Good for you OP. Being able to sell gear to buy new gear without putting in additional $$$ is the best. I've gone through 3 camera kits that way.

> Be noob photog
> Take my camera to social events to do snapshits, friend of mine(who is crazy about working out) notices
> Asks me if i can take a couple of pictures for him

This is going to be my first photo shoot, so i am very unexperienced. I know how to operate a camera in M mode, but that's about it. I don't know the setting, if i had to guess i'd say either his gym or somewhere outside.

Gear:
Sony a6000
Sony 18-55 3.5-5.6
Minolta 50 1.8
Old tripod from my mom (lel)
Lightroom

So can you give me some tips on how to do this?

> Which lens do i use? The Minolta provides better bokeh, but getting the focus exactly right won't be easy (despite using peaking and focus magnifier). The 18-55 is more versatile and has auto focus and image stabilization, but close to zero shallow depth of field.

> How to expose?

> Tips on composing and framing?

> General do's don'ts?

>Which lens do i use?
What do you want to achive? Do you need bokeh for that, if yes chose the Minolta. Do you need auto focus and image stabilization even if you have a tripod? Then take the Sony. I doubt that you will need it though, you are in a shooting environment, you have all the time in the world to operate with a tripod and manual focus.

> How to expose?
Correctly.

> Tips on composing and framing?
Spend all day looking at portraits of sports people, there are a lot of very good pictures in a Sports Illustrates. Create your own thing out of the pictures you've seen, take inspiration.

>>2890772
>> General do's don'ts?
Act like you knew what you were doing. Don't let him have control of the shooting, always be in charge even if you know you are just as insecure as he is. This is a new environment for both of you. And remember: you took a job that is basically you taking pictures of him for his Tinder.
>>
>>2890772

1. Resize picture
2. Consider SQT
3. If you really do not understand what is happening and why to your pictures consider asking a pro to help you or go to a workshop.
4. Read up on how the physics of the camera work. Do you really understand the relationship between shutter, ISO and apeture?
5. Throw yourself in the deep end and take a lot of pictures for a bit and don't care about failure. One of the advantages of digital is you don't have to worry about processing costs so you can shoot a lot of errors and go back though the EXIF data and see aperture, ISO, shutter speed. As well as focus points white balance and focal distance.

If all of this fails you really have to get someone to help you out. Not just a friend, not just someone you like the pictures of. Someone who really knows how to use cameras preferably someone who has done studio work as they often know the technical side of photography very well.

I just got a camera after i've been inspired by all the amazing photos i see everywhere. This is my favourite from my first day as a photographer. is close up photos a thing? Thoughts about this photo? i want to be able to take landscape photos aswell.is a wide lens needed or can i work with what i have already?

i'm happy for all the feedback i can get.

Do you still have a photo laying around from your first day?

I like that bit of green coming out of the crack. the super close up shots are macro. You don't need a wide lens for that but it can have great results with different angles. f/20+ is perfect for landscape to have everything in focus

I think you can getto a macro lens by buying a converter and flipping the lens backwards

Why a go pro and why a significantly more expensive phone? The go pro will take better pictures and video but why cuck yourself when you have the budget to get a decent camera which shoots far better video and pictures than both of those.

Post from a thread on /b/, OP didn't respond to anything.

Does anyone here do this? Can someone even explain what this faggots is talking about? (what's special about getting a hired model to go naked, and if he means random girls, how do you just get them naked for shoots?) Also, what is this "style" supposed to be?

>"Ok, I need to confess. I am an amateur photographer and I've managed to build a decent portfolio over the last year with a style that girls love.
>So now, whenever I have a photo session I tell the girls that is mandatory to be completely nude while I do the beauty shot part of the session, astonishingly, they invariably comply.

>Being nude is completely unnecessary as the shots are face closeups, but I dont care about that.

>I work with both professional models and regular girls. So now whenever I like a girl, I just look her up on facebook, invite her to do a photo shoot, and after a brief explaining of the process, they show up at my studio for their shoots. Seems like pretty girls love to have pictures taken. "

So recently I shot a free show with a bunch of small local bands. Wasn't a paid gig or anything, i just showed up and got some shots. Now i'm at a loss of what to do with the pics. Do I just send them to the groups? Right now I really just wanna try to get my foot in the door, not angling for cash with this (especially since it was a free show).
