I've bought some low budget equipment to photograph artwork. any recommendations? is that equ. any good?

>Canon 550D
>Canon 50mm 1:1.4 USM
>Adobe Lightroom 3

I try to shoot indoors, although I want to try cloudy shots outdoors for better results. no studio lights available.
try to go for 5.6 as 1.4 is blurry and gets color aberations at ISO100.
results are the best i ever had so far.

any experiences photographing artwork? (drawing painting etc.)

pic is with the Canon 50mm 1.4, not related to the artwork photography

Digital is fucking shit and it isn't going to get better. The memes about autofocus and megapickles are just that, memes. Even digital medium format feels so bland.

Even with the best presets and film simulations, digital images are still overwhelmingly sterile and subpar to their film counterparts. Film rendering is superior even as it resolves less.

Who gives a fuck about resolution when the detail just isn't appealing and the image doesn't move you?

Landscapes are a dime a dozen shot with ebin 4K drone footage. No one wants to see medical grade imaging of every pore and imperfection in a portrait. Street photography without blur and exposure imperfections is just hd CCTV stills. Color grading just gives you Drive wannabe shit or VSCO a instagarbage.

Fuck pee soaking lomo Milenial scum for making film into a meme and fuck Jason Lanier and Ken Rockwell for turning people into gearfaggot technologists.

>Who gives a fuck about resolution
>le digital has better resolution than film meme
can we please stop perpetuing that awful and plain wrong myth too?

look at pic related, right is film, looks as good as it would look rendering a whole image. film is noble and beautiful, even a tiny crop of film still retains all its properties. i mean, if were to you pick a speck of gold from a gold bar, would it be a lesser sample of it? nope, it would be just the same, but a smaller sample.

now look at left, look at that literal piece of shit. looks hilariously close to a 2005 cellphone photo. digital inspected up close looks like a fucking turd, its as if the big sensor was made from a bunch of pre 2010 cellphone sensors put together. a small sample of digital always looks corrupted and raped by anti alias/averaging/noise reduction, no matter how good or state of the art is the digital camera, when closely inspected -aka printed- it just falls apart. thats why fine art still is done in film. because at any size, film still looks good.

Film and digital are great in their own ways. You're the type of person who turns others off from film photography. Film already has enough on its plate when dealing with the pee-soaking millennial Lomosexuals.
Film and digital should be mediums that are better left in separate realms of photography. Both film and digital offer their own respective characteristics that entice each individual. Don't listen to the gearfaggots too much and just go with whatever type of photographic medium you enjoy (as long as you aren't a lomosexual)

Hi, /p/

The first few ones were made in South Bahia, Brazil.

The rest of the set was photographed at towns reached by the flood of Mariana's mining disaster, a couple days after the event took place. Minas Gerais, Brazil.

I can't find any literature anywhere in any books online on this.

>when I use the pop up flash, it "strobes" and fires like 20 preliminary flashes before actually "flashing" for a picture.
>I want it to stop this
>I want it to do fucking ONE flash, JUST for the picture.
>so that I can actually take a goddamn photo the moment I press the shutter fully, not have to wait a full second until the camera decides it's done with it's stupid fucking focus or metering bullsHit

What setting do I change? What mode do I have to shoot in?

It "strobes" to find focus before you take the picture. You can't turn this off, and usually you can prevent it from happening by having the shot in focus before hitting the flash button on the camera.
Another way, which many photographers use, is to not use the pop up flash at all.
>>
I really like the pop up flash

It indicates to me the photographer has no fucking clue

I'm rather new to photography and DSLRs, that being said I would like to find some tips to really bring out the lighting in photos such as ones you see on Tumblr (or such as the one linked). Is it about the settings you shoot with or more about what you can do in post and how do you go about doing it

>>
have you tried a lower shutter speed?
also you can always use Lightroom to increase each colour saturation
>>
>>3094653
Yes i have played around with the shutter speed but at the same time i know very well what i should base it off and then set the other settings to for the effect, that is true ill have to get a free trial and try that out

What's the going rate for an attractive 18-20 year old to do a porn shoot? Also, will reasonably fit looking men generally do it for free or would you have to pay them too? And I'm not talking about wanting to produce your typical degenerate porn, but more artsy kind of porn like you would find on tumblr.

Is a 6000w continuous light bright enough to replace a strobe for indoor shooting? Can you basically achieve the same thing you can with strobes by using powerful enough CFL lights?
