPG.
I am the group GM and I started a game that originally was going to be very darkest dungeon/ darksouls like, but no plan survives contact with the PCs and they don't exactly play to the haunting and depressing tune I set out for them.
I don't mind that too much, I mean, not everyone enjoys being miserable and would rather have fun and make merry during game night. But ever since the inception the endgame would be tragic and awful for the pc's. Sure they might complete the campaugn goal, but the cost would ruin them utterly.
So my question is, should I go with my original plan of a tragic end OR should I bend more towards the big damn hero winds of the PCs and give them their good ends?
>>50806874
>not going for a "ultimately, you did it for the future of X"-ending.
>>50806983
I don't understand the reference, sorry.
Not English or USAian
Ultimately it's up to you. We don't know your players, you do.
However, there is a third possibility here. Alter the existing ending in such a way the tone isn't completely lost, but still can allow for heroism.
Your job as DM is to enable the player's fun, but it should not come at the expense of your own.
Fuck AoS give us more 40k GW! Edition.

Second for Black Templars
Can you help me find a passage in the Ahriman books where Ctesias appearance (wargear etc) is described? I think there was something in Dead Oracle but I cant ctr-f it. Thank you anon!
Uncle Bilbo, I was reading your story, There and Back Again, and I had a few questions.
You say that you gave a shriek "like an engine coming out of a tunnel". What's an engine?
And that Gandalf, when you were grabbed by goblins in the High Pass, gave off a smell "like gunpowder". I assume it's related to the "drums and guns" that Beorn sounded like when he came to the Battle of Five Armies, but what are they?
And why did you keep making digressions about our people that everyone knows, and address these segues like you're talking to one of the Big People?
Reminder that the original There and Back Again was purported to be written in Hobbit, and that Tolkien was acting as translator. There were bound to be some idioms that did not translate well to english, and so he replaced them with something that made sense. Frodo would never have been able to read the translation in the first place, so the questions are moot.
>>50806402
You could arguably use that for idiomatic expressions, but some of them (such as names of foodstuffs that would only be discovered in the Colombian exchange, albeit only applicable in the original edition) can't really work along those lines.
Plus, the narrator's digressions identifying the narrator as a human don't seem to be something that is possible just because of translation drift, unless you want to argue that Tolkien "changed" the meaning quite a lot.
>>50806504
It's happened before. Translators often put their own spin on things. Look at different editions of Arabian Nights, for example. Also, the Red Book of Westmarch changed hands many, many times, so there's bound to be some idiosyncrasies in there which Tolkien no doubt had to work around.
How to you deal with the Fullmetal alchemist Homunculi?
Hell how would you even stat them in standard tabletop rules.
>>50805147
>How to you deal with the Fullmetal alchemist Homunculi?
Don't. Stop trying to shove anime into your tabletop games.
>Standard
>Tabletop
>Rules
Well how you would stat them would fucking depend on the system in question, now wouldn't it?Brotherhood was ass; a manga's pacing and comedic timing should not be adapted to an anime 1:1.
>>50805147
>standard tabletop rules
D'n'Dee?
How much experience do your characters need to reach the next level?
Do you set things up so characters reach each level after roughly the same amount of time?
Do you make it so each level is a little harder? How much harder?
Do you let players level up in the middle of a dungeon, or only once they get back to town? Do you require teachers?
>>50804709
>2016
>Almost 2017
>Still using experience points
Man, fuck experience points, I just give my players level ups when they complete big story moments or plot arcs. It cuts down on book-keeping math and helps quell the part of the murderhobo mentality that says you need to KILL EVERYTHING to level up faster.
>>50804957
But what if I had the crazy idea of NOT GIVING THEM XP for fighting monsters unless the monsters directly threatened them in some way.
No xp for shopkeepers. No xp for hunting down a lone orc if you're 3 points from level 7
bits of XP for monsters the party didn't set out to fight, who wear them down as they pass through the wilderness or dungeon.
Good xp for beating a dungeon, looting the treasure and escaping safely. This should allow them to bypass the monsters.
Larger xp for beating specific legendary monsters or large scale quests, such as the search for a parrot's tear.
But hey, you do you. I just find it easier to give consistant story related levelups if I have some arbitrary way to track x;, instead of having to make a judgement call every time. Plus, this way, I can give a player a few xp for things such as good roleplaying, working well with others, or being the scribe for tonight's game.
>>50804709
5.
That's impossible.
No.
Wherever they are. No.
Can we assume that games plant 'seeds' in those who play them, and that these 'seeds' sprout later in life?
No. Personality isn't actually all that malleable.
>>50804665
I mean, sure you can describe influence in a poetic fashion like that, but no, you can't assume it.
>>50804665
I'll plant my 'Seed' in you anon, if you know what i mean

Have you ever encountered an ideology that needed to be snuffed out? What do you do when confronted with ideas, thoughts, and modes of worship that strangle society? Do you embrace them and hasten entropy? Do you fight against them? Do you watch and laugh from the sidelines?
Tell me your tales of cultural struggle.
Is it possible to play a character who is an asshole without being 'that guy'?
>>50804574
You can be an asshole. Just don't be an asshole with no common sense.
>The king tells you that he has a noble quest, one to finally cement your status as a Knight of the Realm. You must find...
>The king can go fuck himself. He's nothing but an old, drunk, sisterfucking bastard.
>...
>What? It's what my character would do!
If you're going to be an asshole, ask yourself, 'Will this result in a total party kill? Would I do this in real life? Why am I doing this?'
I feel it just like making an asshole character without said character being unlikable
>>50804574
Your character can be really lazy and dumping all the hard work on the rest of the party, which is asshole but because the other players aren't going to get tired by having their character use a shovel for 8 hours, they won't mind.
Your character can also be really selfish, but happen to benefit from the rest of the party, so your shared interests makes you less of an asshole with them.
Try to avoid anything that fucks over their wishes and roleplay anything that won't be actually bothersome if it is only in the imagination. Say, if my character punches yours (but not for damage), there is no reason for the player to be angry about it even if his character is.
You can also make up for the times you do take a dump on your party by helping the other players with that they want for their characters with yours, even if you do so by giving your character a selfish reason to do so.
