Do you like noise in certain photos? How do you think noise/grain can be used to make a picture better or worse?

Yes, I like. Noise is ok, but that color noise on that picture is awful...
>>2885673
ya, there was literally almost no color in the clouds so I just sort of fucked the vibrance until there was
I think noise is a lot more acceptable than most people generally do. I feel that as years go on digital noise will start to be appreciated the same way film grain is. Its a sort of natural artifact of the process that affects the image in a way that is distinct from human vision.
I really need the image taken off this jpeg and put on an actual png background , any one got the skills for that?
Vape nash brah

First things first: Read the fucking sticky you illiterate degenerate cunt.
Second, even though you are too fucking lazy to read a simple few words before posting, I'll give you some basic advice.
Photos are interesting because of the subject, not because of post processing. Processing can enhance a good photo, but it can't make a boring photo more interesting. You want your photos to be interesting? Take interesting photos.
>>2885523
The artificial noise in this image is cancer-inducing
>>2885535
I read the sticky and thought this was allowed? Im guessing "recent photo threads" are the proper place to ask for advice?
Thanks for yours, anyways. I'll keep it in mind.
Ok what is the cheapest dslr camera for video recording? My D700 just died today and video has been missing from my life.

Should I continue with art school with a photo major, or switch to computer information technology?
What kind of stuff could I look for right out of college? Would it be more stable to get a computer job and do photography in my free time?
Have any of you gone to art school? Do you feel like you got value out of it?
Sorry if this gets asked a lot but I have 6 weeks until my second year starts and I would like to hear any and all opinions. Thank you.
Do you enjoy it? It sounds like you've made up your mind. I'd quote that Sartre thing about a student choosing about war and his mother but I'm going to passively aggressively reference it instead
RE: jobs - research it.
did a film major myself and it was a big waste of time.
90% of what I learned was from actually going out and making short films with friends, and just analyzing films in my free time.
trust me, if you're paying big bucks to go to school, at least make sure the degree is worthwhile. You could always just walk in to the lectures you want to learn from with good professors.
>>2885024
I honestly haven't lurked enough to know if /p/ is pro or anti art school, so I am really not sure what advice I'm going to get here.
Photography has been an interest of mine since early high school, in which I was very involved in it, but some people / websites / articles make a BFA seem like a death wish, so I was trying to see if anyone here has gone through it.
I feel like I did a bad thing....
I've been to events and protests with a long lens and always jokingly said that I hope that shit would kick off and I could get a photo that would make national newspapers, but of course it never did. However today I passed by a traffic collision and had my gear on me (new self resolution) and straight away pushed forward and snapped away. The fireman asked me who I was with, and he let me continue when I said I'm freelancing.
But then on the way home before I sent them to my local newspaper, I started feeling... really bad. Some guys obviously thought I was an opportunistic asshole, and in a way I can't deny it. What are your thoughts on this /p/? If I hadn't been first at the scene, someone else would have been there anyway right?
Nah. You're good. Just don't think about it too much. If the fireman let you snap some pics then you weren't being an asshole.
>>2884905
Don't feel bad about it, do what you love
>>2884905
Someone needs to document these tragedies. People need to see more real shit like car accidents so that they understand what its really like. In short, don't feel bad. You did you're community a service.
Hi guys. How Do you get photos to look like this? Ligthroom? Photoshop? Or is it just the camera+lens?

well he's starting with great images right out of the camera because he's using a full frame mark II with 50mm 1.2 glass.
Then it looks like he used VCSO or some other filter in Lightroom to get the muted colors / vintage look.
Doesn't hurt that he's got some great automotive subjects willing to patiently model for him, either.
I would like to hear your opinions about my photography.
I am a beginner
>>2884712
just boring
shooting in broad daylight is rarely a good idea for a beginner
I am a beginner also so I doubt my opinion means much but I like this photo very much.
>>2884712
There's not really anything good about it from a technical standpoint. It draws my eyes down the path for a second and leads my eyes to.. nothing. There's not a real subject so it has pretty much zero visual interest. The buildings in the corner are unnecessary and should have been cropped out. Also there is tons of green in the trees that is so bright that it almost hurts my eyes to look at. Maybe if it wasn't so bright and lacking in detail you could have said you were going for the color but thats not what you did. Next time you want to upload your snapshits to /p/ put them in a recent photo thread so that they don't take up space on the board where (theoretically) more important threads should be. Search "RPT" (without quotes) and you should find a recent photo thread.
have some snapp

I see a lot of shots from the zoo that are framed in a way that you would think the sumbitch was crawling through to savannah on his stomach to sneak up on lions and gerafs and shit, so from that I take it that a picture from the zoo can be improved my making it look like it was not taken at a zoo.

Looks a bit underexposed.
Also, perhaps you could experiment with shutter speeds to get a bit of blur, suggesting the awesome power of the giraffe rectum and giving a feeling of speed and urgency to the feces, frantically plummeting down to seed the earth.
