Any war photographers here? Or anyone with that aspiration? I'm starting University in September to study Photojournalism, plan to go straight to a war zone to take photographs as soon as I finish.
When I say "go to a war zone" I mean for example go to Kurdistan and embed with rebels fighting against ISIS
Calm down anon!!
This is a amazing kind of photojournalist, but you will need more than a camera and a university to it! tactical training, exercises, 'endorsers', and this. And a lot of things university won't give you either. Going this raw to warzones will only get you killed!
where you live have riots? start with that! few years covering riots and idiots bashing each other is a nice way to get a notion for what it was to cover people killing each other.
ps.: you're going to be a target.
>pic related
AFP hired two youngers to it's 'war photojournalism', they almost killed others photojournalists and ended getting into the statistics.
we should stop calling them war photographers and start calling them death paparazzi
>>2876838
I've been covering protests for a few years, the one time we had riots I was abroad, I'm from London.
Post recent photos here, try to critique at least one photo for each one you upload. This almost never works but no one needs a thread full of pictures with no helpful critique.

Another month, another thread.
Not very happy with this months snaps, but such is life. It's going to be even more bloggy than usual, so if that triggers you, feel free to hide the thread. Since I'm first making a thread I'm not going to limit myself either, so there will be an abundance of photos.

Hey everyone. I'm new to photography, I take mostly pictures of beer and use said pictures for reviews of said beer. I need to get some lighting rigged up. Any recommendations? I took this earlier using my nikon d3300 settings: 1/30 f 5.6 iso 1600 with a kit 18-55mm asf nikkor lense. Also a general critique of the picture would be appreciated.

improve your background, it looks like you put the beer bottle on the floor behind your couch. this look is accentuated by the perspective from below the center of the bottle, which is very unnatural.
don't blur the top of the bottle
there are some serious noise problems in your postprocess, especially noticeable over the glass
work to get the bottle looking clean. the condensation is good, the wrinkled smudged label is not. you could e.g. try to pick a good one at the store.
you can do plenty of things with studio lighting to make this picture pop and make it more like an advertisement, if that's what you want to go for
http://www.bron.ch/broncolor/how-to/shoot-this-photo/samplephotos/
for a review that picture's totally serviceable though

Disposable camera shots from the early 2000s will become the next vaporwave aesthetic.
Discuss.
They already were like two or three years ago. Get with it.
>>2878933
No because drugstores charge 12$ usd for them and most photographers just use an olympus xa or some shit with film in it
I've known lomography enthusiasts that have used expired disposable cameras for years
The only trend in terms of photography i can see happening in vaporwave is mid-early 2000s digital compact photography which *gasp* people are already doing "ironically"

Those old shitty point and shoots give the worst pictures imaginable.
The only worse cameras are ones on flip phones.
Every smartphone these days takes far better pictures than those point and shoots. They have like a $0 value.
Did an engagement shoot on Sunday that I'm particularly fond of.

I love manual focus and wish I had a Leica q since its real focus, and not "by wire"
The viewfinder on it is better than real life. My gr focuses nicely; I'm quite happy with it, especially after seeing that IQ is better than x70.
>>2870338
Nah, it's pretty great.
>>2870338
Depends.
I've decided to shoot on some extremely old film. The rolls I have are from about 1989. Does anyone have any good shots from similar experiments.
Even better what is your best guess as to how much I should derate it /p/?
That film is expired bro, it's useless.
That is unless it was stored 150ft under solid bedrock in a cryogenic chamber.
I shot some Kodak Gold from 1997 (as a test film on a Minolta Dynax 9xi, I usually use HP5). When processed it ended up black and white, but with no contrast, or detail.
>>2880306
Don't listen to this guy. You won't likely get any kind of "good" result. But it's fun to play around with. Maybe the fucked up results are what you are looking for.
Try overexposing about two stops and developing normally, expect color shifts and grain.
Enjoy!

Hey, /p/.
An older and more expirienced photographer told me to do a series of photos so I decided to do some photo series of my home and my family. I feel like this short series captures the current situation pretty well. I tried to have fun while making it and also put some thought into the images and why I took them the way I did.

those are shit, are you shot it on some expired fujicolor with plastic lens camera? cos it looks like that.
first of all, you have to make your subjects appealing, and with zero composition, outoffocus snapshits you actually achieve exact opposite.
you didn't even take an effort to straighten the photos, you lazy dipshit
read more about photography, buy more gear, shoot less.
Welcome to /p/, newfag
>>2879369
>Zero composition
Where are you even seeing this? These images clearly have common features in how they are composed. I don't care about the rest of your critique because of how mad it made me but you have to admit the images are composed in a certain way. I had a clear idea in mind when shooting.
cool idea, and it's always nice to see someone on /p/ actually working on their own project, but this lacking so much, OP. technically speaking execution is poor, and there is too little depth - it's too short and random of a series to give the viewer any interesting information about your home and your family, to me this just looks like a few random snapshots you took at home and put together to be honest. try to add more to it man.
also, did you have any intention whatsoever when you pair images together in sets of twos?
How do I take photos like this? Can I use my entry-level D3300 and photoshop?
