i need some help with my d800. it is back focusing, usually around 10-20 ft. multiple lenses and with any settings. but most prominently with the sigma 50mm 1.4. i have been using the camera for about 4 years, and never had this problem untill recently, about 15,000 shutters. i took it to a camera shop, the service guy took a few in focus pictures with it and said he has no clue...
so wtf is up? anyone else have this problem?

The problem seems to be that you're an inbred backwards moron who can't resize his images as designated in the sticky
>d800
>4 years
>15,000 shots
Did you notice when you started using it?
what a bunch of fags
Does anyone have this/is it worth getting for portraiture? It's a pretty steep asking price.
>>3095026
nothing in posing is game-changing or new within the last decade, so if it's got a steep asking price it's entirely for brain-dead suckers too stupid to google the 500 other posing videos and guides.
Don't bother replying if you're the faggy owner who was trying to make a living suckering people on 4chan into buying an entirely pointless book.
>>3095042
It's more of a prompt guide to make photos look candid and genuine I think. I'm not the owner bc I wouldn't charge hundreds of dollars for some fucking flash cards but I am curious about what the prompts actually are

ALright, motherfuckers,
Here types an ancient and never really bothered to hit up /p/ despite it being a hobby. I have decided that the time has come to step my photography game up into the digital age.
For something on the order of 15 years I have been shooting a getting older but I feel still respectable Canon getup as follows.
Elan 7e
Mp-e65 Macro
70-200mm f/2.8L IS original ed.
50mm f/1.0
I am thinking the EOS 5d Mark IV is the right choice if I jump now mainly because I am a natural light kind of person whenever possible. The 5Ds-R sounds neato but I know I'd rather have the low light and the video edge reading has me believing the mk IV has.
Maybe I should just sell off what I have and move to a Nikon system? If I were to go this route after thorough compelling I would want to keep the net cost to sub $5k USD to retain similar glass.
Concise thoughts welcome and sought.
Impetus? Family, some loose change, and my film's current state of cost when I want to go color.
Reason for Pause? The 5d mk IV is getting a smidge long in the tooth

I am going to eat dinner and if no responses i will fuck off.
>>3094871
/p/ can be a very slow board which can be both a good and a bad thing, so hang in there. Wish I could help, but I know jackshit about Canon.
>>3094768
you'd be shelling out for pretty much top of the line equipment. I get by fine on my 5dm2 but the m3 is pretty reasonable these days.
Wouldn't switch to canon as I bet most of your lenses will work just fine on the new system.
Hey guys, I recently tried to participate in a contest and the first stage is going on right now, and it's based on people's votes. I haven't gotten much votes (the contest isn't that popular either, no one seems to have many votes). I'm not here to ask for votes, I simply wish to show you my flickr and ask for advice, such as:
What am I doing good/wrong?
I would like to try photographing the milky way, any tips?
My camera is a Canon 700D, with a 18-135mm, f/3.5-f/5.6. Any sort of questions, feel free to ask, and thanks a lot for your time in advance.

I really like your pictures just please don't be that "photographer" that takes pictures of flowers and shit but I like your other pics though , hope you win.
>>3094636
Thank you, I'm glad you like them.
I try to photograph everything of interest that I come across, as to get some experience, not sure if that makes sense or is right but I thought it did when I first started out.
you are really quite wonderful at exposure, but i find that the nature photography is a bit boring.
>tfw not talented
>tfw all your pictures are shit
I now understand gearfags. I've taken maybe a handful of pics I think are decent.
It's frustrating. Sometimes you feel like you'll never make any respectable or meritable art.
So all you can do is gearfag.
I get it now. Let's hug.

Who the fuck cares anyway, it's a hobby for almost all of /p/, enjoy it for what it is
>>3094592
A handful of half decent shots is infinitely better than none at all.
>>3094592
If you think of all the great photographers of the past and all the thousands upon thousands of pictures they each must have taken during the course of their careers. Why is it you only ever see a small handful? A few books worth at most.
I'll tell you why. Because the rest of the pictures were shit. They recognised their shit and learned from it. And they got where they are because they worked very hard on their work and didn't give in to gear fagging
Not much really but it's something. An abandoned beach shack I found near a Floridian beach.

Have you considered:
>managing to take an outdoor photo without noise
>adjusting the levels to have actual contrast
>using a tripod so it looks like you at least tried to keep your camera level
reminder that youtubers have a big part in the death of /p/.
TAP vs JL shootoff. you fuckers follow youtubers like they're gods and get involved with gearfaggotry so much you bother trolling here about it.
extensive knowledge doesn't mean shit if you can't apply it, literally every major youtuber is a worse photographer than what /p/ has/had to offer, stop brandfagging and gearfagging and get out and shoot, reddit and dpreview are still alive for your daily shitposting needs so get the fuck off /p/, were lucky to have isi, sugar, catsby and NG around to still post photo threads, literally the only thing keeping this shithole alive.

Is wildlife photography or any kind of photography a meme career?
Since I was a kid I've been obsessed with photography, psychology, and the great outdoors. Leaving the field of psychology behind, I thought mixing those 2 into a career would make me happy. But I hear people say photography along with journalism died when the computer came along. Is this true? Are there good jobs to get as even a photographer of any kind that's not just taking kids high school pictures?
To succeed at photography these days you need vision and originality, technology has gotten to the point where an 8 year old on a full auto iphone can grab better shots than some fuck on a DSLR, obviously technical skill is important but there's diminishing returns in the field of "Simply being competent"
There's still work in this field, but you should consider yourself blessed to get the year book picture job, it's solid work that pays well.
Other than that there's Weddings which can be good money, and the art grant game will always be ripe (Once you get your first one, which will always be the hardest)
>>3094227
>I am a typical millennial, please help
You fucked up by not getting into business, medicine, or trade. And I mean real medicine, not psychology.
>leaving psychology behind
Yet here you are again, going down the other retarded millenial avene of art... for fuck's sake, Anon. Work where the money is, play where the fun is. It's simple.
Why is it always the psych majors who are the most mentally retarded? I know 3, and they all work at grocery stores. One is a nocturnal suicidal lesbian with daddy issues, and another is literally insane. Batshit fucking crazy. The last one is pretty normal, just misguided.
>>3094414
>only millennials ever tried to be artists
so /p/ i think i took one of my favorite pictures yet. I'm still learning photoshop and obviously there could be some modifications added to this photo.
Could anyone suggest what to modify or help me make the picture even better?
Thanks
