You will never take a picture like this
Seriously, though how likely was is it that it was staged?
Extremely
Well you can see that the silhouette was wiped away by hand and also his footprints where he walked the bike up to and across the wall.

Anyone experienced with music photography?
How do you get into it with no portfolio/how do you find local bands that won't care about you being there?
What settings(esp ISO) do you usually stick to assuming a dark indoor venue?
I'm planning on bringing my dslr to a smallish concert tonight, even tho the venue/promoter said they couldn't give permission. Any tips on sneaking some guerrilla shots from the crowd or wherever I can stay inconspicuous?
Much appreciated guys

if it's a local band just take your camera
they aren't going to care
or
they're vain because they like being on stage and want pictures of themselves
every venue is different, take the iso as high as you need to eliminate camera shake while keeping the aperture as open as possible.
there really isn't anything else to it

Tonight is a smallish act touring the US. ~500 person capacity, sold out.
Any solid ways to get the camera+lens past the doors? Pockets don't seem big enough and a back would raise suspicion.
>>3092814
leave it at home because you don't have the skill, or maybe the band has a contract of some sort
but if you still feel like being an autist, stuff your shirt with a pillow or something so you look fat and put your camera there. get a GR ?

Better stock up.

Never shot this due to it's criminal price in Europe.
What's it like?

Really good. Amazing for anything from sunny day to night shooting. I've rated it anywhere between 400 and 2000 on the same roll and then developed normally and it came out terrific
I am a graphic designer but I am thinking about becoming a photographer instead.
Are photography degrees worth it?
>>3091967
>are liberal arts degrees worth it?
No
No, just do a diploma if anything.
Graphic design and photography go hand-in-hand and having a good idea of both will only heighten you skills in both. I started out as a graphic designer before learning photography and I can tell you that the graphic designers I've met that don't know photography are definitely not near as good as those who know both. And vice versa of course.
There is more money in graphic design than there is in photography nowadays so I don't think you should be a photographer instead, but you will be a graphic designer if you learn it.
>>3091974
*a better graphic designer if you learn it
So I just ordered a Sony A6000.
I have always wanted to get into photography and this is my first proper camera (inb4 memes).
Are there any good youtube playlists, ebooks or online guides out there that I can watch/read to help me get started and learn how to take good photos?
just get a Sony A6000.
>>3090452
Never mind I just saw the wiki.
Feel free to post anything you might think would help me though.
Hey /p/, I need to make a video showcasing the zooming abilities of a lens. I am a bit of a photography noob so forgive me if this is a retarded question but why is it that a simple point and shoot like the Nikon P900 which sells for $500 has an 83x optical zoom meanwhile even the best "zoom lens" I can find for my a6300 is an 18-200mm lens which works out to about 11x optical zoom which is pathetic.
zoom lenses are for hacks who's legs are broken/ people who shoot sports and birds
zoom (variable focal length) directly correlates with sensor size. smaller sensor = more zoom. If you want, you can crop down that APS-C sensor to 1/2.3" size and get closer equivalent zoom but also lose MP because of the sensor design.

Unless you're still fighting with the basic understanding of your device:
Bring a macro / wide angle / fast normal / telezoom prime, two RF flashes and your laptop and see what you can do on the trip with your camera instead.
Reading about other people's sense of aesthetics is generally a pointless affair.
We don't really have a objective human perceptual model for aesthetics that works with most of the 8bn people, or distinct groups. It's all just random guesses.
Okay guys, I fucked up, and I'm asking for your help
here's what happened basically
>poor college student desperate for a job
>mass-applying for jobs as well as internships
>finally get called in for a interview for a small photo studio I barely even remember applying for, probably was weeks ago
>find a job description on their website, says you need proficiency in digital photography and image editing software
and the problem: you're gonna call me a faggot probably but I've only ever done film photography because its all that's interested me. I've been doing it for years and been exhibited at local art galleries yet I've never touched a digital camera other than the one on my cell phone.
but I really need the money from this.
so basically: how hard is it to transition from film to digital? can I teach myself what I need to know within a few days? or a few weeks, if I manage to stall / make up experience? I'm guessing they want experience with photoshop or something, they didn't really specify which software I would be using.
thanks in advance for any help.

The fact that you think any of the minor differences will be a problem for you, or that you even need to ask how to adapt means that you are retarded.
STFU and just use the damn camera, dickhead.
>>3095523
yeah I don't know shit about modern commercial photography, that doesn't mean I'm retarded dickhead.
I just want to know what technical skills they're going to expect of me and how I can quickly learn enough to pass the interview and keep the position
>>3095526
He's right though. If you know anything about ISO, aperture (f stops), and shutter speed then it's the same shit.
Add white balance to the mix and what file sizes a digital camera can save too- jpegs or raw. You can't be such a fucking dumbass that you're unaware of SD cards or CF cards.
If you've ever used a computer before them you can edit using a computer by not being a complete dumbass. You are retarded, just watch like 30 minutes of intro to digital photography shit on YouTube.
