longer lens so you wouldn't have had to crop the living hell out of it.
Waited for better light, waited for something exciting to happen, composed it in a way using other elements to make it more interesting.
It nothing special and there's nothing I can see that you could have done to make it better. It's a picture that shouldn't have been taken in the first place if the goal is photographic merit.

Okay so i wanna make a kinda "found footage film" because im going camping in the woods with some friends, and think it could be fun.
i Have a Nikon D5500, a 230 LED light and a Rode mini shotgun mic. I think i sould be able to get some decent shots with all this. but i was wondering if anyone would give me som tips og how i can make the movie look better with out breaking the found footage illusion?
and please, i know found footage is overused and many people think its dumb, but this is just a fun project and im looking for some tips and tricks. Thank you.
>>2892091
Just watch some found footage on youtube. You'll see the style you need do copy.
Hope you know how to edit the footage properly.
>>2892091
>just a fun project
then just be yourself
Make it a 90s inspiration found film. Be sure you all dress up the part and emphasize the decade correctly. Get a used Hi8 tape camera and film on it.
I want to start vlogging on the go, 720p is fine enough for my video quality.
What kind of set up am I looking at?
Figure I need
>Bendy Tripod?
>attachment to tripod
>wide angle lens
>camera
>SD cards
>battery packs?
>backpack for camera stuff
Let's say i've got like $650, is there any set up I can do for a 720p vlog camera set up?
>>2891885
Honestly? Gopro and a handheld gimbal.
Not sure why you want a wide angle....?
I need advice on a camera that is really good for filming 1080p 60fps video (bonus if 4K), and under $800. I'd also like at least a 24mm or wider lens. It has to have auto-focus during video and manual exposure control.
I have a Nikon D600 & D5300 for stills and I love Nikon for photos, but I'm going to be shooting some POV adult scenes, and need a good camera for video that has auto-focus.
I'm looking at the Canon G7 X Mark II, but waaay open to suggestions as I'm not up to date on what is good for video these days.

I used that for a while and was fairly happy with the quality, but the sensor left a bit to be desired. I'd also like something a bit larger so it's easier to stabilize.

Hey /p/ so I'm going on a trip to Australia and I'm planning on doing scuba diving and I really wanna get some good underwater shots and videos but I dont want to have to pay $1000+ just to get underwater housing and I dont trust to put my (fairly expensive) dslr in a $30 camera bag.
What should I do?
Are there any good waterproof cameras out there that arent shitty $100 video cameras?
Where could I buy solid underwater housing for a decent price?
Please help. Thanks in advance
Not getting a lot of feedback here, Anon. No luck finding online reviews? I always get ads then have to ask a specialist anyway.
if youre trying to stay cheap its better to go mirrorless. Sony nex's /a6000s are what I normally use but olympus is a good way to go too.
Theres a cheaper line of housings by a company called neewer, you can find them for a variety of cameras on amazon for ~200 bucks. add that to a sony nex 5/6/7 for 200 to 500 bucks and you have a decent rig for like half a grand. Better to lose a 150 dollar camera than your slr.
If you're planning on taking it anywhere past 30 feet you'll need some external lights too, as it gets pretty difficult even with those cameras really good low-light handling.(if visibility is good you might be able to get away with no flash if you use the overhead light properly) Sea and sea makes strobes you can trigger with on camera flash and a fiber optic, for around 300.
Honestly though anon the newer gopros take great video and stills are good too provided youre not making large prints or anything.
A local shopowner who I am close with is an avid diver and underwater photographer. He showed me his rig, and it's intense. Rigid housing for a full size SLR with a fast wide zoom in it and both strobe and continuous light options.
He's done some insanely cool stuff - but it's expensive. He rents or borrows from friends.
You might be better served chatting with local dive shops or contacting bloggers, etc. that specifically focus on underwater stuff. Based on what you're doing you may need lighting and that gets complicated.
For snapshots at snorkel depths, a point and shoot underwater camera will get you ok but disappointing vacation shots. I have a little Sony P&S.
Ok, I know you guys like showing off.
Let's get this going.
>>2890046
I'm perfectly content with only covering the 28mm to ~85mm spectrum. Primes obviously. I've had lenses as wide as 16mm and as long as 400mm but have sold them and simplified my kit down to what it is now.
Generally shoot landscape.
>>2890076
I like a prime at 50mm and 20mm respectively and a zoom for 70-300mm.
Then again, i don't do modeled or scripted stuff. Mostly going out "into the wild" and looking for opportunities
Samyang 14mm f/2.8
Canon 16-35mm f/2.8L II USM
Canon 50mm f/1.4 USM
Canon 24-70mm f/2.8L II USM
Canon 70-200mm f/2.8L IS II USM
And no further than that because my bag is already heavy enough.
Hello, there. This is my first thread, sorry if there is any rule that I don't respect. I got a Rollei infrared 400 film and a Cokin 89B filter (IR) and I want to try some infrared photography. Any advice? I am using a Canon EOS 5 at this moment. Thanks
>>2890016
My advice is to post stupid film questions in the film thread, but also to not use IR film in an EOS 5.
Read this page:
http://photonotes.org/articles/eos-ir/
>>2890097
I doubt an EOS camera with IR sensors would fog Rollei film. It was a problem with Kodak HIE, but that film had much higher sensitivity at the top of its IR range than anything currently shipping.
Don't bet an important shoot on it, but it's worth a test roll to find out.
>>2890991
Hey thanks for bumping this shit thread retard, but if you'd read the article I linked, you'd see it said the same thing.
Why are people paying up to $500 for this meme?

The real answer is Terry Richardson.
It's pretty nice but for that price I'd rather just get the contax t2 since I prefer that 38/2 sonnar
That being said I'm a hopeless contax fanboy since the 45mm planar on the g2 is just heaven
Ricoh gr1v never
I think there's lots of better stuff for the price and people buy those because while they are really good they're certainly getting harder and harder to find
posting some recent shots, making new thread because I'm gonna shoot a lot in the upcoming weeks and the last thread was getting kinda cluttered

Sony is better. Canons are pretty much meme cameras. You don't need underwater housing, just use gallon size ziplock bags and double bag it
>>2891164
Thank you! Will it work with zip bags? Need to try it then!
I looked into the viewfinder of an old Pentax ME film SLR at a thrift store today, and was completely blown away. It was HUGE and very bright. Filled my entire field of view. Never seen anything like it even on high end dslrs. Why can't they make viewfinders like that today, would be a big selling point imo?
>>2890956
Because there's no need to. Framing and compatibility with small aperture lenses is more important. Welcome to the autofocus era. The best you'll see are the prisms on the early Nikon Fs. F4, F100, etc.
Because live view.
Check the EVF on a7 series Sonys and be blown away.
